Un appartamento fantastico! Our family of three loved Stefano's apartment. The location is perfect - midway between the Colosseo and San Pietro in Vincoli and just outside the Monti district. It is easy to be in the thick of things, both touristy, and the hip Monti, but at the same time have some peace and quiet at home. The apartment faces the back and so is (relatively) quiet. This is Rome after all. The terrace is perfection for a late afternoon coffee or glass of wine, depending on the mood.
Just so you know, the seven hills of Rome are no joke and the apartment is at the top of one of them. It's about 85 steps back up from via Cavour and the Monti to the piazza in front of San Pietro. Justifies all the gelato.
The apartment is really beautifully decorated with watercolor architectural drawings that Stefano has collected. One difference from the photos - the beautiful, but extremely uncomfortable, empire sofa has been replaced by a very comfortable, modern Ikea sofa. We chose this apartment over other Airbnb apartments because of its full height floor to ceiling windows. Even though there is just one window per room the apartment is very bright and airy. And even in the heat of September, quite cool. There is no AC so I cannot speak for July or August.
In the bedroom, the bed is very comfortable and there is tons of storage area for all the clothes you bring with you and all the Italian clothes you buy here. Loved having the bust in the corner. So Roman! Stefano has an amazing collection of books, both in English and Italian. So fun to browse through!
Our 12 year old daughter enjoyed her space up in the loft.
The kitchen is quite well set up for cooking. Almost everything one could need.
The internet works great now. Stefano had a dedicated router installed in the apartment.
In short, a perfect Rome home. Did I mention the terrace?
Stefano and his staff were excellent communicators and very helpful. The location of the flat was amazing, just across the street and up some steps from the Colloseum. Walking distance to everything and right at the metro station. Very peaceful. Two great grocery stores close by, one had great prices and the other was a terrific high end store. There was a portable air conditioner in the unit, but we found the August Heat to make it a little uncomfortable. We should have asked ahead of time, and we did not ask our host for assistance, perhaps we were not using it right. We cooked a couple of nights and found the kitchen to be adequate. At that point we realized there was no dishwasher...again we should have asked. The unit is in an old building which we loved and the entrance area showed the age, not unusual in Italy, but I found it to not feel elegant. The balcony is great and the courtyard an outstanding retreat for an outdoor dinner or glass of wine while reflecting on the day. We found the upholstered furniture and rugs to be showing more wear or age than expected, but loved the beautiful antiques and mixing of modern with antique. We felt the bathroom was a bit worn(though it has been updated at some point). Great water pressure in the little shower. Overall it is a very charming flat in a great location at a very fair price. A few minor things could be easily addressed and the hospitality of the host was A+.
Our trip to Roma was amazing thanks to this wonderful apartment! Its location is just incredibly awsome: 300 meters from both the Colosseum and the hype fashion district of Monti. It's quiet, well-decorated, full of really interesting books. Also, the people we met helped us to print, book taxis etc. I would definitely recommend to go to Stefano's!
Stefano was very easy to communicate with and gave clear directions to his charming and comfortable apartment. The location is a stones throw from the Flavian Amphitheatre and the Roman Forum and it is around the corner from San Pietro in Vincoli, which houses Michelangelo's statue of Moses. There is an excellent supermarket 5 mins walk away. The beds are comfortable and the location is quiet.
Thank you Stefano for our wonderful stay at the Colosseo Art apartment. It is exactly as the pictures show. The location, just up the hill from the Colosseum, is amazing. The apartment is comfortable and inviting, especially after a long day of sightseeing. My son loved hanging out in the loft above the living room, and we had a lovely dinner out on the balcony one of the evenings. Despite being surrounded by the city with the Colosseum so close, the apartment is surprisingly tranquil-- a nice refuge where you can hear the bustle of Rome while enjoying some privacy. This is the perfect apartment for a family of three with a teenager who wants a little personal space while still being with his Mom and Dad. We loved living in the heart of Ancient Rome only steps away from the city's most iconic landmarks.
Easy going host, was very flexible in check-in time. Very nice apartment, looked similar to pictures. Only problem we had was the internet connection wasn't very stable. Good place to stay if you want access to central Rome.
Nice apartment in Rome, quite and safe area. We were 3, 2 adults and 1 teenager. We spent 7nights in Rome. We had a great time. Thanks for having us. Great little cafe on the corner for cakes, coffee and takeaway lunch.
