This place is great. The view was wonderful and the unit was very comfortable and well stocked. Everything is better than the pictures. The internet is a little slow but having a TV in the evenings was nice. The restaurant across the street has a great view. We were able to take the water taxis over to Punta Jimenez for the national park. We went kayaking one morning and they told us about the Tower road that went up the mountain for a spectacular view of the water and mountains below. Katie was a wonderful host.

We stayed three nights in Katy's Casita. It is located right on Golfito's main (and virtually only street). We parked on the street with no problems. Unfortunately, because we had some work to attend to, the casita's internet was not working. In our opinion the casita was tastefully and comfortably furnished and decorated. Its kitchen was well-equipped and very handy. Communications with Katy were clear and prompt, and Lisa who checked us in was very helpful and friendly. As it turns out we found Golfito itself unpleasant. It does have an interesting history, but even though it fronts right on the water the configuration of the bay cuts off all cooling breezes making the weather stifling. But, if you have a reason to be in Golfito Katy 'a properties are a good choice.

Katie was ou on errands when we arrived, but her friends made us feel very welcome on the dock while we waited (about 10 min) for her to return.

Wonderful little house with quiet, comfortable bedroom, delightful porch, and nice kitchen area. Across the street from a restaurant on the water with great happy hours and easy to walk to other places to eat and buy groceries. Katie is a friendly host and very knowledgeable about the area. She helped us out a lot. Read her tips before coming about taxi costs! Loved our stay in Golfito and would recommend it to others.

The Casita was very cute and clean, with A/C and good hot water! It was just what we needed after a long and taxing hike in Corcovado. I would definitely stay here again!

Katie Duncan arrived to Costa Rica while traveling aboard the sailing vessel 'Caribbee', pleasure cruising with Captain Tim Leachman. With no previous thought to making a home abroad or settling permanently outside their home town of Santa Barbara, California, their cruise down the pacific coast was only meant to be a short escape - a season of fun on the ocean. But something magical happened during those first weeks at anchor in the port town of Golfito . The beautifully calm natural harbor, the verdant green and fantastical sounds of the surrounding jungle, the welcoming bustle of a quaint port town on shore.... It all conspired to lure them into staying longer than planned. One thing led to another and opportunities just kept presenting themselves. The chance for mortgage free property ownership, an easy infrastructure for setting up a business and realizing the dream of self employment, the lure of a more casual lifestyle among a culture of practical and economical living.... Yes, a life with this kind of adventure and joy was too tempting not to embrace! In Katie's words, "there was never a question- we loved Golfito from the moment we pulled into port. It just took a few years to really see and believe that we could make choices to stay and that we could succeed! It's an incredibly bold thing to take a new and unconventional route in life, but not nearly as difficult as one might imagine. Yes, there were challenges along the way. But looking back on it, overcoming the obstacles often made the journey even more exciting and brought more satisfaction and rewards than could have ever been anticipated."
Sharing the fun, the experiences and the expertise gained over the past 20 is Katie's vocation - . and so obviously her pleasure! Katie and the team of competent people working along with her at Land Sea Services are very well equipped with the experience and ability to guide you into your adventures, assisting you all along the journey!
