Interaction with Guests
Most of our guests appreciate the private and cozy quality of our very quaint accommodations. We've worked hard to furnish with every detail so you will feel at home and enjoy your independence. Residing on the adjacent property, we make ourselves available for questions of a local nature and for assistance as is practical when needed. We also have a waterfront office and travelers clubhouse with our pier, dock and moorings across the street where all our guests are welcome to relax along with the crews of visiting sailboats and locals who commonly drop by....
Convenient to several typical restaurants and immediately adjacent to the marinas, the neighborhood is walking distance to everything a visitor needs including groceries and the central areas.
Taxis, buses and boats for hire are the main forms of transportation here in Golfito. A rental car is simply not required to enjoy a visit to our area.
Katie was very flexible and easy to work with. I stayed in the studio apt. for 2 nights and the 1 bedroom condo for 3 nights. Her condos are the nicest property in that part of town.. They were actually the most well equipped AirBnB places I've stayed in for a while.. By that I mean the kitchen mostly; coffee, coffee filter, sugar, and a roll of paper towels are missing from most places. The beds, sheets, pillows where new, and everything was extremely clean..
The road below is pretty noisy as other reviewers have said.. But having the activities of the marina to watch, and a good place to eat right across the street make up for it.. Try the French Toast at Banana Bay Marina..
Logement propre et bien équipé, petite terrasse avec une vue plongeante sur la baie de Golfito. Katie met des kayak à disposition pour explorer la baie.
Très bon accueil.
The studio is clean and comfortable, but on the balcony we felt like in a prison. The neighbour gets the nice views...
Ahhhh. Shame..... Your visit coincided with my adventure to Panama to enjoy my first AirBnB hosted home experience.....So apparently in my absence you were not privileged to the information that the "neighbor" was not exclusively entitled to that precious view - The studio opens directly to the greater balcony to welcome guests to share that space, in common with the neighbor lodging in the "Bahia Vista Villa". What you considered to be your allotted balcony is simply the secure breezeway into your little studio with a more private area for you to take your coffee or do your emailing..... The neighbors unit actually has their own little private veranda off the bedroom on the other side of the villa. So sorry you were not properly welcomed to feel comfortable enjoying one of the best views in Golfito just outside your door! Thanks for the feedback. We'll do better next time in communicating this.
Golfito es un pueblo pesquero muy bonito, lo malo es que solo pudimos ir de paso por lo que no pudimos disfrutar de toda su esencia. La casa de Katie es un sitio fantastico a un muy buen precio.
Fantastic place to stay!! My girlfriend and I stayed one night in Golfito at the Studio apartment and had a wonderful time. Katie had prepared the placed beautifully, made great recommendations, and helped us feel right at home. The place itself is cozy and comfortable and with a great view of the Golfito bay to top it off! I would give this place my highest recommendation
Back again from last year as I loved the place.
Studio is nice with all necessities. Wifi, A/C ,bathroom ,TV but limited cooking.
A fantastic view over the gulf from the terasse and a friendly host.
Good fishing with Frolain.
Close to shops and restaurants
Katie's appertment is cosy, clean and we a nice view over the bay. She was very helpful and fast answering to our questions. Since she wasn't present during our stay, she arranged that her friends will take care about us ... they have been very friendly and helpful too and they offered us 2 kayak for free to explore the bay, which was a welcome possibilty since we missed the ferry. Onky remark, we had to use our earplugs to sleep, since we're not used to noise at home and the traffic from street in front of the appartment can be heard quite well.

Katie Duncan arrived to Costa Rica while traveling aboard the sailing vessel 'Caribbee', pleasure cruising with Captain Tim Leachman. With no previous thought to making a home abroad or settling permanently outside their home town of Santa Barbara, California, their cruise down the pacific coast was only meant to be a short escape - a season of fun on the ocean. But something magical happened during those first weeks at anchor in the port town of Golfito . The beautifully calm natural harbor, the verdant green and fantastical sounds of the surrounding jungle, the welcoming bustle of a quaint port town on shore.... It all conspired to lure them into staying longer than planned. One thing led to another and opportunities just kept presenting themselves. The chance for mortgage free property ownership, an easy infrastructure for setting up a business and realizing the dream of self employment, the lure of a more casual lifestyle among a culture of practical and economical living.... Yes, a life with this kind of adventure and joy was too tempting not to embrace! In Katie's words, "there was never a question- we loved Golfito from the moment we pulled into port. It just took a few years to really see and believe that we could make choices to stay and that we could succeed! It's an incredibly bold thing to take a new and unconventional route in life, but not nearly as difficult as one might imagine. Yes, there were challenges along the way. But looking back on it, overcoming the obstacles often made the journey even more exciting and brought more satisfaction and rewards than could have ever been anticipated."
Sharing the fun, the experiences and the expertise gained over the past 20 is Katie's vocation - . and so obviously her pleasure! Katie and the team of competent people working along with her at Land Sea Services are very well equipped with the experience and ability to guide you into your adventures, assisting you all along the journey!
