About This Listing
Quiet apartment complex, close to Pasadena and downtown L.A. Parking available on street, but if you don't have a car, not to worry--public transportation is only one block away! The complex also has two pools and one hot tub. Apartment filled with folk art from my world travels. I also have cable T.V.
You'll have the spare room to yourself, which has a queen size futon. You'll have access to a shared bathroom, kitchen and living room.
People tell me I'm a good host. Retired from Postal Service. Over 30yrs working in the theater and art scene in L.A. and elsewhere.
The location is in the suburbs more than an hour from LA.Mario is very cooperative. He picked me up from the Greyhound station at 7am.Dropped me at the Light Rail Transit station whenever I required.Highly recommended if time is not a factor.
Mario is a great host, we got along with him straight away. Everything was as it was described on his profile. He drove us to the station and picked us up whenever we needed it. It was lovely to hang out with him and talk about movies and traveling. But also he gave us our privacy when we wanted it. The pool and hot tub in his apartment complex are great and we loved relaxing there. There is a supermarket and more shops right around the corner. We had a very positive experience with Mario.
Mario is a great host. He is considerate, helpful and genuinely interested in people. He took us to the metro station every day.
His flat is located in a nice-looking and safe neighborhood with a swimming pool!
As the pictures reflects the room has a futon - not a real bed.
Mr. Mario is a wonderful, well read, experienced and kind gentleman. He was very cooperative, helpful and supportive in all matters; from bringing on his car to his house in the evening to leaving at the station in the morning. I stayed in his place for 3 nights. He is a good guide and enabled me to see lot of Los Angeles in the short time at my disposal. His house is clean; the neighborhood is calm, secure and peaceful. The house is like a museum. Mr. Mario has adorned the house with muskets and souvenirs from all over the world. He is himself a first rate tourist and seen lot of world and knows how to treat his guests in a supportive manner.
The place of Mr. Mario is very far from the city center (Union Station), about 21 km (13 miles) and not connected by bus or train. It is in fact not Los Angeles. It is a suburban area of LA. The last stop of metro train is Atlantic (Gold Line) which is about 5 km from the place of Mr. Mario. He is kind enough to provide conveyance from and to the Atlantic station but then one feels handicapped a slave to the will of the host. If he does not provide conveyance, it would be impossible to reach his house.
The real bed is not available. Sofa-cum-bed was provided. Therefore, I preferred to sleep on floor with restless nights. The door of the room has no latch, no lock and as such no privacy. The room does not have bulb holders. Two table lamps of medieval times were provided, one of which was placed on floor and other on a cane seat. One table lamp had no switch. There is no bed switch. Pillows were of low quality. No quilt or blanket was provided to fight the cold atmosphere of small hours. Half a dozen pieces of warm clothes were provided to use as blanket. The room is nor worth living and is sub standard.
Once you are in the house, you can go nowhere. You have got no key of the house. I felt as if I was in the prison. I felt relieved once I left the house for good. Since the guest has no other source of transportation, he is forced to accept the terms of Mr. Mario for coming and going to any place. I may come again to meet Mr. Mario but not to reside at his place. The place is not worth the money I spent. I would prefer to stay at some other costlier place, nearer to city if life gives another chance to visit LA.
