The Space

Modern and unique 2 bedroom apartment located in a very roman neighborhood call Testaccio , one of the most local neighborhoods of Rome, yet very central with the metro line B just around the corner, the tram line and the train station Ostiense at 5 minutes walking, very handy for transportation to and from the airport.
The apartment features 1 double bedroom, lounge area with tv sets dining table and separate fully equipped kitchen. The second bedroom has a very comfy double sofa bed and wardrobe.
There bathroom with shower box is on the corridor in between both rooms.

Testaccio is the 20th rione of Rome, deriving its name from Monte Testaccio. In antiquity, much of the Tiber River trade took place here, and the remains of broken clay vessels (amphorae) were stacked creating the artificial Testaccio hill, which today is a source of much archeological evidence as to the history of ancient everyday Roman life.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • Great apartment - it was listed as one bedroom when we took it but discovered that it comfortably sleeps 4 (even though we were only 2 so plenty of space for us). There is a large double sofa bed in the second bedroom. The flat could use a lick of paint but overall it was clean, comfortable and spacious. Most importantly the wifi was flawless. The piazza is amazing and there are always people about, really convenient for food and drink with several supermarkets nearby. The station was a little on the far side but we loved the area too much to care. The amazing Remos pizzeria is across the road and really worth several visits. I wish I had bought one back with me! The Gelato shop below the flat serves the best icecream and most of our nights ended there and playing on the swings in the park. I would love to stay here again.

  • We had a lovely stay at 'Gaia's house' in Testaccio. The flat is lovely and has everything two people need for a few days in Rome. The locations is ideal to discover the area around and walk to the city centre. We stayed three days and it rained non-stop! So after long, adventurous walks around Rome we were happy to find this cosy and warm flat waiting or us. The fruit and vegetable market nearby is a must!

  • We had a very pleasant stay, the appartment is very well located and equipped. It was our first stay in Rome and the place was a very good starting point to explore the city on foot.

  • Really cute little apartment!

Tons of great books and a nice little music library as well!

I love Testaccio, awesome restaurants, night life, bookstore right below the apartment, ect, ect, ect!

I know Testaccio well, as I used to live just one zone away, and would highly encourage people to check it out. Close to the Aventine Hill, the Tiber, and on the other side of the river from Trastevere!

The piazza, which is right below the bedroom window, is so full of life, not touristy really, just Roman! A nice way to feel like you are part of the city.

Definitely worth a look to see if you can book this apartment!

  • The apartment was absolutely perfect, I think it could be one of my favourite places that we have discovered on AirBnB over the last year of using the site. It's a good 20 minute walk into the historical centre but you can go along the river which we enjoyed doing each day. There are two supermarkets nearby which meant we could cook for ourselves, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast, coffee, salads for lunch & even attempt to replicate a real Roman carbonara which we tried at a restaurant nearby to the apartment, which blew our minds, by the way!!
There is also one of Rome's top deli's on the main street just 5 minutes walk away.
Communication with the host was perfect, we had no issues finding the place, meeting Diego there or dealing with keys - all very smooth.
Rome is busy, crowded & very touristy, so it was really nice to stay away from all that. We only had 4 nights, but even so it didn't matter that we weren't right in the centre - in fact, it was welcome relief to get back to the apartment in "real" Rome after a day battling queues & crowds.
We would love to stay again - thanks very much!!

  • What a great place. Very close to the city centre. About 15 mins walk to the Forum and 10 mins to Bocca Della Verita. Very nice neighbourhood. Lovely stylish apartment, decorated beautifully.
Carolina was waiting at the apartment to meet us with a map and some information about buses and sites to see - even though we had a late check in.
    Highly recommend staying here.

  • Very nice location - just perfect to feel the local atmosphere. Walking distance from all the touristic points. A little bit too noisy in the evenings and early mornings because of the people at the piazza and early opening bar downstairs, but still so very roman! )) We loved the place.

  • The pictures don't do Gaia's house justice, it's a very comfy and cosy apartment with a personal atmoshpere. Great kitchen and bakery, vege stores and supermarket nearby so we were able to enjoy delicious home cooked Italian food. All major sights are withing walking distance, if you bring good shoes that is. Diego seemed a bit impatient, not very hospitable but well organised and easy to contact.
