Quiet apartment complex, close to Pasadena and downtown L.A. Parking available on street, but if you don't have a car, not to worry--public transportation is only one block away! The complex also has two pools and one hot tub. Apartment filled with folk art from my world travels. I also have cable T.V.
You'll have the spare room to yourself, which has a queen size futon. You'll have access to a shared bathroom, kitchen and living room.
People tell me I'm a good host. Retired from Postal Service. Over 30yrs working in the theater and art scene in L.A. and elsewhere.
Overall we had a very pleasant experience staying with Mario, he was very hospitable, the room was very very cozy and clean. Mario went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and respected our privacy. Thanks again Mario for warmly welcoming us to your home we look forward to possibly staying with you again in the future. :)
Very nice and pleasant stay. Mario is very friendly and helpful with all you need. The bed was in cozy room and was comfy. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Thank you for welcoming me into your home and engaging with me every day during my stay. :)
It was fun and also insightful to learn of Los Angeles and other places in the world through your eyes.
Thank you also for picking me up and dropping me off every day at Atlantic, that's definitely above the call of duty as an Airbnb host!

Mario was very welcoming and made me feel at home right away. Mario's an open-minded and mellow fellow which you'll appreciate the more you talk together.
Mario's apartment is comfortable and has lots of interesting art everywhere. This is very much a life's work and has to been admired closely to be appreciated. The collection brings his home a very light hearted and positive vibe.
Mario was happy to engage with me in conversation about his travels and also more personal experiences in life which I appreciated.
The guest room futon is comfortable, although you may feel a little chilly if it's the winter and you haven't stacked up the available blankets in the cupboard. (This seems to be a common theme amongst the Angelino's I've been staying with as everyone only has blankets designed for hot weather!)
The guest room doesn't have it's own desk but you can use the table in the front room.
Of note is that the bathroom is split in two, with the shower and loo in a room with a door and the sink and mirror outside in a central hallway space which connects all the rooms in the apartment. While it didn't bother me personally, it could be an issue for people who want total privacy when washing their face, shaving or doing their hair and teeth etc.
The area is calm and safe and pleasant to walk around. There's a nice view from the top of the block overlooking Rose Hills to the east and Long Beach to the south. You can see the planes in the distance circling heading for LAX which looks slightly surreal.
There's a Vons supermarket nearby with friendly staff and a decent selection of food. The guys in the El Patio Mexican restaurant on the same block were also very friendly with me. and I spent about an hour talking with them one evening .
There's a bus that goes into Downtown LA at the bottom of the street, yet Mario very kindly offered to drive me to Atlantic Metro station when I arrived and left, and also every time I wanted to go into town which was handy.
Getting to DTLA from Atlantic station takes about 15 - 20 minutes on the Metro + not including the extra 5 minute drive from Mario's to Atlantic station.
Overall Mario was an good host I'm glad to have met and had the opportunity to stay in his home. :)
Mario was an excellent host who was very accommodating and helpful in my travels. The listing was exactly as described, and I would recommend this place to anyone.
Mario's place was just what I was hoping for! He was able to accommodate me at the last minute, was super flexible with my arrival time, helpful and friendly. I loved his very decorated apartment and it reminded me of the eclectic and art-filled home I grew up in! There was no shortage of things to look at and talk about, and Mario has tons of information about LA. Plus I got a great sleep, the room was very quiet and cozy. Thanks, Mario!
Mario is a great guy! Very welcoming, and went above and beyond with picking us up and dropping us off at the station. Really did everything he could to make us comfortable even though we were only there for one night!
