We had a lovely stay at Davide's place with the exception of a few minor concerns and annoyances.
Firstly, the location is great. It is a few hundred meters from the beach and very close to a small supermarket that has everything you might need for a short stay. The beach has cafes (with excellent cheap coffee) and umbrella pitches, and there are a couple of bars. It has nice fine sand and protected swimming coves that are great for small children to play in. The apartment is also only a short drive away from the excellent L'oro di Napoli pizza restaurant, and a large Pam Panorama supermarket that is located inside a mall and has enough shops to satisfy most urban needs. The apartment is peaceful, private, has nice decor (some very nice pictures on the wall), and easy free off-street parking.
There are some things you should know though. The apartment is actually a converted garage. This did not bother us too much at first, but when a neighbor started construction work (seemingly to do their own garage conversion) very early (7am) one morning, not only did it sound like they were doing heavy duty drilling within our apartment, but the dust seeped in through a connecting door and totally flooded the apartment. This was NOT Davide's fault, we accept that, but it is something to consider if you're thinking of staying here.
In addition to this, the main light in the living area cannot be turned on for more than about 30 seconds without letting out a high-pitched whine that meant it was essentially unusable. We think it may have been setting off the gas alarm that is right next to it but are unsure. That said, we didn't really like the cold fluorescent lighting anyway -- the apartment could really benefit from some nice warm lighting!
Another thing to note is that the bed is actually two mattresses pushed together. This wouldn't be too much of a problem for a couple, perhaps, but we had our 3 year old daughter sleeping in the bed with us and she would fall into the gap at night making her restless and uncomfortable.
Finally, the wi-fi is a little slow. Again, this may not bother most people, especially if you're spending most of your time out. But in the evenings when we wanted to stream movies because the kid was asleep (or needed pacifying) it was a little frustrating.
Davide was very helpful throughout, and we want to emphasize that -- aside from the dust cloud and construction work which was not his fault -- that all of the above are minor and easily fixable concerns that did not detract from an otherwise very enjoyable stay. We did not meet Davide personally, but met some of his friends who gave us the keys and came round during the construction work incident. We recommend that if you are non Italian speakers, that you communicate by airbnb, not voicemail.
