Sunset Manor of Guerneville is located in the hills ½ mile east of Guerneville, within walking distance of downtown and the Russian River. It has its own outside entrance, two bedrooms with queen beds, kitchen, and living/dining room, all overlooking spectacular views of the hills above Guerneville.
The building is situated on the slope of the hill below Sunset Avenue itself, on the north side of the street. The guest space is on the lower level, on the north side of the building - away from the street, thereby a affording significant level of privacy and quiet.
The living/dining room is 14' x 19' with a wood-burning fireplace and a large HDTV with Comcast cable service. A big picture window provides a view of the hills, and a glass door leads to a deck with table and chairs for outside dining and a side yard. There is also a large back yard for your dog (the property is 1/5 acre). The sofa opens up to provide a full-size bed.
Each bedroom has a queen-size bed and a TV. The views from the bedroom windows are stunning - it is a treat to wake up to the sun rising and highlighting the trees! These windows are located significantly above the neighboring homes and are thus afforded a substantial privacy.
Your pets are welcome at Sunset Manor. However, we ask for a fee of $10/night which will be collected when you check in.

Guerneville, an unincorporated town of about 2500, is about halfway between Santa Rosa and the Pacific Ocean - approximately ½ hour either way - on the right (north) bank of the Russian River.
Downtown Guerneville is large (compared to, say, Rio Nido) - about 4 blocks square. There is a 24/7 Safeway (looks like every other Safeway, but the people are friendly locals). There are good restaurants nearby - a good resource is the local chamber of commerce.
Guerneville can be reached by public transportation - the Sonoma County Transit #20 bus comes through about once an hour.
There are lots of fun things to do in the area - varying from kayaking on the river to theater and the local night spots. Northwood Golf Course is about 3 miles west, just east of Monte Rio.
Armstrong Woods State Park is just 2½ miles away, with nature trails, picnic facilities, and horseback riding. There are at least eight wineries with tasting rooms between here and Santa Rosa.
A great ride is west on highway 116 to Jenner, and then south on Route 1 (Coast Highway) to Tomales Bay and our favorite oyster houses.
This is a peaceful place to stay!
Our hosts were incredibly accommodating, welcoming us right at the door. The place itself has clearly been something they've put a lot of energy into. Everything from the manual to the entertainment systems to the new grill was stocked for a great weekend. It was kept clean. It was just a quick walk from the center of Guerneville, so the location was great. Our hosts were also very respectful of giving us some space. I felt like this place offered a lot of value!
We had a wonderful stay at Bill and Ben's place. They are so friendly, and they walked us through everything. It's very obvious they have put a lot of time and effort into making their rental welcoming and homey, and into making sure their guests have access to all the amenities they could possibly desire. Everything was as described, and we really felt that home-away-from-home vibe. Would definitely stay again!
My husband and I took my parents (who were visiting from Minnesota) to the Russian River for the weekend. Bill and Ben were generous and attentive hosts. They welcomed us even upon our late arrival, giving us a thorough tour of Sunset Manor and making us feel welcome.
The views from the unit are incredible, and all of Guerneville is within easy walking distance. Bill and Ben gave us plenty of privacy, even though they live upstairs. The place was great for our two doggies, with a large fenced in back yard separate from the front yard. We cooked a LOT while staying here, and the kitchen (although small) had everything we needed. Bill and Ben even provide freshly ground coffee for their guests.
Since the unit is in the basement, and Bill and Ben said there was a water spill recently, it was very musty when we arrived. However, the smell dissipated after a day of cooking and lighting a fire in the fireplace and it ended up not being an issue for us. However, if someone in your party has severe allergies, this may not be the place for you.
This unit isn't fancy or luxurious, but quaint and cozy. For the value and comfort Sunset Manor has to offer, we would definitely stay here again.
Bill and Ben were very friendly hosts. They made sure my friends and I got the most out of our trip.
Bill and Ben were great and very buttoned up with the rental. They had a welcome packet prepared, instruction booklet for all of the electronics, a catalogue for the library of books and games, etc. They were also very accommodating with answering questions, providing more firewood, and allowing (with deposit) a friend and his dog to join us.
The location of the house is also great. It's a 10-minute walk to the coffee shop and all the fun bars and restaurants, but it's enough out of town that we felt like we were really up in the hills, including a pretty nice view.

My partner Ben and I have owned Sunset Manor since 2008. Our objective is to provide a clean, safe, comfortable, and quiet environment where you can relax in an unpolished and unpretentious "home away from home" while having amenities that enhance your enjoyment.
We've been fortunate in having wonderful guests over the years - over 300 tenants! Living upstairs from this (website hidden) most enjoyable as we are aware that our tenants are enjoying themselves. While we are here to help with any needs tenants may have, we also strongly respect the privacy of our guests, and do not intrude into the tenant space - inside or outside - unless invited.
