Oliver grew up in Charlottesville and we have both lived here for the past ten years. We know all the ins and outs of town and the surroundings and will be available to answer your questions. We travel a lot and would love you to enjoy this space as much as we do!
The entire apartment is completely available for your use. The outside yard space is common space shared with the downstairs apartment. We keep one room closed with our personal things, but that room is not pictured here. We also provide your phone number to the downstairs tenant in case your party is being too loud after 10pm.
Interaction with Guests
We will be interacting primarily by text/e-mail although typically we are able to meet guests if preferred. We are setup to maximize your privacy during your stay.
We know tons about the area and are completely available to answer any questions or help you plan your stay.
You are ideally situated between downtown and UVA and can walk to everything in town. We have a good selection of shops/restaurants within 5 minutes stroll.
All sorts of public buses run on Main street (2 blocks North) and we are very conveniently located to both the Amtrak train station and Greyhound Bus station.
Other Things to Note
This is an urban neighborhood and parking can be limited, especially on weekends. We have two off-street spots and can generally offer one of them to guests. Please let us know if you have a special need (travelling with children, accessibility issues) for two spaces and we will try to accommodate your request if possible.
A few times a year our neighbor's daughter comes to visit and brings her dog. The dog is a barker, but they keep the dog in at night. It is just a bit of a nuisance when the dog is here, so we want to make people aware of the possibility.
Please read through the house rules in their entirety BEFORE booking so you know what to expect! By booking, you are confirming that you have read and agree to the house rules.
Generally the ethic is to leave things as tidy as you found them and to treat our things as if they were your own. This means doing any dishes and cleaning up any messes created by your group and respecting our personal property. If something gets broken, it is generally not a big deal, but we would appreciate being informed.
No unregistered guests or animals. If the size of your party changes, that is generally no problem, please let us know and we can adjust the reservation accordingly. We love dogs and have our own. We understand that people want to bring their dogs with them when they travel and want to accommodate them. Dogs do have an impact on a property and as such we treat dogs as an extra person ($25/night). Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved and do not bark incessantly. We also ask that dogs are kept off the furniture. We cannot accept cats because of a cat allergy.
We have people downstairs and our house is a neighborhood surrounded by families (and our friends). Because there have been a few issues in the past, we provide your phone number to our downstairs tenant in case things get too loud after 10 pm. We expect our guests to be respectful and quiet in the evenings (no loud music and high volume activities after 10:00) and keep the partying to the bars, etc. We also ask that people remove their shoes while inside the house. This is especially important when coming home late.
We do encourage folks to use our fully stocked kitchen and enjoy a dinner with friends around our large dinning room table. We also have a cozy loft and a 55" tv but appreciate if the volume is turned down reasonably after 10:00 pm.
Please dispose of all your trash in the trash bin and recycling in the recycling bin upon departure. We appreciate it if you can strip the beds and start a load of laundry, but it is not necessary, just really helpful!
Please no smoking in the house, but you are welcome to smoke on the porch. We just ask that you dispose of your butts properly. Thanks!
From Dec 01, 2016 - Feb 28, 2017 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
I grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia and live here with my wife, Natasha, our daughter Ursula and our exceptional dog Lika. We have had many amazing experiences both as hosts and guests on airbnb and are always excited to host fellow travelers.
We have both recently transitioned to working for ourselves in order to have more flexible schedules and allow for more travel. To celebrate we went on a 10 month trip to South and Central America, beginning with the World Cup in Brazil! We are glad to be back in town and excited to be hosting again.
We are adventurous and outdoorsy, have a passion for good food and Virginia wine. We are huge fans of our community and look forward to sharing ideas and insider tips with you so you can enjoy Charlottesville to its fullest.
