Great value for a stay in NYC, whether you're there for a weekend or much longer. Very close to the subway, well-kept and clean, stocked with almost anything you might need (cooking/eating supplies, soap and cleaning supplies, lots of towels and blankets, a washer and dryer...). Sidney is especially accommodating and happy to help you figure out transportation or give advice on best places to eat or shop. We found a few great coffee shops and restaurants just by wandering within a few blocks of the residence. Walked home from the subway after midnight several nights in a row with no issues. The only complaint I have, which doesn't reflect at all on Sidney or his home, is that on Saturday night we had people partying late and loud right outside our bedroom window. We ended up sleeping on the living room pullout and closing the bedroom door (which was also very comfortable and totally mitigated the noise), so no idea what time it finally died down. Our stay wasn't long enough to find out whether this is a regular occurrence in the neighborhood, but I wanted to mention it against some other reviews that say the neighborhood is quiet.

Sidney's was really good! Super close to the subway that will take you to all the major tourist sites and is super comfortable. 10/10 would recommend.

Sidney's place was as advertised - a good sized suite in a quiet location within spitting distance of the subway. As a traveling family, we enjoyed the big park just a block away (with outdoor pool!), plus a great cafe around the corner for morning bagels and tea. We also enjoyed being in a neighborhood where we got a flavor for how real people live in New York. The air conditioning was appreciated too! A big thanks to Sidney for waiting up after we arrived extremely late from our flight. Communication was easy and clear.

Our first AirBnb Experience has been absolutely joyful. The apartment was beautiful, spacious, private, in a WONDERFUL and friendly neighborhood, convenient to the city and both safe and homey. Our trio had plenty of space at home and the pictures don't do the place justice. It's much hipper even than it looks and felt much more like a long term rental complete with cookbooks, movies and a library. Lisa was super nice and I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the residents of Harlem were in helping us get around. Great restaurants nearby. We will be back.

El alojamiento esta muy bien ubicado cerca de la parada del metro, en una calle tranquila de Harlem. Sidney estuvo pendiente a nuestras preguntas y nos aconsejo donde ir a ver una verdadera misa gospel muy cerca del apartamento.

My goal is to provide a private, safe, clean, convenient, inexpensive, comfortable, well-appointed and well-designed property for the traveler or the local person in need of temporary furnished housing. I am available when needed but I do not intrude on my guests. In addition to being an AIRBNB host and property owner in both New York and Vermont, I am a real estate agent by professsion and have a passion for matching people with properties. I am a lifelong New York City resident and know the City well - ask me for tips. I speak enough French and Spanish to assist travelers in those languages if need be. English is my primary language. I am a culinary enthusiast. Also I am a guitarist and love many kinds of music. I have recently re-started my music career so if you're interested you can check out Sid Whelan Band on Bandcamp, , or Reverbnation. My band is inspired by roots American music form before 1960, primarily blues but also folk, country, tin pan alley, jazz, early rock'n'roll and Broadway.

I like to run and have joined New York Road Runners. I know some good routes in the area for runners.
