Our vacation-ready condo is located in a first-class neighborhood, just above Alamitos Bay. It's between the ocean and Cal State Long Beach, a few minutes from the attractions of Belmont Shores and beyond.
Amenities of all kinds abound. You are easy walking/cycling distance from scores of restaurants, supermarkets and malls, the university and V.A., major parks and marinas, and all the nightlife of 2nd Street.
The L.A. region's best beaches are next door. Seal Beach is less than three miles..."secret" Sunset Beach is five miles...and legendary "Surf City" Huntington Beach is 11 miles down Pacific Coast Highway.
Our condo is relatively large -- a full 1,100 square feet (about 110 square meters) -- and it features:
> Two big bedrooms, each with a large walk-in closet. The Master has a Queen bed (see photo), while the Guest Bedroom has another large bed for two, plus a set of bunkbeds.
> Two full bathrooms, one attached to the master bedroom, one adjacent to the guest bedroom. (All sheets and towels are provided.)
> The layout is open. The expansive living and dining area is joined to the kitchen by a convenient breakfast bar.
> The kitchen offers a full-size refrigerator, a stove, oven, extra-large microwave, coffeemaker, and dishwasher.
> There is a wall of glass in the living room *and* large sliding doors in each bedroom, all opening onto a private, 300-square-foot, fully fenced veranda with plenty of sun.
> Other amenities in the condo include wifi, cable TV, DVR, DVD player, and lots of sports/recreation gear.
The condo complex, called Stoneybrook, includes:
> Two huge swimming pools, the closest of which is adjacent to our building, and heated year-round.
> Four large heated jacuzzi spas (two indoors).
> Two cedar-lined saunas (separate for men and women).
> Free gas BBQs, and picnic tables by the pools.
> A large and comfortable Clubhouse with huge flat-screen TV, wireless internet, billiards table, and ping-pong table.
> A well-equipped gym in the Clubhouse.
> A pair of tennis courts in excellent condition.

Our condo is in the ideal location for a visit to SoCal. It is highly convenient to such famous attractions as the world's first Disneyland, California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Plaza, the L.A. Music Center, Disney Hall, Olvera Street, Venice Beach, Universal Studios, and Hollywood.
It is also very convenient to the lesser-known Little India, Little Saigon, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Little Tokyo, Santee Alley, and the many other destinations that make SoCal so vibrant and unique.
Our condo comes with secure, covered, off-street parking for two cars -- an important factor, as parking can be a true nightmare in many areas of Long Beach and L.A.
The Stoneybrook complex is exceptionally well-maintained, with lush gardens and ponds throughout. This is an upscale neighborhood, and secured gates and nightly security patrols ensure added peace of mind. An immaculate laundry room offers high-efficiency washing machines and large dryers.
Stoneybrook is popular with friendly people of all ages, from college students to seniors. Our complex is definitely kid-friendly, yet our condo is in a quiet location. Great combo.
You will be a few minutes from both the 405 and 605 freeways, equi-distant from West L.A., Downtown L.A., and Orange County.
There are at least seven major shopping malls within 15 miles, including the world-famous mecca for shoppers, South Coast Plaza.
The Long Beach airport is four miles away, and both LAX and John Wayne airports are less than 25 miles.
Long Beach has excellent public transportation, including the Blue Line train, which connects with the entire SoCal rail network.
Small dogs are welcome. Unfortunately, we can't accept cats. There are simply too many people who are allergic (including members of our family).
Please note that Stoneybrook has strict rules about outside visitors. You are welcome to enjoy our condo and all the amenities in the complex, however large parties are not allowed in the community areas.
We have no time limit on stays. If you're looking for long-term accommodations, talk to us about special rates.

In Southern California, unlike many places/cities, the general rule for happiness is: Stay close to the ocean!
Our condo is located right in the middle of all the action -- halfway between Santa Monica and Laguna Beach, Santa Barbara and San Diego. You can't find a more convenient home base for SoCal adventures.

