Want to experience Amsterdam in a original way? Come stay at our apartment in the cosy neighborhood De Pijp. What to expect?
our house isn't huge, but not that bad for Amsterdam standards. Its a 70 square meter two-floored apartment. On the front side of the house there's an open kitchen. The big table in the open kitchen is a nice place to have a glass of wine together before cooking or a late sunday morning breakfast. Get yourself a coffee (we have a Nespresso machine) and walk to the corner of the street for a newspaper. Want to relax more? At the backside of the room there's the living room with big couch plus tv. Here you find the staircase to go down, where the bathroom and bedroom (quiet and dark) can be found.
What do you find in our house?
- design and vintage furniture (mixture of Dutch and Danish design)
- a well equipped kitchen with good coffee
- flowers and candles
- no dust
- (too) many books and magazines on cooking and interior
Listing of facilities:
- 4 pits stove
- 2 ovens
- washing machine
- nespresso machine
- games and books (Dutch mainly)
What do we like?
- interior, architecture, arts, photography
- good (fresh) food, markets, cooking, delicatesse stores, sunday morning or any afternoon hot spots,
- sports and exercise
What nice stuff do we have around the area?
Enough to satisfy our hobbies mentioned above. The location of the apartment is very central, which makes sightseeing very easy: walk/cycle/public transport anywhere you want. (cycle can be rend, after consultation). In our street you can find a selection of different restaurants (most independent) with dutch, asian, vegetarian, italian, french foods. Coffeebars and tapas PLUS very nice vintage designer clothes shop / tailor / biological grocery store / laundry / art galery. People are walking around and the area is vivid, but not crowded!
A few minutes walk: the Albert Cuyp-market, Museum square (Concertgebouw, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum), most luxery shopping street of Amsterdam PC Hoofdstraat, indoor swimmingpool Zuiderbad, Saphatie parc (prettiest of the cities), Vondelpark (biggest of Amsterdam, couple of places to have a coffe/snack etc) , jazz cafe De Badcuyp, many restaurants and bars and boutiques. Canals are on a 10-15 minute walking distance. Jordaan can be reached by walking (25 minutes), public transport, bicycle or taxi.
All the rest can be reached by bike or one of the so many trams. We can give directions!
Everything, but we ask guests to respect our interior and closets.

Just a short tram ride south of Centraal Station takes you into one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant districts of Amsterdam. De Pijp area is brimming with fantastic cafés, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Of course, a visit to Amsterdam wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the Albert Cuypmarket, flanked by over 100 shops.

M196 (at Museum Square - 10 minutes from our house)-> from and to Schiphol International Airport
We ask quests to use our place the way you would use your own. We expect respectfull usage.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a 6-day trip to Amsterdam, thanks to the location and efficiency of the flat. Jeroen met us as we arrived to show us around the flat, and everything worked as expected. The flat was clean and modern, and for the 6 days, felt like home. The flat is walking distance from the museums and other main attractions, and there is a tram station around the corner to go back to the main train station. The neighbourhood is friendly with some lovely restaurants, and is lively enough if you want a drink nearby without being too noisy to disturb you inside the flat. We achieved so much more than expected because the flat was simply hassle-free and in a good location. Many thanks!
Charlotte was very polite and friendly, provide us with a lot of useful information about the apartment and neighborhood. The place is located very close to tram station and it takes 20 minutes to get to the center. We enjoyed staying there.
Gracias!!!
The apartment is exactly as listed and we enjoyed our stay very much. Clean, comfortable and very relaxing. There are two large windows in the kitchen area overlooking the street. The view provides a wonderful look at the neighborhood, which is active and lively. Many nice establishments very close by for food and shopping. Being near the tram line was so helpful for getting around Amsterdam. Charlotte was always available for questions and recommendations. We could not have had a better stay. Thank you.
What a fantastic place to stay when visiting Amsterdam! Conveniently located in De Pijp, this flat is very inviting and comfortable. The bedroom was perfect for sleeping a bit later than usual, and we made use of the fully-stocked kitchen for cooking a few meals during the stay. The wifi was strong and presented no problems. Walking from the flat to the very far end of the city center took about 25 minutes, but it was a lovely walk that was more of a pleasure than a chore.
Charlotte was very attentive with text messages and emails, zero complaints about the host!
I would absolutely recommend staying in this flat.
Beautiful experience! The apartment is in a great neighborhood, next to the city center and with all amenities around the corner.
Charlotte was a great host, always reachable by phone.
my name is Charlotte Balder. I am living and working in Amsterdam and live in the Pijp area together with my boyfriend Jeroen. He runs a company in outdoor sports and I work as an editor for a Dutch interior/lifestyle magazine.
We both love to cook, sport (Jeroen), create (Charlotte), travel and enjoy cities as well as nature. I (almost) always lived in Amsterdam and I am happy to tell you everything I know. I would love to recommend on food/vintage/eco/farmer markets, coffee/cocktail/wine bars, local areas (less traveled by tourist), restaurants/bars/cafes/clubs/festivals and cultural must sees like Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum, FOAM, Red light district, canals (center), Jordaan/De Pijp/East/West neighborhood, nicest parks around the city, (canal)bike rental+tours, I Amsterdam-sign, etcetera etcetera ...
We welcomed many quests at our apartment and all of them were great. Its a pleasure meeting people from all over the world and hopefully help them a little to get around our great city.
