I live upstairs with my 2 cats. I will be honored to direct you to the "hot spots" of Sonoma County that only us "natives" can share. Come escape (only 1.5 hours drive from the Bay Area) to my little piece of paradise!
wi-fi, DVD/VCR player and screen, bbq in back yard...For stays over 2 nights with pre-arrangement, (so I can spiff it up :) host's unit kitchen with standard stove and oven are available.
Interaction with Guests
We share an entrance hall; I live in the upstairs portion. I am often gone during the day but like to meet, greet, then give you as much privacy as you would like. My policy is to stay available (by text, phone or in person) during your stay at my home.
I have a very sunny location with lots of redwoods across the river and other shade trees. By June 15, the temporary dams are in, allowing for lots of fun interaction with people enjoying the river by boat or float.. One can retreat to the flat or be part of the friendly recreating group on the river. There is always something going on 1/2 mile away in town and the ocean beach is just 20 min. drive so the weather choices and nearby hike/bike/swim opportunities are rich. It is in the heart of the RR wine country for winery explorers as well.
Don't count on public transit. There is space to park 3 cars in front of the unit. Summer can bring traffic congestion on River Road, especially Friday nights. Using 116 might be a better alternative depending on the day. It's handy and fun to have a bike to access town. Be sure to ask your host about back roads to circumvent traffic- especially if checking in on a Friday between 2 and 6pm or on a holiday weekend.
Other Things to Note
Please do not expect to cook in the unit. I am usually happy to share my fully equipped kitchen in my flat upstairs but need some heads up at time of reservation if your heart is set on that.. Most people find the breakfast bar adequate for breakfast, snacks, drinks but please read the description of how the kitchen is equipped.
Children 3 and under are free. Please advise at time of inquiry. Note:I have changing tables and toddler safety gates you can borrow but the place is not" child-proofed" as a rule. Stairs, the street, and the river are obvious hazards for dogs and small children.
Small and large dogs welcome, but must be well-behaved and remain with owner at ALL times. Please inform your host about dog guests prior to the check-in day so I can set my cats up for success! There is a fully refundable cash pet deposit of $50.00 due at check in which I mail back to you the day after check-out, PROVIDED THERE is no damage to rugs, woodwork, towels or furniture fabric AND you have not left your animal unattended at any time during the visit. Unfortunately, if I am not informed of the extra "dog guest" at time of registration, I need to charge an additional fee of $25.00 per night per dog guest when you check in.
Smoking allowed on porch or in backyard ONLY, not (website hidden), even on your own camp stove, is only allowed outside.
This is a great place for daytime recreation. Guests beyond the original registered party are allowed only by prior arrangement and need to leave by 10:00pm. PLEASE let me know if someone might be visiting. This is my home, not a public party place or a hotel.
My security after you leave may depend on your good communication.
In deference to neighbors, quiet hours are midnight to 8am.

Suz was a great host. Our non-profit was looking for a place to hold a multi-day meeting. The round table was perfect for gathering and the river was a welcomed distraction when needed. The location is walking distance from downtown Guerneville, so we were able to walk to town for dinner. Suz was incredibly accommodating with our check-in and out times. She was helpful, kind, and gave our group lots of space.
Suz made us feel very welcome. She left us some fruit and some provisions and the flat was just as she had described.
Suz was very accommodating about our check-in time and was simultaneously friendly yet gave us our space throughout the weekend. The flat couldn't be in a more convenient location, right on the river and a very short walk to downtown. Suz has curated an inviting and artistic home with lots of beds in two adjacent rooms for a cozy friend group. (Do note that there is a curtain rather than solid door between these rooms.) I love that not only does Suz have a great table for board games, but she has a collection of classic games there for you! The wifi is on the slow side, but who needs internet when the river is in your backyard? We also enjoyed the loaf of tasty local bread Suz left for us and made use of her barbecue. When there was a slight hiccup in getting it to work, she was quickly found and set it all to rights. Then we floated down the river in tubes that were waiting for us in the storage area, already blown up. This flat is an amazing deal for its host, size, location, and decor (we particularly loved the grand piano). We hope to come back and stay here again soon!
Suz was a great host she was there to welcome us when we arrived and had all of the beds set up. The place is simple but a perfect little place to hang with friends if you don't need too much. The backyard and river are gorgeous and a good place to sit and enjoy the evening sunset or the early morning sun with a cup of coffee and a book. The whole time we were there we felt like we were on a little retreat and enjoyed every moment. Suz even left us some delicious local bread and fruit as a breakfast! We would definitely come back.
The apartment was perfect and the location by the river amazing! Suz made us feel very welcome and even provided us with fruit and coffee for the morning. I would definitely recommend the Sunny Riverfront Flat for anyone :)
About the Host, Suz
I am a teacher (2-adult), naturalist and a Sonoma County native. I travel widely; love meeting other travellers...In fact, I often work with ESL students so i can travel "vicariously." My two cats are quite independent but i dearly miss having a dog and to tell you the truth, this place needs more dog visitors to ward off the racoons!
I'm as quiet as my cats and just as independent. Even though I love my river home, I work out of town and often like to "get away" myself...
I continue to perfect my hosting after a couple of successful years. If you don't love your stay for any reason, I am happy and usually able to do what it takes to "make it so." ...either during or afterwards; just let me know.
I do look forward to meeting you!
