And the longer description... :)
We are offering our beautiful guest apartment for your vacation home! This is a private one bedroom guest apartment and you don't have to share it with anyone else.
THE APARTMENT AND OUR HOUSE:
Our house is a three story house and it's a mixture of modern an old. The house itself is an old brownstone but it's newly renovated with new modern kitchens, bathrooms, wooden floors and appliances (fridge, microwave, stove etc.)
This guest apartment is located at the second floor of our three story house.
The apartment has one bedroom with two windows and an en suite (inside the bedroom) bathroom. The bedroom has one queen sized bed that can sleep two people. There is also full sized new kitchen and a spacious living room with high ceilings. In the living room there is a full sized (slightly smaller than queen size) futon sofa bed that can sleep up to two people.
The kitchen has basic plates, cups, pots & pans and basic cooking utensils for those who like to cook.
We can give you a free password to our WiFi internet (if you have your own lap top, tablet)
THE LOCATION AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
The house is located 5-6 minutes walk to the blue line C train Kingston/Throop Avenue Subway station. It takes you to Brooklyn Downtown in 6-10 minutes, Lower Manhattan in about 15 min and Midtown Manhattan (Times Square) 25-30 min. (You can look at the Subway map by putting a search online "MTA Subway Map")
Our house is at the border of ethnically diverse Crown Heights and Bedford Styvesant neighborhoods. This is very typical Brooklyn Middle-Class Neighborhood.
Commercial Fulton Street that has some food places (mostly take out, e.g. Subway sandwiches, Caribbean food places, Mc Donald's) is less than 5 minutes walk away from the house.
There is an Apple Bee's neighborhood bar & grill about 12-15 minute walk from the house.
There is a big Supermarket about 10-12min. walk from our house.
The Bus B15 that goes to JFK Airport stops right outside our house.
Also, if you are sensitive to noise please consider that we are located one block away from the Long Island Railroad train elevated tracks. ( I don't like loud noise and I haven't find it bothering but if you do we'd be happy to give you ear plugs to make your stay more comfortable! :)
We have a very strict non-smoking policy and we would prefer guests who do not smoke not to have any problems with this.
Smoking outside of the house is fine but please note that smoking inside the apartment or in our hallway will result in non refunding the $200 security deposit. So please don't! :)
CHECK IN/OUT TIMES:
Our check in time is after 3pm and check out before 11am. .
We have cats but they stay downstairs and don’t come to the guest apartment. :)
And if you stay with us, we would greatly appreciate your review about your stay! Your opinion is very important to us!
Please send us any questions that you might have, we would be happy to help!
Thank you and have a wonderful day! :)
No smoking inside the apartments or in our hallway or from the apartment windows (This is very important)
(Please note that smoking anywhere inside the apartment or our house would result in non-refunding the $250 security deposit, so please don't! :) )
Please close the windows when using the Air Conditioners and turn off the Air Conditioners when leaving the apartment.
Booked guests only, sorry no visitors
Please place your recycling trash (glass and plastic bottles, and juice jugs and paper) into recycling pins in the kitchen
Please remove shoes when inside the apartment
Sorry, no pets!
Thank you very much!! :)
Pros: lovely hosts, warm and comfortable flat. Enough space for a couple, easily two children on the sofa bed. Equipment for cooking.
Cons: trains outside, area no good for quaint bars or restaurants.
We had a wonderful stay. New York was spectacular in the snow but having a warm and comfortable base to come back to was just as important for us.
Jenny and Jose were kind, welcoming and accommodating. They are grand hosts, present if needed but never obtrusive. They helped us with directions and local amenities, travel and advice. It was a pleasure to stay knowing that they were close by to help if needed.
The flat is warm and comfortable, and a little more spacious than the pictures make out. There is an over-ground train line close to the house, which can be heard throughout the day and night, but we feel this would only be a problem for light sleepers. We had no issues with this noise, although the radiators can be a bit clunky and clicky. The drawers are stocked with enough utensils, pans, crockery and cutlery to prepare meals. The bedroom was warm, and could be closed off from the lounge/kitchen area; the only downside was that the bed was a little uneven.
Travel towards Manhattan is easy - the subway is a five minute walk - and takes around half an hour to get to Lower Manhattan; longer if you need to travel further uptown. We didn't try any bars or restaurants in the area; if this is what you're looking for, this isn't really the area, but we ate in Manhattan, Williamsburg or cooked for ourselves. We were never made to feel uncomfortable or had any problems when walking at night.
We'd like to thank Jenny and Jose for our stay. We'd recommend this flat to couples or trios who don't mind a little bit of travel into the centre, with the knowledge that they have a comfortable flat to return to after a day in NYC.
