En general me sentí bien, Wilber y su señora muy amables y atentos. La zona es tranquila y permite realizar diferentes actividades. Un lugar con un clima agradable y gente amable.
Wilber is a very nice gracious host. He was available pretty much every time I needed to ask him something. His salsa classes were fun and definitely worth the money. He has very nice (attractive) female dance instructors that help him with classes.
The house is located in a nice "artsy" neighborhood in front of a park where a musicians, tourists, and locals go to hang out while gazing at the city down below. Wonderful views! Restaurants and bars are plentiful in this neighborhood as well.
The house itself is large. For the money I would say that it is a fair price although expect to share the place with several other people. Not everyone is neat so you will need to adjust. There is one bathroom, as far as I know, so that could be a little tricky at times.
Some recommendations for future guests: Bring sandals or flip flops for the bathroom. Definitely a good quality bathroom kit that you can hang in the shower stall would be ideal. Be sure to ask for a fan in your room in advance as it does get quite humid in Cali. Also plan on bringing ear plugs if you have problems sleeping. As you may have heard the neighborhoods in Cali can be quite loud even at 2 in the morning. Also one last recommendation, buy plenty of bottle water (aqua sin gas). We are not accustomed to the tap water in Cali.
I would recommend Wilber's place to anyone who is seeking adventure and looking to meet new people. The salsa classes will definitely prepare you for a memorable trip.
I didn't have a great experience staying at casa Salsa...when I got there Wilber showed no effort to introduce himself, he didn't take any time to explain to me anything about the neighbor hood either...also after about the first week of being in the house he avoided talking to me because I befriended someone in the house that he didn't like. He made situations feel very uncomfortable.....only a quick hi and by.
On top of that I paid for 10 hours worth of salsa lessons and only got 9.. He said that he would speak to me about doing the 1 hour remaining but never got back to me which I thought was very dishonest and ore planned on his part. I didn't really feel the salsa vibe in the house...to be honest I just felt like a number...I didn't feel that he valued me as a client.
Wilber also doesn't communicate inportant things to you while your in the house and gets upset at you for doing it. Don't expect any information on cleaning or anything like that. Also we got told off a few times because we came home late and supposedly made too much noise. Wilber sleeps in a little room down the corridor which is not even a room with proper doors. It has a curtain as a door No wonder he heard everything and was then blaming us.
Also one night the light blew out in the kitchen and I asked if he had spares.. He didnt so I took the one out of my room and he said he will get a spare one the next day.. I waited but he never replaced it so I had to take a light from the balcony and put it in my room.
Valerie Wilber's GF was an absolute delight. She was very helpful and friendly and made an effort to get to know you and explain things around the house.
My experience in Cali was amazing, and overall I loved It but would I recommended staying at casa salsa based on my experience .. No! In my opinion there are other places that you would be better of staying at.
Having a business like this, implies to be exposed to have guests such as Mario and his polish gf. He brought a friend of him to my house who STOLE an iPad 2 and a phone charger the FIRST DAY he arrived, he didn't even APOLOGIZE. He and his gf broke all rules of the house which appears on Airbnb's list before booking, even I talked to them about that.
they used to go out for dancing FIVE times a week making LOTS OF NOISE after getting home around 3 a.m. such as cooking, talking and laughing too loud, playing, letting the doors slam shut too loud even some (website hidden) came to me to complain, that' s why I talked to them a couple times. They were definitely unrespecful of keeping neat the common spaces and when they would open their door releasing a extreme bad smelling. He postponed the last hour of salsa class many times so I was waiting he talk to me because it was uncomfortable to me.
He met his gf here so she was his tourist guide because she has been in Cali for 3 years.
they both damaged the mixer, the juice stuff, the door of her room, the Cabinet's door an speaker and some plants, they didn't really care when I talked to them about that., They used to leave everything dirty.
