Our comfortable studio is wonderfully centrally located. You can get anywhere in the city in just a few minutes-walk to Golden Gate Park or the Haight. We make parking easy and morning coffe in the east-facing garden is a great way to start your day!

The Space

This 600sq foot studio apartment comes with a full kitchen and bathroom. access to a washer and dryer, use of the delightful garden and is decorated with Japanese art and antiques. WIFI and full cable with DVR is included as well as a cosy electric fire place for those cold San Francisco days. There is a queen-sized bed and the large sectional sofa opens into an additional queen-sized bed for additional sleeping. We also have futons available for children when parents want to leave the sofa as a sofa. We love children and do not charge for children 12 and under. Located right in the middle of San Francisco, we are no more than 10 minutes from downtown or both bridges for trips outside the city. There are great restaurants nearby, and public transportation is easy with a bus stop on the corner. There are two grocery stores within walking distance. We let guests park in our driveway when parking is tight, so parking is never an issue. Having spent 30 years in the USNavy we know what it is like to travel and we endeavor to make our guests stays a refuge. We are available to help in any way---suggestions for restaurants, sites, directions, whatever our guests need. We want their stay in our city and apartment to be a delight.

Guest Access

All guests have access to our east facing garden which is a wonderful place to have morning coffee!
The washer and dryer are shared and we just ask that our guests respect that we all work and usually do our own wash on weekends.

Interaction with Guests

We live in the flat above this guest apartment and are here to help if you want. We love giving recommendations on restaurants and sites. We respect your privacy, but are here evenings and weekends....except when we are skiing or traveling ourselves!

The Neighborhood

We love that we are so centrally located that we are within walking distance of great restaurants, two super grocery stores including Trader Joes, the new San Francisco City Target, and just a short walk from Golden Gate Park. We are able to live here with one car because we can walk almost anywhere we want.

Getting around

The bus stop is at the end of our block and you can literally get anywhere in San Francisco by bus. There are also taxis and the new ride share programs like Pink Mustache.

If you are bringing a car, parking in our neighborhood is quite easy and when it is not we allow our guests to park in our driveway.

Without traffic our house is less than 20 minutes from SFO. With traffic it is anyone's guess, but we never allow over 30 minutes to get there and have always made it on time. Just ask us for our route!

Other Things to Note

This is not an apartment that anyone lives in regularly. It is strictly for guests and has all the amenities you would expect. We do not stock it with food, but there are the essentials like salt and pepper, etc.

  • We (there were four of us) had an excellent experience and I would highly recommend this place to everyone. It was spotlessly clean, bright, and extremely comfortable. There is a little garden area which was perfect for enjoying coffee in the mornings. Kate went out of her way to leave explicit instructions, checking on how things were going and making sure I could get in touch with her anytime I needed. (I didnt but it was comforting to know I could!). She left a book with handy information. The location was lovely - easy to walk places, near stores, and best of all, very close to major bus lines. We felt safe, comfortable, and incredibly lucky to have found such a gem of a place. This was my first experience with Airbnb and I was a bit nervous about what to expect. This definitely exceeded anything I imagined.

  • We had an excellent experience with Kate and her "Lovely Garden Studio", the studio is really well situated, we could walk or take a bus on the corner of the street. The studio is very well equiped, we are a family of 4 and we were very comfortable. Kate has been very helpfull, we had problems with our taxi driver from the airport, and she supported us even if it was very late... I recommend this studio +++

  • We had an amazing experience in San Francisco. Our studio was everything that is described and then some. Kate was very easy to talk with and had great suggestions. The location could not have been better. Public transportation and walking was very easy. The lovely patio and garden are also a plus. No complaints or disappointments!!!!

  • Place was great. Easy to get in and out and very secure. Location is great, right next to USF. Our son was graduating from USF on Saturday and our daughter had a C section at a surgery facility on California (which was only about a mile walk) so perfect for us. I know the area really well since our daughter also graduated from USF. If you go while school is in make sure you make arrangements on parking. I believe you can park in the driveway as long as you leave your keys there so folks can get in and out of the garage so should not be an issue.

  • Great unit in nice neighborhood! Very close to University of San Francisco, and a great option for a stay in the city. Public transport is very easy and close, making other parts of the city a short trip away. Kate was a gracious, warm, and helpful host, and everything was as described and better. Highly recommended!!!!!

  • The apartment is very comfortable and clean. I picked the location because it is near my friend's house. We had a nice week and would stay there again.

  • Kate's apartment was great and Kate herself was very helpful and friendly. We stayed there for almost a month and she provided everything we needed including washer and dryer. The neighborhood is one of the best in the city with lots of grocery shops, cafes/restaurants, parks and convenient transportation.

We would definitely recommend Kate's place to everyone.

Hi! I am an active grandmother and mother who loves living in San Francisco! I am an avid foody and cook, I love to travel with my grandson, and stay active working out at the gym and playing golf and snow skiing. As a host I am all about the guest- helping out in any way that I can or leaving them alone to enjoy a great get-away in our fabulous city. My dad and husband were both navy officers and I got the bug to travel early. I lived in Spain as a child and then again as an adult. We were also fortunate to live in Japan many times. These experiences have given me a keen awareness of the pleasures and challenges of visiting abroad and I am always eager to be a fabulous host to my guests from abroad. FIve things I can't live without---first and foremost is my family, next is my suffer from homophobia (fear of being without a cell phone), fresh flowers in the house, fresh vegetables to eat, and last but not least a good book to read!
