We built and styled this cottage out of our love for adventure, history, creating an experience and the pure romance of traveling. The space is littered with family heirlooms and pieces of antique art that tell the story of our fair city. In the morning, the sun spills through the east facing wall, lighting up the cathedral ceilings and garland cladded chandelier. In the corner of the cottage is a reading nook where you can forget about your worries and dive into any of the novels housed in the library shelves. Wave your hand in front of the electric fireplace to ignite flames that create an authentic ambience or build a real fire in the fire pit outside. Take a long bath in the stock-tank-converted tub or grab the remote for the smart TV and sign into your Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go accounts. You can also cast something from your own computer with our Chromecast. If your adventurous spirit leads you beyond the walls of the The Cleveland Cottage, hop in a Lyft/Uber and take the 5 minute ride to the famous 5 points in East Nashville or downtown to the Honky Tonks. If you get tired, no worries, we've got a personal Keurig, in our full/fully stocked kitchen, to keep you going for days.
Guest Access
The cottage is at the back of our lot, facing the alley with gated and secure parking. You will need to go through the alley to access your private parking.
Interaction with Guests
We are sisters who wanted to create a private, comfortable and romantic space for travelers to stay. One of us is a traveling musician and the other a flight attendant, so we understand the importance of comfort, community and accessibility when it comes to travel. If our schedules allow, we look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every one of our guests - that's our favorite part! We both have lived in Nashville for most of our adult lives and are more than happy to make recommendations or suggestions only a local would know :)
The Neighborhood
We live in the Historic Cleveland Park neighborhood of East Nashville adjacent to the original thoroughfare, Dickerson Rd. It is a transitional neighborhood and part of the gentrification process undergoing most surrounding, downtown neighborhoods here in Nashville. From big ol' craftsman houses to tiny, baby, paint-peeling bungalows- we have never found a more ethnically-diverse, artistic, tight-knit group of neighbors and are positive you will not only fall in love with Nashville, but also with our world-within-a-world... Cleveland friggin' Park.
Getting Around
East Nashville is centrally located for easy access to all popular hot spots. The airport is approx 10-15 minutes. If have your own car, we are 2 minutes from the main highway, 5 minutes to 5 points of East Nashville, 8-10 minutes (2.5 miles) to downtown Broadway and a 3 minute walk to the closest bus station. Nashville has an extensive Uber and Lyft community and we recommend using them if you don't have your own car. Other attractions (civil war sites and plantation museums) are within 30 mins of our little cottage.
Other Things to Note
We use the August App to lock and unlock the door at The Cleveland Cottage. You will either get an email from August explaining keyless entry or a text from us. Either way, please make sure to download the app so we can send you a key:)
For the comfort of all guests:
-No Pets
-No smoking indoors. There is an ashtray you may use in the courtyard. Please make sure the cottage doors are closed when you smoke and be mindful of your cigarette butts. Keep them in the ash tray and not in the gravel. It's no fun picking them out one by one.
-Only paying guests may stay in the rental.
-Please rinse dishes and start dishwasher before you leave
-Please make sure doors are locked, curtains are closed, and gate is shut and secured before leaving the property at anytime.
*Remember this is a family neighborhood, so noise level and atmosphere should be respectful after 10 pm.
TAXES
Lastly, as we are committed to being a part of our community and bettering it in any way we can, we are registered to collect sales/use tax and hospitality tax of I5.25 percent plus 2.5O dollars per night of your stay, as is required by the state (if you're doing the math yourself... taxes will be calculated from the reservation amount plus the cleaning fee). Airbnb is not set-up to collect these taxes so, like many other hosts in cities that require the collection of taxes, we collect direct from the guest. We try and make it as easy an experience as possible by leaving an envelope in the house with an invoice inside with the total due. Guests may leave cash or check.
