Mauro and his family are great hosts. They are all extremely friendly, nice, and helpful and they all speak perfect English. The apartment is also great - very well equipped, spacious, in a great location, and with a great view. Wonderful experience.
Unfortunately we were unable up stay at Mauros place because my husband became ill and had to stay in Rome. I still received partial reimbursement despite our ( very) last minute cancellation. Mauro was quite accommodating and patient with our plan changes. Hope someday to stay at Mauros should we go to Florence.
Excellent location! Front door faces Santa Croce Basilica! Easy walk to all main attractions, restaurants, shopping, and train terminal. Giuliano and Mauro were great hosts, and easy to communicate with. They even welcomed us with a lovely gift of wine and treats. The apartment is large and works very well for two couples or a family.
This is a beautiful apartment in a perfect location to explore Florence. Located immediately across from the entrance to Santa Croce, it is in on ideal location to explore Florence. There are lots of restaurants nearby and a great breakfast bar a few doors down the street.
The house was built many centuries ago so although it has been modernized it still has the character of a medieval building. The bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate and there is a good shower with plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable and the linens and towels were clean. There is a well appointed kitchen which we did not use. Although there is a nice living area the sofas and chairs are not that comfortable. Another important issue is that the apartment is on the third floor and there are many steps up and no elevator. So if you have a lot of luggage it can be exhausting getting everything upstairs. With two strong teenagers that wasn't a big issue for us but it would be if you had small children.
Because you are right on the Square the apartment is a bit noisy, and people stay up late so it doesn't quiet down for a while. The host Veronica who met us gave us excellent suggestions for where to eat and also provided laundry detergent so we could do laundry. She was very thorough with her explanations and we did not have any problems figuring things out. While we needed to be out of the apartment by 10 AM, there is a room downstairs where you can keep your luggage.
All in all this was a comfortable apartment in a perfect location.
Giuliano was a gracious and generous host. He met us at the apartment, took the time to explain how all the services worked and even brought us oranges from his own tree!
Our host met us out front as planned on the evening of our arrival. The apartment is just as pictured on the web site. A bottle of wine and some biscotti was there for us upon our arrival! The apartment was perfect for our family of four. The separate bathrooms was a nice feature so we didn't have to share with our kids. Great location for everything we wanted to do while visiting Florence. Our host offered his advise on what to do, but our son had just studied there for a semester, so we didn't take him up on that. He also arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport. Great visit!
Wonderful, wonderful experience in Mauro's apartment! Everything warm and welcoming and exactly as described. Guiliano was extremely generous with information and recommendations. Perfect location for strolling to market and other historical attractions. Close to excellent restaurants. Thank you so much for a first time family trip to Florence! Anne, Mark & family
