Best Value lodging in the Marina zone, central to everything. No car required to get around. Fantastic bayview porch. A few steps to the marina restauants, bars and moorings. Good choice for transiting to the airport or a bus connection. Popular selection for singles and our "repeat guests" often in for a 3 day visa renewal or sportfishing day..... If you want to be in the waterfront area on a budget, this is a great selection with very little compromise. Compare us to local marina rates.

The space

Room with a View! This cozy studio-guestroom is located on the hillside above Banana Bay Marina, one block from Golfito's town center. Furnished with a double bed, wardrobe and, for added convenience, a small snack nook including a coffeemaker, mini-refrigerator, microwave and toaster. Private and secure patio entry overlooking our gardens. Air Conditioned, hot water and free Wi-Fi. Great for single or couple. Hotel-Style attendance and services.

Guest access

Private porches and our waterfront patio-dock at the Tierra Mar Cruiser clubhouse facility across the street give lovely options for morning coffee, sunsets and general outdoor living where guests can relax with a coffee, their laptop or the company of other guests and locals.....

Interaction with guests

Most of our guests appreciate the private and cozy quality of our very quaint accommodations. We've worked hard to furnish with every detail so you will feel at home and enjoy your independence. Residing on the adjacent property, we make ourselves available for questions of a local nature and for assistance as is practical when needed. We also have a waterfront office and travelers clubhouse with our pier, dock and moorings across the street where all our guests are welcome to relax along with the crews of visiting sailboats and locals who commonly drop by....

Great cozy little place. Totally got the cottage-by-the-sea vibe. Nice view of the marinas on the balcony.

I think this is one of the best ways to spend your money in Golfito! You have a beautiful view over the bay and really no problem with dirt nor dust! Katie helped us with everything and if you have a question I'm sure she has the answers. Another attraction are the kayaks, which you can borrow and explore the other side of the bay. We definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Golfito is a little town and has not many things to do. But because Katie's studio on the second floor of her house has a lovely view of the sea, I never got board. I had very relaxing days at her studio and used her cooking facilities very well. She just leaved us alone, giving us privacy and space, which I appreciated the most.

Response from Katie:
Yes, we are a "little town".... .but we are not really an "obvious" tourist town. Surrounded by beautiful jungle and all the nature around us and beautiful bay out front along with the little island and Golfo Dulce of the pacific (URL HIDDEN) tour centers or big hotels or fancy restaurants - one has to be ready for a tranquillo holiday here. Kayaking on the calm bay, walking up the forest reserve road, sport fishing, zip lining in the canopy, boat touring along the Piedras Blancas, lively happy hours with the local crowd.....even just lazing in your window seat to look over the bayview and main road below... In contrast to the more dense tourist destinations, one must embrace Golfito as a destination for the self sufficient and those wanting to escape the pull of tour centers and five star attractions for something more "Pura Vida". Glad you could "down shift" and enjoy the respite and view.

We stayed only for one night at Katie's place but we really enjoyed it. The room and the bathroom are clean, the bed was so comfy and we had our small kitchen place where we could prepare our food. This place is near the beach. Katie helped us with our journey to Corcovado park and asked her friends what is our best option to take. Thank you very much:)))

Everything was as advertised and Katie is a very welcoming person. I booked last minute for the night and she was very responsive. I would recommend staying here.

Katie Duncan arrived to Costa Rica while traveling aboard the sailing vessel 'Caribbee', pleasure cruising with Captain Tim Leachman. With no previous thought to making a home abroad or settling permanently outside their home town of Santa Barbara, California, their cruise down the pacific coast was only meant to be a short escape - a season of fun on the ocean. But something magical happened during those first weeks at anchor in the port town of Golfito . The beautifully calm natural harbor, the verdant green and fantastical sounds of the surrounding jungle, the welcoming bustle of a quaint port town on shore.... It all conspired to lure them into staying longer than planned. One thing led to another and opportunities just kept presenting themselves. The chance for mortgage free property ownership, an easy infrastructure for setting up a business and realizing the dream of self employment, the lure of a more casual lifestyle among a culture of practical and economical living.... Yes, a life with this kind of adventure and joy was too tempting not to embrace! In Katie's words, "there was never a question- we loved Golfito from the moment we pulled into port. It just took a few years to really see and believe that we could make choices to stay and that we could succeed! It's an incredibly bold thing to take a new and unconventional route in life, but not nearly as difficult as one might imagine. Yes, there were challenges along the way. But looking back on it, overcoming the obstacles often made the journey even more exciting and brought more satisfaction and rewards than could have ever been anticipated."
Sharing the fun, the experiences and the expertise gained over the past 20 is Katie's vocation - . and so obviously her pleasure! Katie and the team of competent people working along with her at Land Sea Services are very well equipped with the experience and ability to guide you into your adventures, assisting you all along the journey!
