Something that when I started was just to share the pictures of my house in the internet, is getting serious and enjoyable. Until today 40 countries have sent their representatives to stay here!!
As there are some expatriates who also wants to stay here, I only have 2-3 rooms available for the temporary guests. You and these expats make the house become so global. A place to share and to learn.
As I notice guests often need this so I provide:
1) Collaborating with a very good driver, Gito, a car is available for you! From the airport the cost will be Rp 200,000,- including everything. I recommend this car especially for guests who arrive late after 8 PM.
2) Please let me know if you need train tickets to Bandung or Yogya.
This listing refers to the room with a private bathroom and next to the pool
You can use my spacious guest room, living room and wood balcony for your activities. A multi channel TV is available in the living room. A nice kitchen and its utensils are available for you to use ( fridge, stove, micro-wave, etc). Water, coffee and tea are 24 hours. Feel free to serve yourself.
You can swim in our exotic tropical swimming pool at any time. Please enjoy our garden while you are reading under the sun..... guarantee you will get tanned soon. Two sundecks are available.
My house is located in Cempaka Putih, one of of a few peaceful and prestigious residential areas in the center of Jakarta (you can jog here safely). It is approximately 5 kms to the following: National Monument, Grand Indonesia, Mall of Indonesia, Kelapa Gading. Arround 7-10 kms JCC, Semanggi and Blok M.
From the airport, easily reached by several DAMRI buses: Rawamangun, stop when the bus exiting the toll road at Rawasari, Kemayoran, stop at destination, Gambir station at destination. From here, the easiest way is to take a taxi starting from Rp 10,000,- (Rawasari) to 20,000 (Gambir). From my house you can go to other parts of Jakarta using taxi, Jakarta buses (transJakarta), and other means (ojek), and a combination of bus and train. The trans Jakarta bus shelter is only 5 min walking.
Other facilities? all five minutes walking: gym (however simple things like push up, etc of course you can do it at home, hospital, groceries, restaurants and trade center (Cempaka Mas ITC) where you can find all you need in discounted prices.
In brief, experience yourself..... welcome!
The reservation was canceled 17 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Beautiful house Roy, the caretaker was very friendly. Showed us the way on his motorcycle to the famous duck restaurant Bebek Kaleyo, which is about 10 minutes walk away. You can also find street food and convenient stores about 5 minutes walk away near the YARSI hospital. Kitchen is fully-equiped with stove, fridge, microwave. Pool is lovely to be in after a hot day out in Jakarta.
Second stay at Herman's place for a week this time round and like before, my stay was a pleasant one. Managed to figure my way around the neighborhood and glad to say that I've finally memorized the directions. Pak Jefri and Herman's helper were also very approachable and friendly. All in all, it does not disappoints and I'll definitely be back again soon! :)
Such a beautiful house. I enjoyed staying there. I'm sorry to have missed Herman as he was out of town but I was well taken care of. I really like Indonesia and will be back. I hope I can stay here again. The house is a few blocks from the bus line that takes you directly to the center.
We stayed at Herman's place for one night and it was absolutely lovely. The house is beautiful, the rooms are large, the garden is a little oasis in this huge city. Unfortunately we hadn't the chance to meet Herman but he is very nice: He organised our train tickets unf ordered a taxi for us in the morning. We are very grateful for this. If we come back to Jakarta, we will definetely stay at Herman's place.
Wonderful place! Just like in the pictures. Very open, spacious and private. Herman did an excellent job arranging everything we needed (to know). A note and a map were waiting for us with the traintickets we requested.
The house itself was an inspiring place for us and we were happy to meet the architect, Jeffrey, who showed us around in Jakarta. Due to our planning and some delay, we could only enjoy the house, the room and the facilities for 2 short nights, so we definitely have to come back again!
About the place!
1. Its in a super quiet place, a lovely Residential area among all the traffic Jakarta generates.
2. Well Maintained, Very pretty house, Clean in every Aspect.
3. Comfortable Beds
4. Clean Towels and Linens
5. Running Hotwater at all times
6. Excellent Pool Area around a Garden with hummingbirds buzzing by
7. Coffee Maker, Cold drinking water, Kitchen Access
8. Walking distance from RS Islam Bus Station
More than all these, Herman is Mr.Dependable! When we got stuck with cancelled flights to Bali and no where to go in a new nation with no knowledge of the local land, Herman welcomed us back, gave us all the comfort to settle down, explore the city better in the way comfortable to us, which included details to such an extent that he even mentioned average cost of a night club, location, approximate taxi cost and the best to do there!
He told us to do 1000 Islands the next day and again guided us on what to expect there and where to head to to get the best!
The house is like a place you get to meet people. A lot of people, fellow residents were so helpful and friendly to us, sharing stuff over a coffee and chilling out in a couch!
In simple, I just felt like meeting a longtime friend after a long time and staying at his house!
I will definitely stay back with Herman!
Herman's "tropical house" is wonderful, a nice haven in a busy city. The pool is simply amazing - and you can walk straight into it from your shower! The long-term renters that are there are also very friendly, inviting me to a party they had the first night I was staying. Supermarket and restaurants are within safe walking distance, and it's a nice neighborhood to go for a walk. Herman is very helpful, and helped me plan a great day in Jakarta, telling me which buses to take etc. So whenever you visit Jakarta, definitely stay here!
When I saw my room in Herman's house I couldn't believe my luck! I knew from the pictures it was going to be nice, but in real life the house is even nicer, and it leaves you with absolutely nothing else to wish for.
My room had fresh towels, a comfy clean bed with duvet, and a door to the swimming pool from the shower! Herman's house is an island of tranquility in the hustle and bustle of Jakarta.
Herman is very a nice and interesting person, and he was kind enough to set me up with lots of helpful advices.
We've stayed at Herman's for just 1 night because of our late night departure to Dubai the next day. Herman was very kind, helpful and speaks very good english. He even prepared us a map with the local (walking distance) highlights such as restaurants, busstops and shops. On his advice we took the public transport to Kota (old Batavia), which was really cheap and only 1 transfer. The house is very nice; it's clean, great design (walk-in-swimmingpool straight out of our bathroom) with all the desired features for a relaxed stay. The location is also very good, near the ring road, busstops and easy to reach by foot from other main roads.
A special thanks to Herman for letting us take a refreshing shower at the end of our stay in Jakarta (while having "checked out" in the morning), so we could start our homeward return relaxed and in a fresh set of clothes.
We highly recommend Herman's place and his service and would love to return again for a longer stay.
