We used to live in Manhattan, and now we make Union City our home. Why? Larger apartments, as fast or faster to get into the city (faster than traveling on the express train from Harlem), and a great neighborhood vibe.
* Real home with a yard, a grill, a TV and a fully equipped kitchen.
* Fast dependable wifi
* Private keypad code for you only, no keys to lose
* 24/7 super easy access to Manhattan, buses go every 2 min, $3 per trip
* Walk home from bus or walk in neighborhood safely, very low crime area
* Supermarket, cafe con leche, fresh bread, restaurants, city skyline view all in walking distance.
* Real beds for six people, air beds for extras
* Baby grand piano, if you play
We hope that you'll come stay with us and discover for yourself how crazy it is to be in a different state, but yet so close that it takes you only 15 minutes to get into Times Square.
This 100 year old brownstone has three bedrooms a full bath and a half bath downstairs, a huge open concept kitchen/dining/living room, back yard and baby grand piano! This house used to be part of an embroidery factory - Union City used to be the Embroidery Capital of the world. Lots of German and Swiss history here.
FOR FAMILIES: Babies and kids are considered guests and are to be included in the guest count.
We have three queen beds in the house, and we can provide you with air beds for additional guests. The couch in the living room should not be used as a sleeping place please.
Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.
All the payments are safely made with credit card to AirBnB when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "rockefeller" in your inquiry to me.
TV, wifi, full kitchen, baby grand piano, back yard, parking permit if needed (please let me know in advance).
Interaction with Guests
This is a private listing so you will be on your own but we will greet you and be available to assist you during your stay! I love showing people around, so let me know if you want to explore together. I live only a few blocks away in another of our listings.
* Located in Union City, NJ, a very short direct bus ride to Times Square area and all sightseeing attractions.
* Five blocks from gorgeous Manhattan views (along Hudson River)
* Best 'cafe con leche' in town on corner. You'll wonder why you spend so much at Starbucks!
* Buses to Manhattan/Times Square run every minute during day, and every 4 minutes at night. Buses run all night.
* Great grocery and wine/liquor stores in the neighborhood including one right on the corner which is open until 11pm
* Very safe neighborhood, lots of great restaurants and bakeries but also very quiet at night.
Super easy buses that run 24/7 all night. Fare is $3 and you catch the bus in front of the New York Times Building on 8th Ave. You can also take NJ Transit #123, or 154, 159 - too many options to list!
About Transportation: I have received many questions from people who don't believe it possible to be outside of Manhattan and so close to it, yet it's true. Here are some facts about transportation:
1. House is 5 minutes (6 blocks) from the bus stop.
2. The bus is very frequent, I rarely wait for it more than 2 to 3 minutes. Most of the time you won't even wait at all. You will step to the bus stop and a bus will be there.
3. Buses are available 24/7 so you can catch them even when you spend the whole evening out. No joke.
4-The price of these express buses is $3 onboard, and $2.50 if you buy tickets at ticket window #23 at Port Authority Bus Terminal
5. You won't find these buses timetable or route on the internet, it's a private bus company that runs many lines in and out of Manhattan.
* City bus runs every 12 minutes to Hoboken, home of the Cake Boss and every 20 minutes (during commute hours) into Manhattan
* Easy city bus access to Jersey Garden Outlet Mall, much closer and as good as Woodbury Commons
Other Things to Note
Great, reliable laundry drop off services one block away. Drop off dirty clothes on your way into the city and pick them up when you return. They open late!
Grab a delicious hero sandwich from La Bella Salumeria or roast chicken to go from Kikiriki. Lots to explore around here.
Make sure you check my Guidebook for more info.
All guests - including children, must be included in guest count.
Only registered/reserved guests please!
The house is in a residential area, so no noise after 11pm or before 6am.
Please wear house shoes inside
Please put your garbage bags into the bins out front
No smoking inside, cost of removing smoke smell from furnishings will come out of damage deposit.
Feel free to grill or hang out in yard, but please only until 11pm, the sound carries and we don't want to bother our neighbors

Maria is an excellent host. I had a great time at her place and is very well located, since you have the bus stop 10 mins walk from the house at only $3, very handy to get to NY and the city center.
The house is in perfect condition, very warm and cosy, exactly like in the pics.
She was very helpful and proactive everytime I needed something, and always available. She also recommended me places to eat and have a nice coffee, always in a very friendly manner that made our stay to feel like at home.
I would highly recomment her place and the area is full of supermakets, reataurants and is well connected!
This is the best experience I had with airbnb so far! Loved the house! So warm and comfortable!
We enjoyed a lot our week in the Maria’s house.
Thanks Maria for all your advices, instructions and so prompt and helpful replys to the many questions you can have when you prepare your trip.
The house is like the pictures on the site, very quiet and very pleasant…you can even play piano!
The neighborhood is latino and secure, we have any problem during the all week. Very good bakery at 50 meters of the house and supermarkets in the main street.
The only concern I got before having chosen the house was how to join Manhattan from Union City and finally this is very easy thanks to the “chicken bus” (3 $ the seat) which brings you close to Times Square in around 15 minutes. We never waited for more than 30 seconds!
I definitively recommend and will come back without any hesitation!
We had a great stay in Union City. Maria made everything very easy and was always on hand to answer any questions. The place looks just as nice as the photo's and getting into time square really is that easy! It was amazing to have a NYC trip when you aren't stuck in a cramped, expensive hotel room but instead have a whole house to relax in. Would definitely book another stay here. Thanks again for helping us have a fantastic holiday.
After a long drive from Ontario we arrived to find a very welcoming home which was easy to find. Maria and Jay were very welcoming and super friendly. The neighbourhood is safe and the locals very friendly. Getting into NY was super easy. Had a great time and highly recommend this property. Thanks Maria and Jay.

We have a number of listings, so please take a look at all of our places for availability. Each of our listings has very easy access into Times Square - we are big advocates of our local bus service which we call the "chicken bus". Buses run every 5 min, 24/7 to Times Square. Take a look at our guest reviews to see what travelers say about getting in and out of NYC. We are not agents, my husband, Jay and I take care of guests full time!
We are Canadians living in the US, and are well traveled ourselves and know how important a good nights sleep is while you're away.
We will make sure that you are comfortable here.
