The Space

Ideally-situated very bright one bedroom apartment with charm and character in the Heart of Gramercy, in one of NYC's best tree-lined block. From the New York Times: "Notable are the row houses of East 19th Street between Irving Place and Third Avenue, which is known as the Block Beautiful... Not that you have to stay in the neighborhood, of course: Union Square and Greenwich Village are blocks away, and the rest of downtown Manhattan beckons just beyond..."

Our apartment is located on the 3rd floor of a beautiful building with exposed bricks and tons of character. It is quiet, gets a ton of lights and overlooks lots of greenery. It has a very strong AC unit which cools the entire home. Our place also comes with a very nice REAL large kitchen (rare in NYC), as well as a large bathroom (also rare) and a good-size living/dining room and separate bedroom. The queen size bed is incredibly comfortable, as is the L-shaped sofa, which can easily be turned into a bed for two. There is also a 42 inch flat screen TV, which is fully loaded with cable and DVR, as well as a DVD player. The entire apartment gets a ton of light and is very tastefully decorated and equipped to make your stay convenient and memorable.

There is a Trader Joe's within five minute walk (Union Square) as well as tons of restaurants, bars, shops, etc... You're also very close to the historic Gramercy Park as well as the Flatiron and tons of other NYC landmarks.

As for transportation, you're close to just about every subway and bus in the city: L to First Ave. | L to Third Ave. | 4,5,6,N,Q,R,W,L to Union Square | 6 to 23rd St.| R,W, to 23rd St. | R,W to 28th St. | 6 to 28th St. | B,D,F,N,Q,R,W,V to 34th St.-Herald Sq.| 6 to 33rd St. The m15 is also right on 1st and 2nd Avenue (VERY convenient!)

This beautiful 1 bedroom apartment is the perfect place to call home for a few days in one of New York City's best neighborhood - the perfect combination of calmness, convenience - a quiet place that's two minutes away from all the action!

By the way, the price includes cleaning fees (before and after your arrival)

  • Alex was just about as perfect a host as you can hope for! I was in NYC for a business trip, and my schedule was insane. Alex (and Daya) were exceptionally helpful and communicative without being intrusive - any question I had was answered literally within minutes! They were also very accommodating and flexible with my reservation - I needed to extend my stay by an extra day, and it was no problem at all.

As for the apartment itself, it was just wonderful. Good size, clean, very well-decorated, exactly as shown in the photos, and in a great location just a couple blocks from every major subway and bus line. The bed and couch were very comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the bathroom was spacious and clean. I worked long hours, and it was a real pleasure to come "home" to a cozy apartment every night. A 3rd floor walkup, so if you have lots of luggage just keep that in mind.

I can't recommend the apartment - and the hosts - enough. I will definitely try to stay here next time I'm in NYC. And Alex, I hope we'll manage to meet for that coffee!

  • So difficult to define the 2 weeks we spent at Alex's appartment (NYC)!
I don't want to re write the lauditive comments Alex's place has received (I of course agree with all of them), but would rather tell you about the person Alex is.
From the moment I selected this appartment to the check out time (and over), Alex has shown an incredibly kindness and availivility. We shared numerous emails and phone calls, and as time went by, I met a hearty and reliable person.
I feel like knowing him for many years...
Our stay in NYC would not have been as unforgetable as it was, without him.
I thank him (and Daya) for being the highly recommanded hosts they are!
If you're still uncertain about the appartment you want to rent in NYC, stop waisting your time looking around: You have found THE place!!!
Beyond the fact of having discovered a stupendous City, I have meet a much greater person, which I now consider as a close and faithful Friend.

  • My first New York stay could not have been more delightful. Alex's home made the experience comfortable, convenient and classic. But more than that, it is always the people who make it memorable. Alex is one of those people who go beyond to make his place more than a place to rest your head. He is helpful, communicative and flexible all the while understanding and predicting the needs of his guests. Thank you Alex for everything.

  • Alex and Daya were wonderful hosts on our first trip to New York City (and our first experience using Air B & B!). Alex was super-efficient in replying to emails/queries as well as providing some great tips for some local “non-touristy” places to visit/eat.
Fantastic, bright & clean one-bedder in Gramercy with a real sense of a local neighbourhood but still close enough to walk or grab the subway from Union Square.
Highly recommended. Would not hesitate staying here again on my next visit to NYC.

  • Staying at Alex's apartment really completed a wonderful fun week in New York. The location was perfect with easy access to the subway and in a great neighbourhood. The apartment is beautiful, clean, homey, and gets great sunlight; we found it hard to leave! Alex was the perfect host; he checked in with us a couple of times before we arrived and during our stay with suggestions and helpful tips and always promptly replied to any questions we had. I fully recommend the apartment and Alex as a host to anyone considering staying there.
