Tim and Katie are both very nice and they make you feel welcome in their place.
Katie fue muy amable, así como Tim, aunque fuera sólo una noche, todo fue exactamente como lo describireron, su atención fue cálida y amable, lo recomiendo 100%
Tim being a sailor, and that was the way he and Katie happened across Gilfito, is the perfect host for visiting sailors. They offer a relaxed hospitable space for sailors to spend time on shore when they anchor,and a TV room and drinks fridge. Accommodation is also available if they need it. Katie is dynamic and a busy successful real estate person. But she found the time to take me on my first kayaking trip to a nearby island where we enjoyed a lobster lunch for prices city folk could only dream of!! If Katie and Tim decide to move on, it will take a special couple to take their place.
I came to see the whole country and get a feel for its people and culture, and Katie and Tim didn't disappoint .They were the perfect hosts . I am not what U would call well travelled, so I probably asked a lot of stupid questions but they answered them all. And all the critters made me feel right at home, even the grouchy old one was my buddy by the time I left.The lodgings were amazing, and so was the cost.I hope to move to this beautiful country permanently ASAP and even if Golfitos not my landing zone My time here felt very special, and I will visit here again even when I am in CR full time.Met some great fellow travellers here too and hope they all have safe trips...Thanks again Katie and Tim...ps feeding bananas to the wild giant see turtle was the topper..TOO KOOL. A.
We had a wonderful stay at this place, very friendly hosts and loads of storys to hear. The area is very cheap for CR.
There is not much around to do - use the kayaks !
The place is super clean and has super view over the laguna!
You need to know;
There is a street close to the house it will be a bit loud
Fun time for all in Golfito. We arrived and were immediately invited to a pot luck with a host of round the world sailors. It was like a movie set to us. We enjoyed tuna steaks for dinner and stories and fun times. The beds are oomfortable and the space was ours for private use after 8 PM. We walked from the ferry terminal with packs quite easily. The deck adjacent to the room overlooks the bay where sailboats are moored . There is a community room where drinks are available from the cooler. Over all it was fun and convenient place to stays
Katie and Tim were great hosts. My family and I enjoyed our two days and nights at their facility.

About the Host, Katie
Katie Duncan arrived to Costa Rica while traveling aboard the sailing vessel 'Caribbee', pleasure cruising with Captain Tim Leachman. With no previous thought to making a home abroad or settling permanently outside their home town of Santa Barbara, California, their cruise down the pacific coast was only meant to be a short escape - a season of fun on the ocean. But something magical happened during those first weeks at anchor in the port town of Golfito . The beautifully calm natural harbor, the verdant green and fantastical sounds of the surrounding jungle, the welcoming bustle of a quaint port town on shore.... It all conspired to lure them into staying longer than planned. One thing led to another and opportunities just kept presenting themselves. The chance for mortgage free property ownership, an easy infrastructure for setting up a business and realizing the dream of self employment, the lure of a more casual lifestyle among a culture of practical and economical living.... Yes, a life with this kind of adventure and joy was too tempting not to embrace! In Katie's words, "there was never a question- we loved Golfito from the moment we pulled into port. It just took a few years to really see and believe that we could make choices to stay and that we could succeed! It's an incredibly bold thing to take a new and unconventional route in life, but not nearly as difficult as one might imagine. Yes, there were challenges along the way. But looking back on it, overcoming the obstacles often made the journey even more exciting and brought more satisfaction and rewards than could have ever been anticipated."
Sharing the fun, the experiences and the expertise gained over the past 20 is Katie's vocation - . and so obviously her pleasure! Katie and the team of competent people working along with her at Land Sea Services are very well equipped with the experience and ability to guide you into your adventures, assisting you all along the journey!
