Welcome to my (and your) home for your stay in Durham, NC. The neighborhood is charming and friendly. During the summer months, you may hear my neighbor the bagpiper marching up and down the drive or hear the jingle of the La Pricessa Ice Cream cart as he walks up and down the road.
You will be within walking distance to a wonderfully, fresh taco stand, La Vaquita. Directly opposite, on the other side of the street, you can enjoy a seasonal menu at Four Square Restaurant in an historic Victorian Mansion. There is a little bit of something for everyone.
If you like to walk or hike, the Duke University Al Buehler Cross Country Trail is about 2-3 blocks away. The Nasher Art Museum is just a short drive. And of course, the up and coming Downtown Durham is just a short 5-10 minute drive away. I am a block away from the local public transit, DATA.
And that's just the neighborhood! The house is quite charming too!
When you arrive you will have your own private bedroom and bath. The bedroom has a new futon with a firm mattress, some closet space, and views of the front porch and street. The bathroom will come stocked with towels and I will have amenities available should you need it. Just ask.
While there is no tv, there is wifi access and you will be provided with the password upon arrival.
The front porch, living room, dining room and kitchen will be yours to use as needed. The kitchen has a coffee maker, microwave, electric stove and oven and fridge. You can store whatever you need to in the fridge and freezer. Just let me know and space will be made.
You may have noticed in the photos that I have a now 9 year old corgi, Wrigley is his name. Very friendly and happy. He will be around to greet you and say hello, however, throughout most of your stay, he will remain in my rooms or take a doggie vacation with a friend.
Our first AirBnB experience was great!
Carissa was a wonderful hostess and the accommodations were comfortable, clean, charming, peaceful, friendly; basically everything a person could want.
This was my first time using Air BnB and I was not disappointed. It was a pleasure staying at Carissa's home, she is a very gracious host. Her house is nicely located near Duke University and other areas of interest. She provided breakfast foods for me, gave me info about the area and helped me navigate the community. And, her dog is sweet. I felt right at home and will be back. Thanks Carissa!
Fantastic place and fantastic host! This my first time using airbnb. She responded quickly and provided an ample breakfast each day. It was a short walk with sidewalks to Duke's campus by taking Chapel Hill Rd. to Anderson. Also I had forgotten an item at her residence and she was prompt to mail it to me. I would recommend her to anyone staying in the area.
Thanks again Carissa!
We felt so at home staying with Carissa that when I returned to Durham I opted to stay there again. She was as friendly and accommodating as the first time. I hesitate to give her recommendations as high as she deserves b/c I will want to stay there again and don't want to loose availability!
Carissa was a warm and responsive hostess. She offered privacy and at the same time was available if we had any requests. The room was clean with a private bath as advertised. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay there again. Carissa was also very flexible and made it very easy to schedule our arrival. I would say she went above and beyond in her cordiality.
Carissa was a gracious and accommodating host. She gave great directions to her home, provided me with all the necessaries for my stay, and even offered coffee in the morning. The room is clean and private and although Carissa has a wonderful dog named Wrigley who everyone ought to love, she is still super conscientious about making sure he's not a bother. Would definitely stay again.
I've stayed with Carissa 2 times when in town on business and both have been excellent. She's been a wonderful host; very accommodating, and enjoyed sharing information about local events and things to do in the Durham area. Her home is within a couple blocks of 15/501, making it easy to get around the Durham/Chapel Hill area.
She invites you to feel at home, to include joining in to work on a huge puzzle or reading something from from her library. Also, she has access to fresh eggs from a area farm, so that makes breakfast even better. Plus her Gorki Wriggly works hard to make you feel at home by being available for a pet now and then.
Would recommend this location readily.
We had a lovely time staying with Carissa. She was friendly, flexible, and made us feel welcome in her home.
I really enjoyed my stay with Carissa! Even though I was there for only one night, I had a great time meeting her and her dog Wrigley. She is very personable, and the living arrangements were great. The neighborhood is pretty quiet, and the house is minutes away from Duke University. I'm a little bummed that I couldn't stay longer because I really enjoyed my stay. :-)
