Interaction with Guests
Either myself or my staff will have some level of interaction with guests.
South Melbourne is one of the most charming inner city areas of Melbourne, full of boutique shops and restaurants. Supermarket is 5 minutes away. If you walk any direction for 2 minutes, you will reach a tram stop that will take you to almost anywhere in inner Melbourne. Albert Park is right across the road, while Royal Botanic Gardens and Eureka Tower are both closeby. Also nearby are Melbourne Cricket Ground and Etihad Stadium.
Very good tram connection takes you to the city and beach within 10 minutes.
Smoking is only allowed outside.
As the guesthouse does not employ a full time cleaner, guests are required to clean up the kitchen after use.
A 200+ dvd collection is provided for guest use and guests are required to return the dvd back to the shelf after use.
our stay was acceptable. showering facilities were clean and the room that we were given was good for 4 people (1 queen size bed and a double deck). the pictures shown were nicer than the rooms were irl. beds were comfortable. location was alright, but not the best, thankfully we rented cars to drive around in. this accommodation will be good for budget travelers without high expectations of their accommodation.
If the property is Entire Home, why did we not have access to all bedrooms? Very deceptive. We had 11 people in our booking, with only 2 couples. We were provided with only 5 double beds & a set of bunks. When we booked, it is listed as ENTIRE HOME with 6 bedrooms & 9 beds. Would NOT stay here again, as Dina had booked the other room for 1 of our nights. Once again ENTIRE HOME should mean that.
Other problems as listed:
Mould in showers/basins in ALL Bathrooms & lack of soap dish in showers. Shower heads need to be looked at , as they are quite loose, & water goes everywhere.
ALL Beds need their fixtures tightening, as they all squeak with the slightest movement, and mattresses are very lumpy & quite thin.
Rm 2 - Architrave had been wet & was swollen (not new), Exh. Fan very noisy, possibly a bearing.
Rm 3 - No spare T/Paper.
Rm 4 - Bathroom window was rotten, shower leaked & ran down wall into P/Point. Shower door wouldn't close properly. Housekeeping staff had put a blood smeared pillowcase on pillow & turned it over so it wouldn't be noticed. Towels smelled a bit off.
Rm 5 - Bunk beds for adults? Are you serious?
Common Room - No Tea/Coffee for guests (caretakers said it was theirs). No coffee machine as shown in pictures. No TV in here either. Vacuum cleaner was next to TV cabinet, & hadn't been emptied in quite a while. Caretakers seemed to resent us being in common room.
The stairs need to be carpeted to cut down on noise. There are signs everywhere telling you to be respectful of other guests, but as soon as you set foot on the stairs, that goes out the window.
The Front door is DEADLOCKED at ALL times. There is no easy escape in case of fire, as this is the only entry/exit. The Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade will be notified of this situation.
This was a great location. Very central. There is an amazing living in housekeeper. The host was very accomodating. However this is more backpacker than stated. We were a group of five the got given two bedroom and four bed note we were siblings. Most in our thirties. One pregnant and we got bunk beds. You didn't show those on the photo. Host was very accomodating in allowing us to have another room. all in all it wasn't quite what we were expecting but it did the job.
Great neighbourhood, Great place to stay. The host was easy to communicate with and went out of her way to make sure we had enough beds after we added another person to the booking late notice! Thanks for a great stay.
Comfortable accommodation, nice and quiet area. Communal entertainment area was cosy - and facilities clean. Will definitely recommend the guesthouse to travellers on a budget.
We booked all 6 rooms for 3 nights.......
*Great location. 30 mins walk to Federation Square/CBD. Close to cafes and shops on Clarendon Street and the South Melbourne Markets.
*Good if you have plenty of guests who want to stay together as there were 5/6 rooms available.
*Rooms and bathrooms were clean and the housekeeper (Nicholas) was friendly and quick to assist (spare key, extra towels)
*Ineffective communication by Dina. I booked the accommodation 5 months earlier with the number of guests and rooms approved by Dina. Six days before our arrival, I emailed Dina to touch base with her. The following day, she emailed back saying we had too many people and were losing 1 room. An additional nearby (1.6kms away!!!) apartment was offered (which would split our group). After I called her, we managed to resolve the issue.
*As we were arriving at 7am, Dina indicated a drop key and room would be available for us to drop our bags. The code to get the key was invalid. There was no response after smsing Dina. We were able to leave our bags in the living room when a guest let us in. Again, no communication or follow-up from Dina.
*Accommodation could use a refurb as others have said. A few things also needed fixing (eg. broken bathroom door) or didn't work (eg. toaster oven)
*Staircase area needs to be cleaned/fixed/better lit.
Apart from certain annoyances listed above, we had a pleasant stay due to the pros and being able to stay together as a large extended family group.

I am a melbourne girl with a finance professional background. Due to passion for travelling, meeting new people and property, i have, over the last few years, managed to combine my hobbies into owning a guesthouse and a number of apartments in and near the Melbourne city. I hope I can cater all types of groups with the range of accommodation options I offer. I also love the opportunity to show all my guests what a wonderful city Melbourne is. As an airbnb guest, I will look after your place like its my own.
