This is an amazing place to stay in Oia without doubt. Originally Marcos Rooms were all booked, I was still be able to contact with Panos and he offered us an underground cell( which "upgraded" to a normal room due to some misunderstanding between my friend who checked in 4 hours before I arrived). We got the better room which is 20 euros more expensive without knowing it, Panos's parents realized the mistake later but did not charge my friend for the extra money. I am grateful for their understanding.
About the place, it is very close to best place/platform to take sunset picture of Santorini. If you are coming to Santorini, this place is the best. The terrace has a view of the sea on the east side of the island and the church nearby. I love Terrace in general haha:)
the room is clean, Panos parents kindly offered me orange juice after I had the 4 hour hiking in Santorini. Bathroom is clean and has warm water, unlink what others's description. I think they improved it. Pano's parents called taxi to airport for me for 30 Euros. I enjoyed myself a lot. Will definitely book again and go to Santorini again.
The location of Marcos rooms is very good, a good place to see the sunset. They also provided breakfast which is nice. However room was different from what we expected. The washroom though clean, had a smell which made us feel uncomfortable. The lady who was doing the housekeeping often quarrelled very loudly with the other male housekeeper. We did not feel very at ease staying here.
We had a nice experience. The location of the room was great, with absolutely gorgeous views.
The best view in santorini
And kindliy grandma and fa
Strong suggest this place
Macros Rooms are simple but you have more than rooms! The view, the hospitality of the owners. Michael and his wife take care of all guests as their close relatives and explained their village OIA very details. Follow their recommendation to enjoy the best tradiional restaurant in the village. The location is soooo cool. After the sunset (normally is at 8:30 p.m.) the crownds is rushing to their buses, but we feel very relax because ee are staying there, do not have to leave. Will recommend to any one who have plan to Santorini. Pls book it in advance as the rooms run out very fast, especially June to Aug.
Great location! Didn't meet Panos. But his parents were very nice and welcoming. The pictures pretty much say it all. Older building with older furniture. Little more on the expensive side for what you get. Like others have said, the bathrooms smell bad. Nice free breakfast in the morning!
Marcos Rooms is very well located in Oia, just steps off the main road. I think Panos lives in Athens while his parents run the B&B. Our room, A1, was right at the front, so we were awakened any time people were speaking outside our room, unfortunately--especially at 8am for breakfast. However, we loved Santorini & had a pleasant stay overall. We appreciated the free, filling breakfast served daily. The hosts were very generous but do not speak good English.
Major con: the shower. It's just a shower head in a bathroom--no doors, no curtains, so it soaks the room. Traditional old Greek house--but very wet, dirty, & inconvenient, especially since the hot water runs out after about 5 minutes. We dreaded showering every day.
In addition, the most negative part of our stay was the fact that the couple who runs the place yells at each other in Greek EVERY waking moment, & as the walls are very thin, we could hear it all the time. The woman absolutely screams at the man all day long, & it made us very sad. Obviously we could not tell what they were fighting about, but it was discouraging to us as we were trying to celebrate our 1-year anniversary.
For people on a tight budget or those looking for the feeling that you're staying in a traditional "Greek" home, this place is a fine idea, but I think next time we'll splurge & stay in a resort.
