The space
Designed for couples, this home is set up for slow mornings, shared meals, and quiet time in the forest. It can sleep up to four guests, though it’s most comfortable for two.
At the heart of the home is Lovers Nest — a lofted retreat made for slowing down. A place to curl up with a book, talk for hours, or simply disappear into a softer corner of the house for a while. Blankets and pillows are already there when you need them.
The living space centers around a wood-burning fireplace, made for unhurried evenings inside after a day outdoors. The kitchen is ready for real use — everything you need for cooking, baking, and staying in together.
There’s also a workspace with a view, a large TV for easy nights in, and a billiard table for a little movement between moments of rest.
The home includes a king bedroom and a living room sofa that extends into two additional sleeping spaces. A Pack ’n Play / travel crib is available for guests traveling with little ones. Pets are welcome here as well.
The bedroom does not have blackout shades, so we’ve left eye masks for guests who prefer a darker sleep.
The house has two stairways — one leading to the apartment level, and another to the bedroom and Lovers Nest. The layout works best for guests comfortable with stairs.
Outside, the property opens into 43 private acres of forested land. There are private hiking trails, a seasonal pond, and a fire pit — simple places to walk, sit, and take in the quiet.
Starlink Wi-Fi runs throughout the home (approx. 150 Mbps), so you can stay connected if you need to, even while you’re here to disconnect.
Parking is covered in a carport with an EV charger, helping protect your vehicle from sun, rain, or snow while keeping charging simple during your stay.
The washer and dryer are located just below the apartment in the workshop and are available for guest use.
The home has central air conditioning and heating, so the temperature stays comfortable year-round, no matter the season outside.
There is an exterior security camera located at the parking area and main house entrance for safety and property monitoring. It does not face any interior or private outdoor living spaces.
Included with your stay:
43 private acres
Private hiking trails
Pond (seasonal)
Fire pit
Wood-burning fireplace
EV charger
Starlink Wi-Fi (approx. 150 Mbps)
Billiard table
Workspace with a view
Covered carport parking
Washer & dryer access
Pack ’n Play / travel crib
Pet-friendly stay
Eye masks in the bedroom
There is another home on the property, Stone House, also part of Casa Oso. The layout and access roads keep the homes naturally separated, giving each stay its own privacy. The grounds are shared, but each home has its own quiet space.
Everything is ready when you arrive — so you can settle in easily and enjoy your time together.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire home and the surrounding private property during their stay.
A second home on the property, Stone House, sits about 300 feet away and is rented separately. Larger groups sometimes reserve both homes together while still having space of their own.
Other things to note
Yosemite National Park South Gate Entrance in Fish Camp is about a 1-hour drive from Lovers Nest. The Yosemite Entrance in El Portal, where Yosemite Valley is located, is also about a 1-hour drive. Travel times can be longer during weekend rush hours and holidays, so we recommend planning accordingly.
Lovers Nest is located in a secluded area and the property is not fully fenced. Being surrounded by Yosemite means sharing the area with the local wildlife and nature that comes with it. Animals that may be seen around the property include deer, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and rabbits. Less commonly seen, but living in the area, are coyotes, bears, mountain lions, raccoons, opossums, skunks, rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and scorpions. Local plants also include poison oak and poison ivy.
Wildfires are a natural part of California, including the Sierra Nevada region. Some species, including sequoias, rely on fire as part of their natural life cycle. Wildfire season is most common between June and November.

From the host
This home is located on 43 private acres in Mariposa, California in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
While most mountain properties are located on a steep hill, all 43 acres are accessible, with over 2 miles of hiking trails for guests. The location offers incredible privacy while still being close to all that Yosemite has to offer.
Mariposa (15 minutes) and the nearby town of Oakhurst (25 minutes) were both settled during the Gold Rush and delight guests with their Wild West roots, diverse dining options, and unique attractions, like a mineralogy museum, a steam train ride, and historical villages. In this area, it’s easy to do tons of outdoor activities like skiing, tubing, water sports, sky diving, canoeing, horseback riding, climbing, and off-road excursions.
The biggest draw to this area is, of course, Yosemite National Park. The South Gate Entrance in Fish Camp is a 45-minute drive from the house and the Yosemite Entrance located in El Portal takes about an hour, although travel times do get longer during weekend rush hours and holidays.
Yosemite is world-renowned for its incredible natural beauty. Within its roughly 1,200 square miles, you’ll find deep valleys, picturesque meadows, giant sequoias, countless waterfalls, expansive wilderness, and miles of scenic hiking trails. There are endless opportunities for adventure, whether it’s hiking, biking, fishing, birdwatching, horseback riding, rock climbing (El Capitan is the biggest rock monolith in the world), stargazing, swimming, boating, skiing, snowshoeing, or scenic drives. It’s a beautiful place to visit year-round, and every season brings a different experience.
In Yosemite and the surrounding area, you’ll have opportunities to view plenty of wildlife, including deer, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and rabbits. You may even see a coyote, bear, mountain lion, raccoon, opossum, skunk, rattlesnake, tarantula, or scorpion! And be mindful of the poison oak and poison ivy that are part of the natural surroundings.
Our location is also convenient to beautiful Bass Lake, a recreational area known for excellent fishing, hiking, wakeboarding, and watersports. Bass Lake is about 30 minutes from the house.
If you want to spend time with your loved one surrounded by nature, there’s no better place to be.
