Stunning large 'cottage style' house - nestled in a secluded wooded area, down a little country "boreen", under the Seefin mountain. It is surrounded by river, lakes and sea, and situated a mile from Glenbeigh village on the majestic Ring of Kerry.
This 4 bedroom house is brand new, and finished to the highest standards. Tastefully furnished, with solid oak floors and doors, equipped with all high quality appliances (from kitchen to surround sound audio-visual equipment) as well as wireless internet. The house boasts a traditional sauna, jacuzzi bath and rain-forest showers. It has underfloor heating throughout, via an eco-friendly geo-thermal system. There are large outdoor patio areas, perfect for barbecues and enjoying the fresh unrivalled country air. The property is surrounded by trees and has a wonderful rustic hideaway feel to it.
The location is idyllic; with beautiful beaches, Caragh Lake and River, the excellent Dooks Golf Links and some of the finest hillwalking terrain in Ireland on your doorstep. Perfect rustic holiday base, especially for those interested in golfing, fishing, hillwalking, watersports, horse-riding or just touring this most beautiful part of Ireland. The house and surrounding area will also be particularly appealing to artists/writers/musicians looking to be inspired in a beautiful natural environment.
The small charming village of Glenbeigh is just down the road and has a supermarket and a small selection of local shops, traditional pubs and restuarants. There are a couple of excellent gourmet restaurants in Cromane and Caragh Lake ( 3 miles away). Killorglin (6 miles) is a medium sized Irish town with a lively social scene and a wide array of pubs and restaurants to choose from. The town also boasts a good live music scene. Killarney (16 miles) is arguably the tourist capital of Ireland, with all associated attractions and amenities, including its famous national park. The area is well served by local taxis, should one wish to have a night on the town and leave the car at home. Further afield places of note include Dingle town and peninsula, Kenmare, Waterville and the awe-inspiring Skellig islands (25-40 miles).
Apart from the great natural beauty of the area, this is a very historic and mythical part of Ireland, which features prominently in the great Irish folklore tales. Indeed there is even an ancient 'holy well' up the road from the house with alleged curative powers. If you are looking to venture into the mystic, mythic beauty of rural Ireland, this will undoubtedly be the place for you.

I could not recommend Peter's house enough to Sightseers, Holiday makers, families and especially musicians. We needed a place to write our new album in and Peter's place was perfect, surrounded by gorgeous landscapes, the friendliest people you could meet in neighbouring towns and villages and the most amazing beaches and views this country has. Peter gave us free reign to turn his house into a home studio where we set up drums, amps and P.A systems, we worked late at night and never had one bit of hassle. The house was so comfortable and spacious and equipped with everything you could need, The house and has an amazing creative vibe. Most importantly Peter as a host could not have done any more for us, ringing to see if we needed guitar strings or if we needed someone to record or shoot the session. We will never forget our week in Glenbeigh. Big love, Gar- The Riptide Movement.
Unfortunately we never met our host Peter in person, but we were greeted by his father 'Owen' in Killorglin and then shown to the house. Having checked reviews, pictures and even google earth to ensure we were staying in the right place, our first, second and third impressions were far better than any expectations we could have had. Peter presents a beautiful house, with more room than you could possibly use (we were a family of 6 and never even saw a couple of rooms). Staying in winter, the sitting room had a lovely fireplace which had ample firewood cut and available and very greatly appreciated.
The house is slightly isolated, approximately 3 minutes drive to Glenbeigh and about 10 minutes to Killorglin if you need supplies. There are numerous wonderful drives and walks right on your doorstep and many of the pictures taken within walking distance of Peters house will feature in our holiday album.
I can't speak highly enough of Peter, from initial communication to presentation of his property to feedback after our stay.
This is one property she I can honestly say the pictures do not do it justice. Thank you Peter, we will recommend you to everyone, please also thank your father for his hospitality.
Peter's house made a really comfortable and relaxing base for our holiday in Kerry. It was a pleasure to arrive back to the warm, spacious, nicely decorated home after exploring/sightseeing in the changeable Irish weather.
We had a wonderful time here at Peter's. His house is just as he describes....a beautiful, tranquil place.
My family and I had a wonderful time at Peter's cottage. The house was wonderful and a great base for exploring the ring of Kerry. Peter's dad gave a great recommendation for sightseeing at a local lake which was a wonderful and peaceful introduction to whole trip. Peter was very helpful in answering any questions before we got there, and very kindly called to check everything was ok for us while we were there. Luckily for us the weather was also superb and we couldn't have had a better time. I can highly recommend Peter and his cottage and I'd love to visit again some time.
The Cottage was hidden in the woods and was everything it was promised to be. Peter's Father took time from his life to meet us at a pub near the cottage. After a quick dessert (& pint) he guided us to the place and showed us around. the house had every amenity listed and they were all in good order.
There was a grocery store 2 KM away for us to buy those items we had forgotten. The cottage is well placed for touring the "touristy" part of Ireland. Peter's dad even took the time to meet us midwek at a local pub where we enjoyed a few more pints while being treated to a local musical group playing traditional irish music. One of our fellow travelers even joined in.
Peter's cottage is delightful! The location could not be better, for exploring all that the region has to offer. The cottage is well-stocked, and we enjoyed BBQ on the Weber and a cooking-ready kitchen. And it's a beautiful home, truly. Owen was our contact and he took great care in checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. We took his advice on site-seeing and were not disappointed! Thank you so much, Owen! We'd be back in a heartbeat, our Ireland vacation was perfect.
Originally from the best of the west coast (it's not called "the Kingdom" for nothing!), and currently working in university in Dublin. Things I love include music (being a musician myself), active outdoors sports (especially in water), the changing of the seasons, architecture/design, good books, great films, funky art, fine coffee, stimulating conversation, meeting new people....and of course travelling to interesting new places (which Airbnb makes so easy and appealing). I have traveled far and wide throughout this great world of ours, and now take great pleasure in welcoming people to my own little patch of it.
I finished building my Kerry cottage home in 2012. It was a genuine labour of love; fulfilling a long held ambition to have my own beautiful place in the beautiful area I grew up in. Now I enjoy sharing it whenever possible with fellow travelers looking for an idyllic base in the heart of majestic, mystical Kerry.
