Welcome to my (and your) home for your stay in Durham, NC. When you arrive you will have your own private bedroom and bath. The bedroom has a new futon with a firm mattress, some closet space, and views of the front porch and street. The bathroom will come stocked with towels and I will have amenities available should you need it. Just ask.
While there is no tv, there is wifi access and you will be provided with the password upon arrival.
The front porch, living room, dining room and kitchen will be yours to use as needed. The kitchen has a coffee maker, microwave, electric stove and oven and fridge. You can store whatever you need to in the fridge and freezer. Just let me know and space will be made.
You may have noticed in the photos that I have a now 9 year old corgi, Wrigley is his name. Very friendly and happy. He will be around to greet you and say hello, however, he can spend as much time as he needs to in my rooms.
Interaction with Guests
I am available to my guests as little or as much as they desire. I do work during the week and my hours vary. With that being said, I am always available via text or email and can answer any questions or concerns when they arise.
I am happy to provide suggestions for events, restaurants, and places to kick back and have a cup of coffee or a beer.
The neighborhood is charming and friendly. During the summer months, you may hear my neighbor the bagpiper marching up and down the drive or hear the jingle of the La Pricessa Ice Cream cart as he walks up and down the road.
You will be within walking distance to a wonderfully, fresh taco stand, La Vaquita. Directly opposite, on the other side of the street, you can enjoy a seasonal menu at Four Square Restaurant in an historic Victorian Mansion. Also within walking distance is Guglhumpf bakery and restaurant and Foster's Market. There is a little bit of something for everyone.
Duke University's West Campus is about 1 mile away.
If you like to walk or hike, the Duke University Al Buehler Cross Country Trail is about 2-3 blocks away.
The Nasher Art Museum is just a short drive. And of course, the up and coming Downtown Durham is just a short 5-10 minute drive away.
Oh, and how can I forget, the AAA Durham Bulls baseball club is just a short 3-5 minute drive away. Inexpensive and always enjoyable summer entertainment.
And that's just the neighborhood! The house is quite charming too!
If you are driving, you will have access to a driveway or on-street parking, whichever you prefer.
There is taxi service from Raleigh-Durham Airport, as well as local taxis if needed.
I am a block away from the local public transit, DATA, bus route 10. This route, like most routes in Durham will take you downtown, where you can then pick up another bus, or walk to wherever you might need to go. There is a free Bull City Connector Bus if you would like to travel from one end of the city to another.
I also have a bike that is available for your use.

Carissa was an awesome host, her house was adorable and cozy. Her dog Wrigley is wonderful and great fun. Her house is in a great location and close to Duke and downtown Durham. Full access to her kitchen and very private. Was friendly and knowledgeable about fun places to visit. Thanks for the great hosting!
Carissa and James, and their corgi, were very friendly and welcoming. I brought my bike, and I felt it was a great location for exploring--a good distance from downtown, amid a few nice neighborhoods, and within close reach of everything people would go to Durham to see. I have only good things to report.
A perfect place to stay while visiting Duke University.
Carissa is a great hostess and showed very relaxed hospitality.
Nice home overall, great that you could have your own bathroom, biking distance from Duke and grateful for the wonderful home-made cookies.
Everything was just what I needed at Carissa's.
I received a very warm welcome, the accommodations were private enough to come and go as I pleased and the location to Duke was great.
A+, nice location, cozy. Carissa was extremely friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.
Carissa made me feel super welcome at her place. My stay was great. The house was cozy, the futon firm and the room warm. I had everything I needed, and she was really friendly. Even though I booked with her later in the day she made everything work smoothly. Wriggly her Corgi was quite sweet and friendly -- a great little friend. Carissa had to work early the next morning, but James was up when I left and made me a cup of coffee for the road! Very nice folks and a very nice place. Thank you guys!
Being an airbnb host is an extension of what I do everyday. I enjoy meeting new people, learning about new places, and helping those in need. My guess is that you need a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay while you are enjoying meeting new people and exploring a new place. Well, let me help you with that.
Durham is a wonderful up and coming city and I can't wait to share with you all that I love about the city. From the Saturday Farmer's Market to the Food Trucks to the Carolina Theatre and the Durham Performing Arts Center. Just ask and I will do my best to make your stay pleasant and memorable.
Oh, and if you are lucky you may even have your own Corgi, Wrigley, to keep you company while you are here.