It was such a pleasure to stay in that place during our trip to New York. The apartment is very comfortable and nice, good located.
Jenny and Jose are very nice hosts and they really took care of everything.
I was together with my daughter in New York for a week, and we stayed in Jenny and Jose's house the whole week. It was very nice to stay in Brooklyn - a little bit away from the rush in Manhatten. We felt very much like comming home every day from our trips in New York. And we felt safe in the neighbourhood.
Jenny and Jose's house is comfortable and clean, and everything works very well. The nearby train is no problem.
Before we came to New York Jenny guided us, so we had no problems getting tickets from JFK and finding the house.
Jenny and Jose are very friendly and helpful and the stay in their house is definately one of the reasons why we had such a succesfull stay in NY.
I will absolutely recommend others to stay with Jenny and Jose.
Regards from Denmark - Emilie
I stayed at Jenny and Jose's place for 2 nights of 11 for my honeymoon
The house is a little small but clean, it had leaks but that was no problem for us.
The neighborhood is horrible, you can hear the train passing by all day, we even had a very ugly situation with some guys insulting me and my wife and telling some unpublishable things. It is very dark outside to walk at night.
Jenny and Jose were very nice until I had the problem I'm mentioning. My wife did not want to get back to the house so I had to find a hotel. I asked Jenny for a refund and told here that I'll be ok if penalties apply, but really needed her help because Hotels cost money and I've already had paid her in full, told her to please understand the situation, it was my honeymoon and at the beginning she said ok but then I guess she didn't care.
I even took the keys of the house with me because when we left there was nobody home. I told Jenny and Jose the name of the hotel and the address where I was staying, so they can pick up the keys and talk about the refund but they never showed up.
I will really recommend to look for other neighborhood, there are very nice places in Brooklyn and when you start walking around you can very easily see the difference.
Hosting Mario was a stressful and bad experience for us. We have never had problems like this with any of our other guests before. Mario told us everything was fine with the apartment but then he got upset because some man had said something to his girlfriend outside on the streets. He left without any notice and took the keys to our house with him (I was at home during the time). He then refused to give back the keys unless we would go to meet him somewhere in Brooklyn to discuss a refund. We never received our keys back from him and ended up having to change the locks to our house.
We had an excellent time during the week we stayed in Brooklyn. We stayed there with a five years son and an eleven years daughter. We highly recommend the apartment, the neighbourhood and of course our hosts, Jebny & Jose. Thank you very much!!!!
Although we never met Jenny & Jose in person they were outstanding hosts. We stayed for one week and the overall experience can be really considered as wonderful. Prior to our arrival Jenny answered all our questions in detail to make the arrival safe and sound.
The apartment itself is really nicely furnished and the kitchen is equipped as a cook would expect it - this can actually safe you lots of money if you catch the chance of having breakfast and dinner there. We were a lot on the go and it felt always like coming home. You can watch TV while having breakfast to catch the weather forecast or have a movie night home, you will find your way to relax in this quiet and restful home.
The C (or during night times A) train takes you to the heart of Manhattan in 25 mins (20 to Downtown and 30 to Midtown). Even though this might sound like a long journey to you it doesn't really feel so since you do not have to change trains. This makes it super convenient to get around.
I guess you will be probably on vacation as we were, so take this chance on not living in tourist crammed Manhattan but in an area where real New Yorkers live - otherwise you will miss something. For instance make a walk from there to Williamsburg and you will see a nice portion of Brooklyn with its lovely Townhouses. The neighborhood got gentrified, so no worries, you will feel safe there.
All the best from Germany!
We stayed with Jenny and Jose for a whole week.
We were warmly received by Jenny, even though we arrived much later than we had said.
The apartment was good, spacious and everything we needed was there.
It 's about 5-10 minutes walking to the subway, which takes you straight into the city.
It's a colored neighborhood but we never felt uncomfortable.

We are very friendly married couple who loves traveling, seeing different cultures and meeting new people! We are environmentally conscious, love going to movies, eating out & just spending time in our new house. We have both traveled in many different countries and lived in Brooklyn and in New York for many years. :)
Our house is a private 3 story house that only us occupy. When our friends and family are not staying with us we rent our guest rooms through AirBnB. It has been a wonderful experience meeting new people and we love having different people from different countries staying in our house!
Our house is located right at the border of Brooklyn's Crown Heights and Bedford Styvesant neighborhoods. The whole house is newly renovated with brand new modern kitchens, bathrooms, floors, appliances (fridges, stoves, tv's ) etc.
We will try to do our very best that you enjoy your stay with us and feel like at home! :)
