And the longer description... :)
We are offering our beautiful guest apartment for your vacation home! This is a private one bedroom guest apartment and you don't have to share it with anyone else.
THE APARTMENT AND OUR HOUSE:
Our house is a three story house and it's a mixture of modern an old. The house itself is an old brownstone but it's newly renovated with new modern kitchens, bathrooms, wooden floors and appliances (fridge, microwave, stove etc.)
This guest apartment is located at the second floor of our three story house.
The apartment has one bedroom with two windows and an en suite (inside the bedroom) bathroom. The bedroom has one queen sized bed that can sleep two people. There is also full sized new kitchen and a spacious living room with high ceilings. In the living room there is a full sized (slightly smaller than queen size) futon sofa bed that can sleep up to two people.
The kitchen has basic plates, cups, pots & pans and basic cooking utensils for those who like to cook.
We can give you a free password to our WiFi internet (if you have your own lap top, tablet)
THE LOCATION AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
The house is located 5-6 minutes walk to the blue line C train Kingston/Throop Avenue Subway station. It takes you to Brooklyn Downtown in 6-10 minutes, Lower Manhattan in about 15 min and Midtown Manhattan (Times Square) 25-30 min. (You can look at the Subway map by putting a search online "MTA Subway Map")
Our house is at the border of ethnically diverse Crown Heights and Bedford Styvesant neighborhoods. This is very typical Brooklyn Middle-Class Neighborhood.
Commercial Fulton Street that has some food places (mostly take out, e.g. Subway sandwiches, Caribbean food places, Mc Donald's) is less than 5 minutes walk away from the house.
There is an Apple Bee's neighborhood bar & grill about 12-15 minute walk from the house.
There is a big Supermarket about 10-12min. walk from our house.
The Bus B15 that goes to JFK Airport stops right outside our house.
Also, if you are sensitive to noise please consider that we are located one block away from the Long Island Railroad train elevated tracks. ( I don't like loud noise and I haven't find it bothering but if you do we'd be happy to give you ear plugs to make your stay more comfortable! :)
We have a very strict non-smoking policy and we would prefer guests who do not smoke not to have any problems with this.
Smoking outside of the house is fine but please note that smoking inside the apartment or in our hallway will result in non refunding the $200 security deposit. So please don't! :)
CHECK IN/OUT TIMES:
Our check in time is after 3pm and check out before 11am. .
We have cats but they stay downstairs and don’t come to the guest apartment. :)
And if you stay with us, we would greatly appreciate your review about your stay! Your opinion is very important to us!
Please send us any questions that you might have, we would be happy to help!
Thank you and have a wonderful day! :)
No smoking inside the apartments or in our hallway or from the apartment windows (This is very important)
(Please note that smoking anywhere inside the apartment or our house would result in non-refunding the $250 security deposit, so please don't! :) )
Please close the windows when using the Air Conditioners and turn off the Air Conditioners when leaving the apartment.
Booked guests only, sorry no visitors

Thank you very much!! :)
We spent a really great time in New York and in Jenny's wonderful apartment. It's cosy, spacious, well-furnitured and well-provided with everything. There is a wonderful backyard, full of roses and plants – a great view from the bedroom. We felt like being at home and enjoyed it coming home after a long day in Manhattan or Brooklyn. The subway station and a supermarket was nearby (10-15 minutes to go).
We have not met Jenny until the last days. Before we communicate with her easily by email. In fact we didn't need her support in anything because everything was best-prepared. It was easy to take the flat when we arrived. You will find a manual with handy hints and good bets. Although we met Jenny only briefly we can confirm that she is a extremely nice and very pleasant person. As other guests mentioned before: she is a perfect host.
The area – Bedford-Stuyvesant – doesn't belong to the over-gentrified areas of Brooklyn (like Prospect Park West or Brooklyn Heights), it's better to know that! But we felt safe at any time. You have the chance to share a bit of real New Yorker life (beyond tourist-ways). We liked it! Like everywhere in New York it's noisy, especially because of the A-train beside the house. It could be find annoying by persons who are sensitive to noise. I slept with ear-plugs and everything was fine!
The subway-ride to Manhattan is about 20 minutes (downtown) and 40 minutes (midtown), Brooklyn downtown (15 minutes). In the evening (after 9 p.m.) we occasionally had to wait very long for a C-subway (one evening for 60 minutes!) back home. But maybe we had bad luck. That is the only interfering point I could mention. We recommend the flat and their hosts (Sorry, I only speak about Jenny but Jose is very pleasant too!) truly, madly, deeply!
We had a wonderful experience staying with Jenny and Jose! Jenny was a great help in answering my questions before our arrival, and Jose was there on the first day to show us around the apartment and make us feel welcome.
The apartment itself is gorgeous, homely and spacious. There is a TV, excellent Wi-Fi and cooking utensils, if you so wish. It also has nice touches like a giant map of New York City on the door, which was helpful for tracking our journey every day.
The apartment is also located very close to a deli, which was perfect for grabbing a quick coffee/bagel in the mornings before setting off for the day.
I can't emphasise enough how handy this location is. While there isn't a lot of places to eat/drink close by, it's less than a five minute walk to the closest Subway station and you're only a 20 minute train ride from Manhattan or parts of Brooklyn. Even getting taxis home from the city never cost more than $20, which is great if you plan on enjoying the nightlife in NYC.
Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely consider staying again. Can't recommend enough!
Jenny is the kindest host I ever had. She is always available to help or give information and pays a big attention on the comfort of her travelers. The apartment is spacious and clean, in compliance with the description. I stayed there one week with my parents. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen. The supermarket is 10min walk. The closest subway station is in 5min walk and the line which passes there serves Manhattan from north to south.
Perfect for people who cannot afford to rent an apartment in Manhattan.
Everything is perfect!Jenny and Jose are very friendly, their house is my home in NYC!next time we come back wish I can stay here again!
Pros: lovely hosts, warm and comfortable flat. Enough space for a couple, easily two children on the sofa bed. Equipment for cooking.
Cons: trains outside, area no good for quaint bars or restaurants.
We had a wonderful stay. New York was spectacular in the snow but having a warm and comfortable base to come back to was just as important for us.
Jenny and Jose were kind, welcoming and accommodating. They are grand hosts, present if needed but never obtrusive. They helped us with directions and local amenities, travel and advice. It was a pleasure to stay knowing that they were close by to help if needed.
The flat is warm and comfortable, and a little more spacious than the pictures make out. There is an over-ground train line close to the house, which can be heard throughout the day and night, but we feel this would only be a problem for light sleepers. We had no issues with this noise, although the radiators can be a bit clunky and clicky. The drawers are stocked with enough utensils, pans, crockery and cutlery to prepare meals. The bedroom was warm, and could be closed off from the lounge/kitchen area; the only downside was that the bed was a little uneven.
Travel towards Manhattan is easy - the subway is a five minute walk - and takes around half an hour to get to Lower Manhattan; longer if you need to travel further uptown. We didn't try any bars or restaurants in the area; if this is what you're looking for, this isn't really the area, but we ate in Manhattan, Williamsburg or cooked for ourselves. We were never made to feel uncomfortable or had any problems when walking at night.
We'd like to thank Jenny and Jose for our stay. We'd recommend this flat to couples or trios who don't mind a little bit of travel into the centre, with the knowledge that they have a comfortable flat to return to after a day in NYC.
