This B&B is just as beautiful in person as it is in the photos, if not more! However, I wish someone had mentioned that there is no A/C in the room. We were there during a warmer part of the year and were very uncomfortable trying to sleep in the room at night. In addition to the heat, there were at least 3 roosters on the property that crowed every morning by 5 am and sometimes in the middle of the night. This was extremely frustrating because we couldn't close the windows or doors due to the heat. My husband and I had to wear ear plugs every night to even have a chance of sleeping in at all. Unfortunately, the sprinklers were also set to go off at 2:15 am one morning waking us up in our sleep and we weren't able to close the windows to drown out the noise to continue sleeping. I'm a new mom and honestly a good nights sleep all the way through the night was one of the things I was looking forward to most on this vacation and unfortunately due to the heat, roosters, and other noises I never slept past 7am or through the night. Really disappointing!
On a positive note, the restaurant, Splasher's Grill, that we were given for breakfast was wonderful! The food was absolutely delicious and drinks were included so unless we purchased a alcoholic beverage there were no additional charges besides the tip.
I recommend the location however you should decide if you can forgo sleep while staying there.
Shane thanks for staying I'm sorry the BNB thing wasn't your cup of tea. We are sorry you got lost, I know its a pain when the vehicle GPS doesn't work properly. The rental car companies have contracts for service and some are not up to par. Thats why we do have detailed instructions on the site to get you here and usually no one is lost when they print a copy to follow. Those darn roosters are a pain it is too bad that on almost every tropical island in the world the people let the chickens run wild. We are in farm country and I do mention that and offer those foam ear plugs because it is very quiet after dark and any noise will disturb some. It is true the sprinklers come on after 1 am. They are set so you don't get wet when returning from a late night out. As you know we have to water when no one is walking the grounds. You may be right about a portable AC unit this is the first year it has seemed warmer but normally we are not as warm as you experienced. I guess we may be used to it. I do point out in our description that we are situated at the 1000 foot elevation and that our home like others at this elevation does not have heating or cooling. We are a private residence, not a hotel, although we try to make your stay just as unique. I wished you had said something and we would have done our best to make your stay comfortable. I'm glad it wasn't all bad and hope you'll try us again sometime.
My wife & I enjoyed our 3 nights at Haleakala. The views of the ocean & the town of Kona were wonderful from this terraced location in the coffee belt above Kona. The B&B was very quiet & provided a nice secluded retreat following a day of tourist activities along the Kohala coast. The room was clean & comfortable with beautiful hardwood floors. Highly recommended if you want to be near kona attractions but still have peace & tranquility.
A paradise on the mountain. Bill was full of helpful tips and recommendations to make the stay a memorable one. Not to mention the postcard view on the lanai.
Definitely a spot that I will be coming back to.
This place was amazing! It looked just like the pictures, was clean and comfortable, and the views were absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the beautiful Kona area!
really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful house, the view is amazing, the hospitality is unbeatable
My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. Bill was great and had excellent suggestions for what to do during our stay.
The roosters and birds were a little loud, but not terrible. If you're a light sleeper I would suggest a white noise app :-)
The views from our nest and from the pool is absolutely breathtaking.
We would love to go back and spend more time there.
Thank you Bill!

We had a great time at Haleakala B&B! The K-Nest was beautiful - very comfortable with a great view and just as pictured. Comfortable Queen bed and beautiful shower.
Bill was a great host, letting us use his snorkeling equipment free of charge and recommending all the best local restaurants and beaches for whatever it was we wanted to see and do. Having an on-site tour guide was invaluable and definitely contributed to a great trip! We would highly recommend staying with Bill over a hotel for a more authentic, lovely Hawaiian experience. We'll definitely return if we visit the Big Island again!
