This nice room with private bath is for one woman (sorry guys, we just aren't set up for you). The room is very cozy, is carpeted, and is on the top (third) floor with views of the treetops and the spires of local churches. There is a single bed and a private tiled bath with shower. This is a nonsmoking house.
We are located in the historic Germantown neighborhood of northwest Philadelphia PA. The neighborhood offers nearby access to historic features and parks. While Germantown is an urban neighborhood, we are just 10 blocks from the glorious and wild Wissahickon Valley. Yet medical student visitors have found it convenient to local hospitals and convention goers have found Center City a reasonable distance -- very close by SEPTA regional rail.
Amenities include free wifi, free street parking, and we are close to public transit for easy access to attractions in center city, old city and university city.
We have no pets. If you have any questions, please contact me, I would love to tell you about the space and our community.
For breakfast, we can accommodate dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free etc) and many different coffee / tea and breakfast preferences.
I also speak reasonably good Spanish.
Our guest also has access to the kitchen, laundry, living room and lovely back yard in nice weather.
Interaction with Guests
We like to interact with guests, and have made some life long friends through Airbnb, but we certainly don't demand that guests interact! Let us know your preferences.
Most guests do not have time to visit the neighborhood much. If they did, there are plenty of tourist and recreational sites. Outisde of Center City, Germantown has more history than any other part of Philadelphia. Sites date from 1690 and include Revolutionary War and Civil War sites. There are lots of restaurants near by. Though Germantown is not exactly a gourmet retail / dining destination, there are couple of good places within walking distance (including two vegan/vegetarian places). And restaurant havens of Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill and Manayunk are 10-15 minutes away.
The Germantown neighborhood is very accessible to public transit, see (URL HIDDEN) for details. Two regional rail lines serve us (R7 and R8) as well as 5 bus routes (23, H, K, 26 and 65).
The closest bus stop is 1/2 block away, and the closest train stop is 8 blocks. Center City is 20 minutes by train, 30 minutes by car, and up to 45 minutes on the bus.
When we are available, we are happy to transport guests to/from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), or Amtrak (30th Street Station) for a small fee.
An Enterprise Car Rental store is within a 6 block walk of our house, and taxi service is available with a call.
Other Things to Note
The people who have found our spot convenient are those visiting Einstein hospital or these universities: LaSalle University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Drexel University Medical School, Philadelphia University and Temple University.
No smoking. Check out time by 11 am, check in time 4 pm. We are amenable to working out other arrangements, given enough notice. If you want breakfast, we would like to be able to serve you by 10 am.
I love to travel, and have travelled a lot, but rarely these days. Airbnb is an affordable alternative to what I consider to be impersonal, cold and airless hotels and motels, and the normal run of B and B's which can be too expensive. I like people, and would be a great guest: thoughtful, quiet, clean.
These same qualities make me a great host, too. Additionally, I have travelled a lot (and lived) in Latin America, and retain the ability to speak a bit of Spanish.