Swimming pool and hot tubs heated year-round, cedar saunas, free gas BBQs, modern gym, tennis courts, and Clubhouse with huge TV, billiards table, ping-pong table are all on premises. Many beaches and parks within minutes.
Long Beach is one of the top cities in America for bicycling. It also has a great bus system, and a train line which connects to all other SoCal transit.
Mike was a great host and very responsive to the minor things that came up. The condo is very spacious and stocked with just about everything you could need. The condo complex is very quiet and private and the people are friendly and helpful and there's a really nice heated pool. The location is excellent, with easy access to all of Long Beach and several freeways and also a bike path that covers most of the city. I highly recommend this choice.
We will split this review up in two parts: one concerning the apartment we stayed in and the other one concerning our two hosts, Mike and Kiyoe.
First, regarding the host: Definitely 5/5 stars! Mike and Kiyoe were extremely nice and reliable hosts. They could be reached anytime in case of problems, were helpful, and, in general, went way beyond what would be expected from them in terms of their support. For instance, when we first arrived at the Condo, Kiyoe had already equipped the fridge with the most important food items and had even baked cookies for us. Also, we were invited to Mike's Thanksgiving gathering, another very nice and generous gesture. Mike and Kiyoe spontaneously checked in with us several times per email, simply to ask whether everything was okay. Thus, we definitely could not have wished for better hosts.
Regarding the condo: We would rate the condo as 3/5 stars. The location is very nice, the neighborhood appears to be safe, the beach can easily be reached by bicycle and even on foot, if you are willing to take a 45-min walk or so. The apartment complex is beautiful and includes many amenities, including a nice pool and spa, work-out room, tennis courts, ping-pong tables, clubhouse with big-screen TV, etc. So absolutely no complaints in that regard. Unfortunately, the condo itself is quite dark, apart from a short period (about 1 hour) of sunshine on the patio in the morning. After 11 am, you need to have the lights on inside, which can get depressing if you plan on spending a lot of time at home. Also, it appears that there are quite a few college kids living in the complex, so that we had a few noisy nights (not many though). One last issue was cleanliness: the apartment was not very clean when we got there. There was hair in one of the bathtubs, and there was a foul smell and a few fruit flies in the kitchen sink. We took care of the smell using an air refreshener, but we never quite got rid of the flies, even after cleaning the drain of the sink using chemicals. (Again, it must be mentioned, however, that Mike and Kiyoe reacted immediately when we told them about the problems.)
To summarize, we were clearly more excited about our hosts than about the apartment itself. Overall, we arrive at a 4/5 star rating, and we would let future guests decide whether it is the hosts or the place that is more important to them.

Wow. They say you have to expect some lackluster reviews, but after so many nice ones, even an 80% review comes as a surprise!
We of course thank Kaspar for his kind review of our hosting; we try to ensure great holidays for all guests. And he's certainly right about the location, neighborhood, and wide range of condo amenities. Everyone loves those.
Regarding the condo itself...we're not sure how to respond about the natural light. This review did come during the shorter days of the Winter Solstice, and the three-story building does block some sun, but it's still California, the wall of windows does face south, and although we looked at a few pages of past reviews, we didn't find any similar concerns.
As you can see, this review from Sheila is pretty typical:
"This is a perfect place, we loved it! The pool and gardens are wonderful. The location is very good for exploring the LA area. The condo is clean and spacious and immediately felt like home away from home."
The same goes for noise. We have spent a great deal of quiet family time in this condo over the years, and no other guest has mentioned it...?
Regarding the cleanliness at check-in, we have to apologize for any details that may have been missed. We had a group of young men just before, and only a few hours to get the condo turned around in between. The boys were great...but they were boys, not overly concerned about cleaning up or disposing trash on the most timely basis! We are sorry that we missed hair in one tub, and for the few fruit flies. Mike personally went on a ninja mission against the latter, and thought he had accomplished his goal. We wish Kaspar had let us know that there was any continuing problem, as we would have addressed it immediately. All we can say today is that we have been through every inch of every kitchen cabinet, drawer, and even behind the fridge, and there's no sign of anything unwanted.
Overall, guests have given us 4.5 or 5 stars for every individual attribute of the condo, and we look forward to keeping those ratings high.

Le hôte nous a très bien reçu , Kiyoe nous attendu et nous a fait visité la redidence dans sa totalité. une femme au grand cœur qui sait accueillir nous avons eu le droit a qq courses pour notre venue.
Concernant la location, tout correspondait au descriptif de m annonce conforme aux photos pas de surprise a l arrivée. une résidence idéale pour les familles, tout y est pour passer un agréable séjour. Nous y retournerons sans problème dans ce merveilleux Condo.

We were welcomed very warmly to the Condo by a friend of the owner. No question were left unanswered. The fresh muffins and fruit basket as well as fresh juice and milk in the fridge made us feel even more welcome. The whole condo has everything you need to have a carefree stay, everything seems to have its well thought place and everything is additional well described in the house manual. The pool, rec room, tennis court, gym, spa and BBQ (you name it) is available and well maintaned in the complex. The neighbourhood is quiet but not deserted. The location is very convenient and close to the beach. We could go there by bike. The shopping as well can be done on foot. Everything is very close to how the description was given, so only good surprises. Mike's suggegstions for trips were very helpful and well liked by the whole family. When there was a problem with the condo, Mike responded very fast and came past immediately and fixed or got things on its way. We had a relaxing stay here.
