Comfortable home with friendly hostess. 5 mins drive to CBD and main beach. 25 minutes walk to back beach through national park. Byron Bay is a major tourist destination because of its fantastic weather, beaches and ambience! A great place to relax!
My house is open plan with 2 available bedrooms for rent. One has a queen size bed and the other a single bed. I also have a room in the house but am not here much and not in the evenings. It is a fairly quiet area about 5 minutes drive to the main town and beach. Come and join the Byron Bay Stringrays every morning to swim the bay and have coffee at the Beach Hotel. Enjoy the lush green hinterland and small local villages and markets. Watch the dolphins surf the famous right hander at "The Pass."
There is a back beach called Tallows which is a little wilder and can be accessed via a walk through national park, which takes about 25 minutes. Lots of people cycle here and it takes about 15 mins on a bike to town. The township of Byron caters for tourists and has many restaurants and cafes. Public buses run from the main coast road (7 mins walk) into town and takes 10 mins. We have a beautiful hinterland with many small villages and scenic views. A short drive away, we have the national parks of Lamington and Border Ranges exhibiting some of our beautiful, lush rainforest.
You will have use of all facilities including large, well stocked kitchen and verandah overlooking garden and your own bathroom with bath. There is a piano for all you budding musicians!
Interaction with Guests
The interaction with guests is totally up to them. I am available to chat, help or drive them to town sometimes. If they don't want me around, I will disappear to my partners place around the corner! I will ask guests on their arrival what they prefer or they can let me know via email before they come.
The neighbourhood is quiet and just the right amount of distance out of a busy little town. The only traffic is local as our street is a dead end. We have a great new coffee shop on the corner about 7 mins walk away!!
Public buses run along the main coast road. I have bicycles you can borrow or it takes about 45 mins to walk into town.
I am very conscious of preserving our environment by using only what is needed. I would like people to turn off appliances and lights when not in use and be water conscious. Australia is the driest continent on the planet! Shoes must be taken off on the verandah before entering the house. No animals allowed and no smoking or drug taking on the property at all. I expect people to clean up after themselves and when leaving, strip the sheets off the bed please. No excessive noise after 11pm or before 8am. Thank you
Marie was lovely and very accommodating. The place was beautiful and her bikes made for a wonderful means of transport around Byron. Would definitely look into staying with Marie again the next time we're in Byron. Thanks for a warm and welcoming stay, Marie!
Marie was a lovely, informative and attentitive host. Accommodation was as described and spacious enough for our little tribe. Thank you Marie!
Marie was a great host. She was very welcoming and made us feel at home very quickly. The property was comfortable and everything we need was there. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of all the options she had e.g. Borrowing bikes etc, but certainly felt like we could. All in all would recommend to anyone who would like a nice pleasant local person to talk.
Her home made yogurt is brilliant.
Spacious and comfortable home.
With all you need for a week stay.
However the home is a shared space with the owner
Quiet, comfortable and serene home nestled in the woods outside of town. Marie's home provided us a comfortable stay in Byron Bay. Although not really walkable to town, we used Marie's bikes most of the time and managed a few short drives here and there.
Marie was a very warm and welcoming host. The home is comfortable and well equipped which is just as well as it rained for virtually the full 48 hours that we were there....not Marie's fault of course!
We had a wonderful time at Byron Bay and Marie made us feel very welcome and at home. A peaceful place where we enjoyed a rest after travelling around in a campervan and spend Xmas. It is great for children too and Marie had a extra mattress ready in case the little one sneaked it. Very thoughtful! We would love to come back one day and hope to stay in touch!

Hello, my name is Marie and I enjoy a wonderful lifestyle in the seaside town of Byron Bay. I enjoy to swim in the early mornings with the swim group ( Byron Bay Stringrays). We walk from main beach to the Pass and swim back the 1.5kms to the surf club. We will often see a wide variety of sea life such as turtles, dolphins, stingrays and different varieties of fish. Afterwards we meet for coffee and a chat at the Beach Hotel overlooking the ocean. What a great way to start the day! The walk up to the lighthouse is another regular activity often done with a gaggle of girl friends! I enjoy to relax on the verandah and read the paper or the latest novel for book group. Several days a week I meet with friends and we ride our bicycles' into the glorious hinterland. I love living in this beautiful part of the world!
I am lucky enough to work on a casual basis at the small local hospital. Look forward to sharing my place with (website hidden). Babies welcome (including newborns).
