Interaction with Guests
We always like to greet our guests and give them the ins and outs of their space. If for some reason we can't be home the door is unlocked and you can make yourself at home until we get back. We love to have conversation and get to know our guests. We also respect peoples privacy and have no problem with that. We are very easy going and want your experience to be exactly what you came to Lake Placid for.
Our neighborhood is very safe and quiet. It is residential with lots of space and trees between homes. Many guests comment on the fact that they were surprised at how quiet it was.
We are 2 miles outside of the Olympic Village. To get around the area it is best to have a vehicle, but we have had guests who did not have one. Cabs are available and several places in town rent bicycles. Their is a bus that comes to the area and a train that comes to Westport. If you use the train, a shuttle will bring you to town.
If you use the kitchen to cook we request that you leave it clean.
Check in and checkout are flexible depending on the arrival or departure of other guests.
Our stay at Charles & Leslie was perfect, exactly as we imagined. House was beautifully furnished, super clean, warm & cozy. Bed extra comfy. We also liked the convenience of cooking own breakfast, and light dinner cooking. Charles was charming & very helpful host. We will definitely be back for another ski weekend : )
Charles, your bed was the best we slept in. A wonderful trip, a great welcome and really interesting to chat with you. We loved lake placid but disappointed that you couldn't supply perfect weather. Would recommend your place to friends. Mel and David
Even though we were five hours away from New York City, Charles and Leslie made us feel at home in their home. Charles was extremely helpful with planning our daily activities. His suggestion for dinner at Liquids and Solids was perhaps the second best meal I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating!
The house was clean, well kept, and had a nice country feel to it. Charles allowed us to use the kitchen to cook, though we didn't make anything. I would definitely consider staying with Charles and Leslie during future visits to Lake Placid and would recommend their home to anyone looking to feel cozy and welcome during their time upstate.
Leslie and Charles hosted us for two nights in Lake Placid and it really was a nice experience. Out room was big and comfortable, Charles was always available to help us plan our stay in the area, with good restaurant and hiking trails suggestions. I would recommend their lovely house to anybody and will definitely go back as soon as I can!
We had the most wonderful time in Lake Placid. We had made a very last minute booking but Charles greeted us very kindly when we arrived (quite late at night). Charles was so gracious, kind and accommodating and gave us a very comprehensive overview of Lake Placid and the best places to go to see the fall and to eat. The house was super comfortable and very stylish. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Leslie during our stay bit regardless, we highly recommend both as hosts!
Absolutely great visit! Leslie and Charles made me feel comfortable immediately. They were very knowledgeable about the local restaurants and bent over backwards to help me get around. I wish that I'd had more time to chat with them, but the swim clinic kept us hopping!
Nice, quiet neighborhood close to everything - downtown, the Olympic Training facilities, etc. This is the place to be if you're visiting Lake Placid.
Both Leslie Charles were very welcoming from the moment we arrived. Very quick to respond to the request, flexible with arrival time and shared with us everything we needed to know about the neighbourhood and even directions to use the coffee maker for morning plus directions to buy breakfast after our delicious coffee.

I am an avid gardener, both flowers and organic vegetables. I grow most of my vegetables at the Community Garden and some at home. I love to cook and enjoy the flavors of my home grown veggies. I am an emerging artist in print making, studying and practicing at the local BluSeed art Workshop, North Country Community College and Mesa Art Center in Arizona. I have a creative soul and have enjoyed creating the dorm/loft living space. My husband, Charles, is a part time college professor and published writer. Sometimes you can catch him performing his poetry at one of the local venues. We love foraging in the woods for eatable wild mushrooms. Our new avocation is being host of our airbnb guests and sharing our love and knowledge in this beautiful part of the world.
