We had a great time in this well equipped, centrally located apartment. Hong was very communicative, helpful and provided us with lots of information to make sure our stay was pleasant.
Great location! All 13 of us very satisfied with the apartment eventhough it is quite small but for budget traveller it is more than enough for us:-)
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a place to stay in HK:-)
Hong is very good host. Even before our stay in his place, he replies very quickly to all my queries. I did not meet him personally as his Dad was the one who meet us along Jordan street to take us to his place. I was amazed by his Dad's patience in waiting for us. He asks everyone who passedby if they are me. I almost missed him as I didn't understand at first that he was asking if I am April until he showed me a piece of paper with my name. The house is very clean. Enough space for us group of 6 adults and 2 kids. We didn't spend much time there anyway. We were always out and go back there to sleep. The heater works pretty well, since we are 8 i kinda expected that at somepoint it will not provide heat anymore buy it did not disappoint me. Wifi is fast too. If you plan to cook there's stove and utensils as well. Overall, my stay in Hong Kong was very good and I am happy that I chose Hong's place. Oh by the way, the pictures here are exactly how it looked like. Thanks Hong! 2 thumbs up!
Irene is a very helpful host. Scheduling for key pickup was a breeze. She is very flexible and is responsive to any questions that we had before and during the stay. The apartment is exactly described. During the stay, Hong Kong was experiencing an early spring humidity (some days as high as 98%). It would be nice if the host can provide a dehumidifier. I did ask Irene for it and she said it could not be provided due to safety reason. At the end, I borrowed one from my local family to resolve the problem. It might be worth it for the host to invest in a dehumidifier that has safety features. Hong Kong in general is a very humid place. Visitors from other countries might not have experienced this situation (eg water coming out of the tiles in the bathroom). I have stayed at an airbnb type place in Taipei and the host provided a dehumidifier with a list of instruction. With proper care, I think it won't be as much of a hazard than letting guests use the stove.
Overall, no complain about the stay from all of the occupants. Location is superb. Airport bus and MTR are right around the corners. We especially like the walking distance to TST. Will recommend to anyone who is looking to visit HK on budget. Thanks again Irene for the pleasant experience!
Great Location and close to subway with airport bus stopping almost at the front door. Many choices of restaurants, shops and night markets within walking distance. Bathroom although could use small touch ups. Host was helpful and friendly despite our late arrival close to midnight.
P E R F E C T ! ! !
Location is the best ever.
Wi-fi worked but not smooth sometimes.
Tasty food are around the apartment.
P E R F E C T is suited for it.
Superb location easy for traveling, eating and shopping. The apartment was clean, neat, tidy, small and cosy. However the washroom is slightly run down compared to that shown in the picture.
Travellera should also take note that the wifi available in the apartment is very unstable. If wifi is needed, be prepared to purchase your own prepaid data sim.
I stayed in this apartment with my family of 4 in mid December. The location of this apartment was ideal, just 3 min walk from Jordan MTR, 5 min to Austin MTR and 15 min walk to Kowloon MTR. Having stayed in another apartment in the same building, this place was slightly short of expectation. The sofa was too soft, the remote control was not working and the mattresses were slightly dirty. In addition, the toilet was not working very well. Other than the above, this apartment was comfortable and is good for short stays.
We were a group of 8 staying at Hong's place for 2 nights. Hong's father is very friendly and came to meet me at the said venue. The place is very convenient place to go from airport and to MTR. The house is a little to cramp for 8 of us, it will be ideal if group of 4 or 6. The toilet shower is very strong/good/hot. Internet wifi is also good! The sofa bed in the living room is slightly old, owner may consider to change it.
My wife's parents are from Hong Kong so this was a big trip to meet all the family members who have been out of touch for decades. I was slightly worried as I convinced my inlaws to stay with us so if the flat wasn't very good I could have been in a lot of trouble. Luckily, Hong's apartment was fantastic. :)
It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Hong was very good at communicating to make sure we had no problems getting there. There are two bunk beds, a sofa bed and a main double bedroom. There is a 24 hour concierge who is introduced to new arrivals in person so you always get a friendly nod when you wonder back from a day out in the city. The shower is amazing, and provides instant hot water which never runs out. Every room has it's own air-con unit so you stay comfortable on hot days (and nights).
The location is excellent. The apartment is right in the middle of Kowloon. Between Austin station and Jordan Station. This is great as they each service different tube lines so you have lots of options of where to go and how to get home.
The building is right next to Temple St market and it's a 5-10 minute walk to most other things of interest (Restaurants, parks, museums, markets, the Star Ferry etc). This is much better than being on the main island as everything is cheaper. There are hundreds of restaurants within 200 metres where you can eat for under a fiver($40). If you want to see Hong Kong island then you can jump on the tube at Jordan and be there in 10 minutes. Laundry is opposite and cheap, bring 5 days clothes and just have them washed.
Hong Kong use British style plugs, so if you are coming from the UK you don't need adapters.
Try and squeeze in a trip to Lamma Island. (from Hong's place it's a 10 minute tube and then maybe 20 mins on a ferry) It's a totally different side to Hong Kong where there are some nice beaches and chilled out beach bars. ((website hidden) image search for "Hung Shing Yeh Beach")
If you want knock out view then visit Sky 100 near Kowloon station. However here's a tip. Don't go to the $168 dollar viewing gallery on the 100th floor, go to the Ozone, the bar is part of the Ritz Carton and it on the 118th Floor! It costs about $100-150 for a drink but that's still less than a ticket to the viewing gallery.
Hong Kong water appears to be fine but can take some getting used to if you are not a local, I recommend getting some big bottles of water from the 7-11 on the corner (100m away tops)
Try and get an "Octopus card" these are pay as you go cards you can use for tubes, also shops and vending machines. Available all over.
