The space
Enter this gorgeous and spacious (2800 sq. ft.) 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, historic house and feel your worries dissolve. Located on a lovely hilltop just outside the town of Vineyard Haven, the home features elegant and open spaces for entertaining, relaxing and enjoyment.

Lovely living room and sunny book nook feature 10 foot ceilings and fabulous breezes through large windows. The dining room will fit a large group and really feels like home. Sink into our amazingly comfortable furniture with a book, or enjoy a movie or a game with your family and friends. The flat screen TV in the living room has streaming TV options via Apple TV and Cable TV. There is air conditioning in all rooms for the hot summer days, and heat once it gets cooler.

There's a delightful very sunny 3 season room - extra space for games, work, and just relaxing. The kitchen is large and FULLY stocked with all of the accoutrements you'll need to cook amazing meals. The mudroom/laundry room has full size washer/dryer, utility closet, and more.

The bedroom layout is as follows:

- Double bedroom off the book nook, with full ensuite shower room. ** NOTE: This 'shower room' is a novelty! It's like a wet room on a boat, with the shower and toilet sharing a space. Some people (who love boats) love it! Some people think it's odd and choose to bathe in the family bath. It is beautifully designed by an architect, and was the only way we could fit a shower in there for our guests.

- Large King bedroom with 2 closets and sitting area
- Queen bedroom with wardrobe and en-suite bathroom
- 'Kids' room - bunk bed with full bed below and twin up top.
- Full family bathroom on 2nd floor serving King and Kids room.

Additional Sleeping Options:
- Full sofabed in the living room
- Queen sofabed in the 3 season room

Amenities include: Streaming TV in King BR; Cable and Apple TV in LR; fully loaded kitchen; W/D; hair dryers; A/C; iron and ironing board; high-speed internet; several heating options including pellet stove, and more. Linens and towels not included.

** If you have more than 8 guests please note: The house is certainly large enough to host your group comfortably, as we've had many large families stay- quite a few returning year-after-year. We simply want to make sure you fully understand the sleeping layout, so that you can decide, prior to booking, whether or not this house is a perfect fit for your size group.

The exterior features a large deck with plenty of seating, a Weber propane grill, a nice side yard with grass, an outdoor shower, fenced in area for pups, and a brand new fire pit with Adirondack chairs surrounding it.

This rental includes UP TO THREE cars max, including any and all visitors. One to two cars is ideal for the size of the driveway.

The home is situated high on a hilltop and is close proximity to everything- town, shops & restaurants, playground, sports fields, beaches. The wonderful Martha's Vineyard Museum is literally a 2 minute walk! A 7 minute walk down the hill to the Lagoon and boat rentals where you can rent kayaks, and another 10 min farther to learn to windsurf! Only 1 mile to Owen Little Park Beach, and 1 1/2 miles to Eastville Beach. A true pleasure.

For children, walk to the park and play ball, swing or fly a kite. For the adults, walk to the lagoon and kayak, or walk downtown to great shops and restaurants and stroll the historic homes.

There is an additional vacation rental on the property. It is a small tastefully renovated 1 bedroom cottage with well equipped kitchen, concrete counter tops, washer and dryer and its own yard with outdoor shower, grill, and fire pit. 1 single bed/couch in small office, 1 double bedroom, and 1 queen sleep sofa.

Where you’ll be

Tisbury, Massachusetts, United States

This beautiful hilltop house is on a lovely residential street a short walk to town (Main Street in Vineyard Haven). You can walk either through a park and playground or along the lagoon to go into town, to restaurants or shops, or to the ferry.

To get to beaches from this house you can walk down the hill to the lagoon, where you can rent kayaks and paddle out. Or you can walk into town which is about 10 minutes through the park, and walk another 5 minutes to Owen Little Park which has a small beach, or about 5-10 more minutes to the public beach next to the yacht club.

There is also a more secluded beach a short drive away where Lake Tashmoo meets the ocean. It one of my favorites, down a beautiful dirt road with water on both sides. The lake side of the beach is dreamy peaceful and perfect for young children, and the ocean side is a perfect, small classic beach.

Martha's Vineyard is a beautiful island off of Cape Cod, in Massachusetts. Vineyard Haven is the primary port, with historic homes, lovely beaches, fabulous shopping and delicious restaurants. Our house is just outside the center of Vineyard Haven and the ferry.

About me:

A holistic coach and consultant and a nature and ocean enthusiast, I have lived on Martha's Vineyard full time for 30 years now - and vacationed there for a decade before as a child. In my heart, Martha's Vineyard has always been my home. I fell in love with both of these homes immediately when I found them - they were much more than houses. For decades, I had an award winning massage center in our Oak Bluffs home, and people often comment on its oasis-like feel. Our historic Vineyard Haven home was owned by a school principal and his wife and children. The energy in that one is truly special - incredibly comfortable, but also gracious with beautiful, high ceilings.

My favorite Oak Bluffs morning routine is to go for a run through the beautiful nature trails a short jog away, enjoy a smoothie in the hot tub, then mosey down the street to our local coffee shop for a wonderful cuppa and a hello to other locals and visitors gathering there.

My nieces and nephews on the other hand, get far more excited in our OB house about the late afternoon or after dinner Back Door Donuts almost across the street, or a walk down to the arcade and ice cream shop to enjoy their ice cream cones while watching the nightlife walk by on Circuit Ave.

From the Vineyard Haven house, we love to walk down to the lagoon, or the tiny beach down a dirt road from there to see early morning birds, then to to Main Street for our cuppa, or evening walks after cooking out on the deck the amazing MV Film Center in town.

Why this location?

Oak Bluffs is my home and there is no location on Martha's Vineyard like it. With its coffee shops, restaurants and shops in town, the beach just a couple of blocks away, Ocean park separating the house from the ocean, the Tabernacle a block in the other direction, the Flying Horses carousel for children, Union Chapel with its performances and the harbor just down the street, for me it just doesn't get any better than this.

But I DO love our Vineyard Haven location for its gorgeous homes, studio, hilltop breezes and peaceful expanse of green, while also being a short walk from everything wonderful - water, town, shops, restaurants. I'm constantly enjoying both towns and homes - and love the variety - and our repeat guests do too! They come to both locations and adore them both.

Our Vineyard Haven home houses transformational holistic retreats, and the property holds that energy. It's a Vineyard oasis.
