About This Listing
A comfortable room in a lovely flat and neighbourhood.
I have been hosting on airbnb for 6 years and have always loved it. I hope my flat gives your trip that extra little something and I can help you with any questions and tips.
The apartment is next to a very good subway line that can get you anywhere you want in the city. If you want to stay close to 'home' there is a big beautiful park and the neighbourhood is surrounded by cafés and galleries.
The room is located in a flat with two other rooms, shared with other airbnb guests, friends of mine who are visiting, or interesting people that are coming to be close to my project and exchange skills and knowledge. I always try to look out for a nice set up of people and am happy to say that I made some great friends through airbnb.
The apartment is located right in front AGORA, where I work. It might be interesting to know a little bit more about the project, since you'll be its temporary neighbour and a lot of interesting things go on there on a daily basis:
Offering multiple possibilities on its four floors, Agora is a space where individual and co-working ideas can take place in an inspiring environment.
Situated in an industrial building in the heart of Neukölln, Berlin. Flexible and hybrid, Agora offers co-working space, atelier, desk-spaces, a living/loft space and hosts exhibitions and different sorts of cultural events.
Look us up on the internet to get a better impression of what we are doing.
Other Things to Note
Keep everything as you found it and clean up after messing things. We will be sharing the place after all :).
No smoking inside
One day prior to my trip, I've sent Taina a message about my arrival. Only when I was already in Berlin and heading to her place, I received a message saying the apartment was not ready but I could drop things and go for a walk. I replied saying Ok, but when I arrived at the apartment, no one was there. I called Taina 5 times, no success.
I went to a cafe and hours after, she answer. She said she tried to call me, but I had no missed calls or an airbnb mesaage. She said in 20 minutes she was going to be there, but when I arrived 30 minutes after, she was still on her way.
I knew Taina rented other rooms to airbnb guests, but I didn't know she doesn't live there. 6 people in the apartment and Since the host doesn't live there, within 2 days the bathroom was a little smelly.
Next day the main door had a problem. All guests tried so solve it without success. I called Taina 5 times, no answer. She sent a sms saying she would be there in 10 minutes. I reply the sms, asking her to solve it. 6 hours later when I returned, I could not open the door. I tried to call her again but she didn't answer. I went to her office. When I said I tried to call, she said "oh, I didn't know it was you". So why she replied saying she was going to the apartment? After I told what happened, she told me she haven't gone there because I didn't call again, so she thought whatever the problem was, it was solved and that never got my sms back. If a guest call me 5 times, I will call back definitely.
We went for a long walk and during it, we tried to call her several times. Finally she answer, saying everything was ok. Then she told us there was only one key but at 7pm she would give us one. At 8pm, no keys, no Taina and we were late, we had a dinner with a friend. We decided to go to a hostel and send aibnb a message to solve everything. I was in Berlin for a wedding and really, didn't want to discuss it with a messy host. During the wedding party, Taina sent me a very passive-agressive sms, teaching me how to deal with people and that I should always go to a hotel.
When I rent a room in airbnb, I expect to have daily contact with the host. Otherwise I would stay in a hotel. If Taina wants to make place in a bnb and appear only to give keys , she should at least answer people promptly. 2nd time in Berlin with a complicated host that just rents rooms, doesn't live there and take hours or days to reply. Airbnb promises experience with locals but this is worse than a poor hostel experience.
I've spent with my boyfriend one week at Taina's flat and we've shared it with other three people. The flat itself is very nice, with a good location in a quiet neighborhood perfectly connected with the Ubahn lines. The negative aspects of our permanence are related to the cleanliness of the flat and to our room: the bathroom smells, there is mold and the bed was terrible! On the other side I can say that the kitchen is more or less always available and good equipped.
Overall clean apartment on a communicative place (5 min from the U-bahn). Photos look a bit better than the real house, doors need some repair
The apartament was greit! Everything perfect! The ubication also! And Taína gave us a lot of information and help us, She was greit!
Taina seemed very nice, friendly and helpful.
The apartment was on 4th floor and there was an elevator. The house was easily accessible, U-bahn stations and grocery stores were near. Lovely neighbourhood, although most of my favourite places were about 20 minutes walking distance. And i saw a real fox walking in the street. That was a nice experience. The room has enough space for hanging clothes, placing bags etc.
Now something negative. The window is nice and big but has no curtains and there is an apartment building on the opposite side of the street. I didn´t mind that but i think it´s an important information as another reviewer was complaining and she was replied that there will be curtains soon (in July!). The whole apartment is very humid. There is some mould in the room also. The stage of cleanliness would have seemed ok, if there wasn´t an extra charge 20€. I´m ok with some hair in the sink etc but the bathroom looked like the dust has been there for ages. The room itself seemed more clean, maybe the cleaning fee was just for cleaning the private room...

About the Host, Taina
My name is Tainá and I am living in Berlin for over two years, I have been hosting on airbnb for four years and started doing it while I was a film student in Amsterdam.
I love to travel and find that airbnb is a great way to meet new people and get a bit of the adventurous feeling while I cant be on the road myself :).
My work is very much who I am, and I live right in front of it.
I run a project space called Agora that has many different projects. I am very sure everyone will enjoy the atmosphere, if it is to drink a coffee in the café, enjoy some sun in the garden, see an expo or meet some interesting people :).
Let me know if you have any questions, Id be happy to answer them!
