This was a very cute apartment in Harlem with almost everything we needed for a family of 3. It is a 15 minute stop from Midtown on the A express train. The bed was comfy and it was nice to take a hot bath at the end of the day.
I did find Harlem to be not as hopping at night as I might have thought, but this in no way reflects on Sidney, his place, or his abilities to host, and in a 3 night stay, it is hard to get a sense of a neighborhood, so there may have been stuff under our noses we didn't know about.
Nice self-contained ground floor apartment. Comfortable bed with clean bathroom and kitchen area. Lounge could do with a makeover. Neighbourhood is quiet yet only 4 mins walk from A Train subway which is about 15 mins from a lot of downtown spots. Supermarkets also close by but restaurant choices in the immediate vicinity were poor. We stayed in mid-March when the weather was still quite cold. The apartment was kept warm but the heating system creaked and banged a lot when it was coming on/off. Good value for Manhattan.
We stayed at Sid's house for 5 days and the experience was totally perfect. The underground is very near and it was very simplu reach all NY. Sid and Lisa are very kind. The flat is confortable for 4 people and the kitchen is well equipped. Our journey was reallu perfect!. thanks...Giorgiana and Fabio and Chiara and Francesco
Very comfortable. The heat noise problem was solved by an electric heater. Everything we needed in the kitchen, easy access to the subway and stores nearby. Thanks Sidney.
A very nice flat, very well situated. You can reach the center in 15 minutes. There are nice restaurants very close to the flat. The next time we go to New York we will return to this place !
Sidney is very nice. His apartment is convenient and neat, It is easy to get everywhere in NY.
I stayed at Sid´s place with my wife for 6 days in february 2014. Sidney was a nice host! Everything was ok in our arrival, and was really kind when in the check out he agreed to keep our lugagge in his place for us to have a final day in NY.
The appartment is very well located! The neighborhood is full of restaurants and close to a 24h supermarket. Very close to the subway station!
We had a few problems in the appartment: there´s a tv, but is not working with any channels (and we were told before that there were regular channels at the place!!) , just works with dvd (that we did not used).
The drying machine was broken. Sid was kind and offered us to dry the clothes in his appartment, altough is not the same thing and we did not feell confortable (we did not wanted to botter...).
But the main problem was the heating system noise. Sid told us about it just when we arrived there, and was a really loud sound. Three times per night seemed that somebody was hammering an iron bar inside our room, with a huge noise during 15 minutes 2 feet close to our bed. IMPOSSIBLE to sleep during this time!! It starts usually at 1am and the last noise session was at early morning.
As soon as the host fix this problem, we will be more than ok to stay there again!
Sid's place is really great value: clean, convenient and a great host who even treats you with his own records. In addition, Sugar Hill is really an upcoming area. Get here before the crowd does!
Our stay at Sidney's was great. Although it is fairly far north, the apartment is very close to the subway. And though simply furnished, it is clean, well-kept, and private. Our only trouble was with the heaters at night, which made quite a loud noise and woke us up until they subsided. Sid did warn us upon arrival that they had been loud lately.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