Wilbur's apt is located at the top of a hill directly across the street from iglesia San Antonio. San Antonio is a very charming yet very hilly neighborhood that felt safe. There are a number of very charming restaurants with in walking distance that offer high quality food at good prices. The park across the street is a favorite local gathering place especially on Sunday nights. Wilbur and his girlfriend are very friendly and easy going. They can be involved in your stay as much or as little as you like. There is not any public transportation nearby...all travel is done on foot or by taxi. The bed in room #1 was a full queen and very comfortable.....I slept well.
I had a great time at Wilbers. His place is a short walk from all of the sights, restaurants and a gym (if that's your thing). I recommend taking some salsa classes, going to Cali Zoo (it's crazy - in a good way) and planning to stay a bit longer! Thanks for everything.
This place is absolutely recommendable: clean and quiet room, close to Cali city center with some nice restaurants and bars only a few blocks away. What I liked most was the easy-going atmosphere - both hosts make you really feel at home!

About me and my interests:
My life revolves around Casa Salsa!. I am graphic designer and a professional salsa dancer, member of one the best recognized salsa school from Cali and I currently work with hostels and companies as Salsa Instructor.
I'm outgoing and cheerful guy, I love going out to have fun very often so it's nice when one of my guest are able to make me company. I really enjoy seeing my guests being confident to have lots of fun practicing salsa steps at a party.
The house is in the perfect location and Wilbur is a gracious host. The accommodations are more like (website hidden) than airbnb, but I was happy to have a place to stay in Cali.
Private Room and Salsa
Good place to stay at a good price. The historic neighborhood of San Antonio is really nice as well.
I came to Cali will the intentions of staying a month and now I am going on my 5th! If your looking to see the real side of Colombia and learn the different cultures here the Cali is the city to be. Its mix of Spanish, Indigenous and African culture is both interesting and beautiful. I love it here and being in Medellin for a Month before coming here I can say I felt more in Colombia and learned alot more about this country and its culture being in Cali. Wiber, the head honcho of the Casa, is a sweetheart! he goes out of his way to make you feel at home and once you get to know him youll find him hilarious. Hes very geuine and caring to everybodys needs and questions. He also offers salsa classes as he is a proffesional salsa dancer. I am not a salsa man myself but I have watched him teach over the past 4 months and I can say hes fun but also serious and passionate about what hes doing because he wants you to learn. The house is nice and cozy. 4 bedrooms downstairs and 1 upstairs on the roof. The kitchen is perfect for cooking and preparing all your own meals has all the utensils and a 4 burner gas stove. Bathroom has hot water shower. The neighborhood is extremly unique and stands out the most of any neighborhood in Cali. San Antionio has the old Colonial style houses with the church and park right in the midst of all this. From friday to sunday the park and church is full of Colombian familys, street venders, food venders and live shows. People gather at the park to socialize and watch shows. Beautiful atmosphere and gives you a deep feel of the strong family bond in this country. Once you get settled in here the neighbors will start saying hi to you as you pass and if your friendly will spark a conversation with you. Your surrounded by super nice Colombian familys on both sides of the place so its really easy to feel comfortable here. Your also in a great location close to everything from Intercontinental Hotel and Casino, to great restaurants and night life. Everything is within walking distance or at most a 4 $ taxi ride away. Also El Centro is a 5 minute walk from San Antonio. This is the downtown of Cali full of stores, super markets, street venders you name it they have it! This place is the best deal in town and the most confortable. Grasiela is extremly nice and goes out of her way to explain and help people get here. And once your here and if she is here visiting and you need anything she is always there to do what she can. My experience here was amazing and would recommend this place to anybody traveling this way!
Have been taking salsa classes form Graciela and Wilbur now pretty much daily (just finished class #7) and can't believe the progress I have made. If you want a systematic step by step approach and serious about progressing fast in as short a possible time possible, I highly recomend you book at least 20 hours with them, you won't regret it.
