It was a perfect journey for us in this place!. The room was spacious and clean, the neighbourhood was very safe even when we came back at the apartment later in the evening, metro is near ans easy tout go. We could use the bathroom and the kitchen as soon as we needed. I stronghly recommend it, a great ans cheap solution fort a trip on nyc.
This place of Suzi and Elvis is just the right blend of private bedroom and shared amenities (kitchen, living room and bathroom) all at the top floor. I was given a warm welcome by Elvis' mom who would make a really good host too. The room I rented was spacious enough for three people and very comfortable and we were provided with a portable safe heater. I would love to come back here in the summer or fall where walking going to the subway station gets to be more fun because it is not quite near, although the community is quiet and safe. All in all, comfort was our priority and it was worth it, more so for my friends who found renting through airbnb a novel idea.
Me and my friend, we had a great time in Elvis and Suzi's place. They were super helpful with everything. It's very cheap and very nice. Also, the neighborhood is safe. We had to walk late at night, but we didn't see anything that bothered us. Being able to use the kitchen was also a big plus. Our room was huge and we had a lot of sunshine :) If you're looking for a nice and cheap place, this is literally the best you can find in NY.
Safe neighbourhood, nice kitchen and a clean room. Couldn't ask for more, considering the price. Had a nice week in NYC and a warm refuge for the night with an extra heater to survive the cold. :)
On the positive side, Suzi and Elvis's place was clean, comfortable, quiet, and generally convenient to the 46th Street M and R subway station, which is only a few stops from midtown Manhattan. (The place is also a stone's throw from LaGuardia airport.) We appreciated that Suzi provided free sheets and a pillow for the airbed we brought for the third person in our party, and that there was an electric space heater in the room in addition to the radiator. We also liked being able to use the cups, plates, appliances, etc. provided in the apartment's kitchen.
However, on the negative side, we were extremely disappointed that the apartment did not have a smoke detector when we checked in, despite the plastic mount for one on the ceiling inside the apartment's front door. Upon using the Airbnb messaging system to ask Suzi and Elvis to install one the next day, they responded almost instantly and outright lied to us, claiming that the smoke detector was built into the thermostat, which upon examination was clearly not labelled or built as a smoke detector. We wrote back again, reminding them that it is required by law and building code to have a smoke detector, not to mention that its absence is a danger to the lives of their guests. Sure enough, the next day there was a smoke detector installed, but we hope that no guest before us also stayed without a working smoke detector. In any case, we are angry that Suzi and Elvis, as hosts, failed to provide something so basic and necessary to our safety without us guests having to prod them first. Finally, we wish that the bathroom door lock worked, and that the main front door to the building of three apartments were locked for our safety (we were given a key to the main front door's lock, so why not use it?).
All in all, we would return, but with hesitation, as Suzi and Elvis breached our trust on our very first stay with them.
One of our most weirdest guests ever. Was worried about his security in one of the most safest neighborhoods in NYC, worried about having no smoke detector in the apt after I told him I had to buy a new battery and couldn't even knock on the door to tell me this, he wrote me via Airbnb. Bathroom door works fine and locks. Left the place a mess, alcohol bottles everywhere and didn't have the courtesy to take out his own trash. 95% of our Airbnb experiences are positive ones this was the rare 5%. Hope to see you normal people soon : )
We stayed at the apartment in February and it was great-the room was spacious and so was the kitchen with a lovely coffee-machine :)
Suzi and Elvis were very helpful, friendly people, giving advice about transport and shopping , very nice people.I'll surely recommend this place to my family:)
We spent 12 days in NY in Elvis and Suzi's room. Everything was ok. Everybody, who looking for a low cost accomodation during the NY's trip, should use Elvis and Suzi's service. Rooms are large and clean, with basic furniture. Kitchen and bathroom are normal, for a few people sufficient. Suzi and Elvi are kind and helpful people, who were helped to call us taxi to airport. If we ever go to NY again ask Suzi and Elvis accommodation. Viola and Katka from Czech Republic
The apartment was everything we needed. Full sized kitchen, cozy bed, clean, tidy, close to the subway, and in a nice little neighborhood. Elvis was a great host and gave us some great pointers on Astoria and NYC. Definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate booking here next time.
Elvis and Suzi are great hosts. This is a nice big room in a great place in a great area at a great price.
The room was pretty nice and clean. Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay. 15 min to metro, 30 min to Manhattan. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
