I've passed 2 weeks in August 2014 at Ailis's home.
Ailis and her family are great hosts. I had a cosy bedroom with a shared bathroom.
The house is spacious and we can find every thing we need.
The bus stop is close to the house and even the night, it's "just" around 13€ to come back in Taxi from the city center.
It's also good to be on the line to the airport and city center.
I find the house really alive ! I met spanish, german ... Even if I had my own friends in the city and I haven't pass a lot of time with others persons, I found the others guests nice.
Maybe one regret, the house is alive but sometimes too for me. Even in French I often feel not comfortable in a big groups, so in English it's harder (especially when you don't speak well). We was often around 10 guests in addition the family.
So to conclude, if you want meet people from around the world and benefited of great host just go at Ailis'house !
We were made to feel very welcome by Ailis, her family and other guests. The location was great for trips into the city, to the coast and easy for the airport. Many thanks for your hospitality.
Nice place to stay, not too far of the city center by bus in a quiet house with lovely family. Young children live in the house, take consideration about it and, maybe, a little far of the interesting excursions like Galway, Connemara, Cliffs of Moher. But if you like the Irish Pubs, it's the place to be !
It has been a wonderful and eventful time living with Ailis, the place is cleaned weekly to a sparkling finish. The people are friendly and there is never a dull moment. With bus's within a short walking distance and DCU around the corner for some live plays at the Helix theater, you cant get it any better. It really is a lovely place.
I loved staying with Ailis and her family in her comfortable home in Dublin. She is an excellent host. She offered a warm welcome, a comfortable bed, help with transportation needs, and a hot meal at the end of each day. Returning to a warm and inviting family atmosphere after a long day of sight-seeing added depth to my experience of Ireland and its people. I recommend staying with Ailis as a welcome beginning and sweet ending to your experience of Dublin and the island of Ireland.
We stayed with our kids with Ailis and her family and the experience was great. They did all they could possible do to make us feel at home.
Thank you for being so kind and warm!
Staying with Ailis and her family was a great experience. It was even better than I expected. I loved sitting at the dinner table with a dozen other people from all over the world every day. I loved the conversations in the patio after dinner, while Ailis´daughter was playing the guitar in the back yard.
Everyone had awesome tips about places to visit (Ailis, her husband, her mom, her mother in law)..
Ailis was very attentive and full of surprises (thanks for the cider!) :)
She had a million stories to tell after dinner, while drinking a glass of wine..
I would recommend anyone to stay with her and her family.
I'm sure our paths will cross again.

About the Host, Ailis
we are Ailis & Ian. I am a fairly easy going mother of three. I enjoy reading (when i get the time), going out with my friends and hosting.
The past eight years hosting have been great. We have met so many amazing people who have shared not only our day to day lives but some big events with us. Eating dinner in the evenings with our guests truly gives us a great connection with people who choose to stay with us and become part of our extended family.
Our house is a home and although busy it is always filled with fun.
I am a native English speaker but I am also fluent in Irish so I can teach you some words. I also have a small bit of French, and failing that I'm excellent with an online translator :-)
There are no strangers here, just friends you haven't met yet :)
