We had a great stay at Sidney's place! There were 4 of us and we all found the location convenient and the apartment was very nice. Sydney was really welcoming when I arrived and let me in as early as possible (as I had arrived at 8am and was quite tired from travel).
He also has all of the information that you might need for a good stay in NYC right in the apartment. He has subway maps up, lots of travel books and info on what is available in the neighborhood -- more than I have ever gotten from any hotel!
The neighborhood might not be as nice as some in Manhattan but we never felt unsafe at all. It seems like it is mostly Columbia students and families. It was super easy access to the subway. Basically, we could get anywhere in Manhattan in about 30 mins.
Definitely worth the price! I would stay here again if I were in NYC with a group.
It was a amazing trip. Sidney's place is very nice. Comfortable, clean, well located, calm and fresh. Recommend to everybody who's looking for a good place do stay. Sidney is a great host, answer everything we asked. Me and my family hope to comeback to NY and stay there again.
Sid has been a great host. He checked with us regularly to make sure we're comfortable and replied our questions promptly.
The unit and amenities are exactly as described. The unit is a block and a half away from the subway station and only a few stops away from midtown ("A" train is your best friend).
The neighbourhood was very alive and full of character (with many great cafes).
Sidney's place was exactly what I expected, a cozy one bedroom apartment, on the first floor of the building and very close to a subway station. Me and my dad stayed there for a week, with no inconveniences at all.
The apartment has everything anyone could need, except for a microwave, but we really didn't need it that much. Sidney was there on time to check us in and give us quick directions about everything. He even was attentive enough to leave us the coffee maker ready, and provide us with directions of the nearest super market and phone numbers of taxi services, which was very helpful.
Overall, we had a good time and left very pleased.

About the Host, Sidney
My goal is to provide a private, safe, clean, convenient, inexpensive, comfortable, well-appointed and well-designed property for the traveler or the local person in need of temporary furnished housing. I am available when needed but I do not intrude on my guests. In addition to being an AIRBNB host and property owner in both New York and Vermont, I am a real estate agent by professsion and have a passion for matching people with properties. I am a lifelong New York City resident and know the City well - ask me for tips. I speak enough French and Spanish to assist travelers in those languages if need be. English is my primary language. I am a culinary enthusiast. Also I am a guitarist and love many kinds of music. I have recently re-started my music career so if you're interested you can check out Sid Whelan Band on Bandcamp, Twitter, Facebook or Reverbnation. My band is inspired by roots American music form before 1960, primarily blues but also folk, country, tin pan alley, jazz, early rock'n'roll and Broadway.
