The Space

Welcome to Ubud - the heart and soul of Bali! You've come to Ubud to experience the culture, the yoga, the delicious food, a detox or maybe just a little r&r. This home is located in a private, but central location to all of it!

We welcome you to our personal home, Bona House. You'll love feeling the breezes while lounging in the main living area, a covered open air space that includes a living room, Balinese style dining room and kitchen. You can spend hours lounging on the comfy oversized sectional made of woven water hyacinth. It's a unique piece that will capture much of your time. Or eat dinner underneath the canopy of the dining room while comfortably sitting on plush cushions. This is Bali relaxing comfort.

Bona House is a private residence, situated next to (and with beautiful views of) the rice fields of Ubud.
The location of Bona House is superb. Walking down the little path that leads to our door, you'll stroll past newly planted rice fields, typical local homes and luxury villas. That's why we love this area! The mix is so perfect.

We are located in the highly sought after and convenient neighborhood of Penestanan. The neighborhood has a mix of residents and expats and is within walking distance to downtown Ubud and a plethora of restaurants, spas, etc.

Intuitive Flow Yoga Sanctuary - 6 minutes,
Bintang Supermarket - 10 minute walk
Several delicious restaurants and warungs (Sari Organic, Bayu's Kitchen, Dream Warung, Warung Sharaschwaty)- 2 minutes
Alchemy (a popular raw bar and detox center) - 2 minutes
Eve Spa (superb massages...try the 4 hand massage) - 2 minutes. Drop off laundry is available 1 minute away and is very reasonable (10 cents - 20 cents per piece).

Bona House has 2 bedrooms.
Master Bedroom: Queen Bed and Day bed
2nd Bedroom: Bunk beds: Queen on bottom, twin on top.
1 large bathroom.

It'(email hidden)e living, dining and kitchen area are open air. The bedrooms and bathroom are fully enclosed, but have large sliding doors that you can leave open at night to breathe in the cool night air of the Bali mountains. We have several fans around the home for your comfort.

We have 3 green areas that surround the home. A large side yard (which is rare in Ubud) begs children to play, a blue swimming pool is perfect for a quick cool off and the entry yard makes for a wonderful welcome home.

The yard has a beautiful fort made entirely of bamboo. It engages young and old. And we have extensive veggie gardens, banana & fruit trees.

The cultural capital- Ubud- is just a three minute drive or 10 minute walk to center of Ubud.

Our staff of three will make your stay relaxing. We have a housekeeper, cook and night security guard that will take care you. Breakfast included!

**** Password Secured WIFI **** throughout the entire home.
You'll have the fastest internet connection you can get here!

There is no public transport in Ubud, but a taxi to town will only cost $3 or less. Or you can simply stroll the 10-15 minutes and enjoy the sites, stop at the many restaurants and warungs along the way.

Included in your stay is a daily breakfast of local fruit, Bali coffee or tea and your choice of eggs and/or Bali pancakes. If you feel like spending a relaxing day at Bona house, you can order lunch or dinner in (most restaurants deliver). There are several delicious restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk of Bona House. Great pizza, curries, chicken satays, raw food and authentic Indonesian food are just a few steps away.

If all the above resonates with you, then you've found your place in Ubud.

  • Staying at Bona House was excellent in all aspects - Sabina was extremely prompt and helpful in making the booking and arranging airport pickup. The staff at the villa were great with our kids (aged 2 and 3 months) and the layout of the place (connecting bedrooms), the pool (shady area over shallow bit all day) and the garden were ideal for us. Our 2 year old son loved the garden with the climbing frame, frogs, lizards and butterflies. Location-wise, there is a good warung about 30 seconds away for meals and Penestanan village (10 mins walk) has decent coffee, patisserie and restaurants. It is also only a few minutes in a taxi to Ubud. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone (especially if you have young kids).

  • The villa is in a very nice neighborhood, quite and lush. Love the garden and open space inside the villa. My least favorite is the bathroom and the facility host provided. The towles were very dirty and we got only 3 sets for the 5 of us. We stayed for 4 nights and no service to change clean towles. The helpers were very nice. However, we were a bit intimated at the beginning because the host did not provide any information and we got to orientate ourselves to things, and figure out who is who and what to do. We did not receive any communication from the host during our stay. Overall, it is a very nice villa! I would recommend the host to provide a bit more service as a vacation house.

  • We spent a week over Christmas at this beautiful family villa. We have two teenaged girls who loved the pool, the garden and the outside sitting area. We spent almost all of our time outside on the patio. We were very comfortable whether it was raining (torrential rains at times!) or sunny. To take care of us we had a cook, a guard (who met us every evening with a flashlight to lead us back to the house), and the gardener/house maid. Each one of these employees was friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Ubud is a busy city full of traffic. It was so nice to escape this noise in our own private and quiet villa. The city is not far away but it would be difficult to walk to from the villa as the scooters and cars on the narrow roads go fast. We choose to use a driver (Komang) that Sabina recommended. He was available to drive us around all week. It was convenient and nice to have someone to answer all of our questions and give suggestions. However, you don't need a driver as there are plenty of taxis which are easy to find and not expensive.
Within an easy walk from the villa are restaurants, health food stores, a yoga studio and a few spas.
It is a lovely villa, a beautiful spot to spend a week or more. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom large and the place very clean. Sabina and her family are lucky as they have (email hidden) to live!

  • The King's house is simply AMAZING. We had the opportunity to stay there for several nights and could not have been happier with our choice. We were slightly surprised that you can't actually drive up to this house, you have to walk from the road about 400m down a path. Although this is a bit inconvenient initially given our bags, it left us in a very peaceful place (quite quiet at night, able to leave all the doors open). Between the beautiful pool and the bamboo fort, our two young children were in a state of "unplugged-in" bliss! We enjoyed having such a peaceful retreat to come back to after exploring the town of Ubud. The house staff are wonderful and greatly contributed to the enjoyment of our stay. The cook is a very kind woman who also ended up being a resource for babysitter and massages, which were very affordable and given to us by the pool by two wonderful local women. We would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a private, quiet getaway that is located in your own little oasis of luxury! In fact, we have already told all of our friends about it, so you'd better book quickly!

  • Amazing place!

The villa is large, comfortable and surrounded by nature. Staff was very friendly and always helped us so well.

It's true that the villa is far from the center of Ubud, but we could walk. Walking from the villa to Pri Saren Agung took about 15-20 minutes. There are some cafes and restaurants around the villa. If you want to take a taxi, you can ask staff to call it.

We'd like to stay again! Thanks a lot!

  • This villa is an absolutely great place! We were traveling with 2 kids (3,9) and spent 4 days in Ubud. When we arrived my first reaction was "Wow, This is really all 'ours'?!". The roofed outdoor veranda was our favourite place day and night - even or especially when it once rained. The garden is very big with private pool and swings/climbing construction for kids. The 'good ghosts' (3 persons) make breakfast, tidy up and guard at night. We really had the feeling 'This is our place'.
You cannot go there by car (moped, yes, there are lots of..) and have to walk the last 200-300 meters (they will help with the luggage!). I only had to get used to the cockcrows from all surrounding gardens and fields starting very early at night. (But later during our travel we had muezzins, discos, noisy streets - so animal noises were the least problem). To Ubud center it's some minutes with the taxi (maybe one could walk WITHOUT KIDS) for less than USD 3. - All in all: Absolutely recommendable!!
