f you're coming to Austin without a car, there are several good options for getting around town. I'm unable to post phone numbers or website addresses, but Mellow Johnny's bike shop downtown has commuter bike rentals at reasonable rates. The number 10 bus also stops 2 blocks from my house. Its a $1 ride downtown that takes about 12 minutes to go 2.7 miles with plenty of interesting stops along the way. You can buy daily passes for $2. Weekly passes are also available.

I loved staying at the Comfy House! I highly recommend it. Laurie is an incredibly kind, generous and friendly host. She is so helpful and accommodating. She also shared a lot of great advice on Austin and places to check out. Another bonus is she has the sweetest dog named Timber! The house itself is adorable, spacious, clean, and comfortable. It's also in a fantastic location - close to downtown and so many amenities. If you need a place to crash, this is it!
My coworker and I had an absolutely fantastic stay in Laurie's house! We were there for for 6 nights and had a hard time leaving— it felt like home!
* Classic South Austin house with a great front porch where we ate many of our meals (note: Torchy's Tacos, the best in Austin, is one block away!)
* Laurie has her house in beautiful condition and tastefully decorated. So pleasant!
* Comfy bedrooms, and in a quiet neighborhood so we had nice, restful nights.
* Piping hot shower with great water pressure.
* Nice kitchen with a coffee maker.
* Reliable wifi, and a nice audio system that was great for music listening every morning during breakfast.
* Short walk to bus Route 10. Super convenient for getting downtown daily, which we did for SXSW Interactive. (Austin's bus service is fantastic. $2/day unlimited rides, and also a nice mobile app for routes and e-tickets.)
* Besides Torchy's, close to lots of other great shops and restaurants within walking distance. (we didn't rent a car and never regretted it)
We met Laurie briefly before she took her own trip during our stay, but she's such a nice person and a wonderful, generous host. If I ever get back to Austin, Laurie's house will be at the top of my list for places to try to stay!
We couldn't have asked for a better host, location, and accommodations! It has been our best airbnb experience to date. I looked at a lot of different places in Austin before booking with Laurie and still couldn't believe how great it was when we got there. Laurie is a fantastic host with a lovely home. Our room was very comfortable with lots of space to unpack and hang clothes. I felt very welcome to make use of the kitchen and living room as well and appreciated the coffee, tea, fruit, yogurt, and granola provided for breakfasts. Also enjoyed the close proximity to Torchy's!! Couldn't have asked for a better stay and would definitely stay with Laurie (and Timber) again!
I Thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Laurie. She is a very gracious ad friendly host who knows the city of Austin and is willing to share her knowledge. I highly recommend Her comfy home.
Laurie was a great host - friendly and incredibly helpful. Timber was also a great housemate! Laurie's place was fantastic. It was clean, spacious, and in a great neighborhood. It is one block away from Torchy's Tacos, which provided me with sustenance in the form of fried avocado tacos. I did not have a car and was easily able to access Austin's other neighborhoods, either through the bus system or the bike provided by Laurie. I would definitely stay again the next time I visit Austin!
All the reviews are true - Laurie is such a sweet, helpful host who made me feel completely at home. I loved staying in her cute relaxed home with her and Timber (gorgeous dog!) - it's clean, well cared for and the room is comfy, cosy and perfectly suited my needs. It's just a 5 minute walk from buses straight into downtown and there's an awesome taco place on the corner, and a large grocery store also in walking distance. Highly recommended!
I stayed at Laurie's two successive weeks. Great stays for both. The house is clean, comfortable and makes for an enjoyable stay. The location is terrific, right around the corner from Torchy's Tacos on South First. Laurie is a terrific host, very friendly and a pleasant conversationalist.
Highly Recommend Comy House, South Austin.
The highlight and focus of my entire stay I would have to say was my host Laurie. She was fantastic! Super accommodating, flexible and really enjoyed her local knowledge and help getting around the city. Location was perfect and because it was SXSW cabs were a rare site so I used the bus system which couldn't have been easier. Just a $1 and 10 min ride to 6th street, couldn't beat it.
The house was very clean and spacious with great places to take in the outdoors. Will absolutely be staying here again on my next trip into town.
The reservation was canceled 40 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Laurie is a great host, great personality and conversational. The house and room are very clean. Great dog in Timber. Highly recommend this stay. I will be back.
