On foot fifteen minutes away from downtown Brussels and a five minute walk to the international train station (Brussels Midi) this studio is ideal to experience the city of Brussels, the country of Belgium but also most of western Europe (Bruges - 45', Antwerp - 40', Ghent - 30', Paris - 75', London - 150', Amsterdam - 120' etc.).
The Brussels Midi station functions as a hub for most trams, buses, subways and the shuttles to Charleroi and the airport train to Brussels International airport.
By Car (numerous renting options in Midi station) it is only a five minute ride to the main national and international highways (E40, E19 etc.)
At weekends full breakfast is offered at an extra 15$ in the dining room of the house. All espresso drinks are made by a licensed barista who is also an experienced Brussels city guide. One of the best Italian restaurants of the city is only one block away and the Midi Station hosts an excellent selection of cafes and cheap restaurants of which the Exki natural food restaurant is a fine (website hidden) enthusiasts can visit the world famous Geuze, Cherry and Raspberry brewery Cantillon half a mile down the road.
The house has recently been entirely renovated with the help of Brussels based architect Bruno Vanbesien. It has featured on numerous architecture websites and blogs.
I had a great experience with no problems. I would recommend this place to all. Spacious and clean.
I had a great time (nine weeks) in the studio.
The bed is very large and comfortable. The bathroom is amazing especially the light and the shower head. The whole studio is very bright, which some would not expect since it is in the basement.
My visitors were happy with the sofa regarding comfort and it is very easy to convert it (1minute).
There's also a fancy radio (vinyl opportunity as well) and the sound is very good.
The isolation works very well so you can't hear anything from outside.
There are a well-functioning washing machine and a dryer which is very convenient. Not to forget the treadmill for evening training sessions.
The location is very convenient: it's a five minutes walk to Midi-Station where lots of shops are placed, a three minutes walk to the closest Villo-Station and a bakery and a little store for vegetables and fruit are just around the corner. It's very easy to reach the city center.
Jeroen is a great host; very friendly and helpful with all my concerns.
The apartment is new and modern, the shower is especially nice and the bed is quite comfortable. The De Greefs are a very nice family. Jeroen is a fantastic host who goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. He's very knowledgeable about the city, a great conversationalist, a barista, a good cook, and an all around good guy.
I think the description provided is very accurate.
My two-month stay at Jeroen's beautiful studio was perfect! The room is very classy, clean and furnished with everything I expected to find while visiting Brussels. The room is minimalist, with white walls, but the lights give it a warm touch that made my evenings very cosy.
The only thing you share with Jeroen's family is the entrance, making the the studio fully-independant. The spacious bathroom is very nice and I already regret the incredible shower.
In conclusion: I loved this place. Jeroen is a tremendous host and he always cared about making my stay even more enjoyable. Don't hesitate if you need a cosy and private room to stay in Brussels!
Im very grateful to Jeroen, the basement studio its just the place i would reccomand to anyone who wish to spend a few days or more in the multicultural city of brussels. The studio window gives on the street, which makes you somehow feel connected to the streets life .with closed windows there was absolutly no noise, the living room gets bright all day long, which makes it the best place if you have to do some reading or working during the day, and wish to be in the city, a 5 minutes walk from gare du midi, from where you can connect yourself to almost every european city!
The entire house its just being renovated, beautiful, clean architecture, definetly worth a visit! Best place. Thank you for the Hospitality Jeroen
Staying at Jeroen's place was an absolute pleasure. We had a very nice room/living room with a very comfortable bed and a bathroom attached. The design of the place is beautiful and it is kept very clean. It is centrally located, only a few blocks from Gare Midi. More importantly, Jeroen was wonderfully welcoming and helpful. We discussed our love of fine coffee and beer, and the fact that the wonderful Cantillon brewery is only a few blocks away.
My wife and I highly recommend this place and definitely want to go back and spend more time in Brussels.
Great host. Fantastic flat (definitely one of a kind), clean, stylish and spacious. The stay was more than great. Strongly Recommended:)
We live in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and Europe in a house that we completely renovated over the past years. I am a teacher in high school (English, History of Art and Dutch Literature) my wife is a corporate lawyer. We like the theatre, movies, opera, great food and coffee etc. We love to read and watch American TV series from HBO and the likes. We have one daughter of three years old, Elle and a cat, Poe, but we have lost count on how old he is.
