Our Bed and Breakfast overlooks a beautiful urban park. One mile to Downtown. Close to the Great American Ballpark. Near Eden Park and the Cincinnati Art Museum. Two miles to the University of Cincinnati. Lovely two room suite with adjoining bath
I spent four nights at Ethel and Barry's while attending an educational summit. I had early mornings and wasn't able to enjoy the breakfasts that other reviewers praised, however, they were thoughtful enough to leave out food and coffee so that I didn't have to try and grab something on my way in the morning. They have a very friendly dog (Luna) and a nice house with character. The weather was frigid the first couple days of my trip but I stayed plenty warm in my room. The shower had good hot water. If you need a place to stay in Cincinnati and want to avoid the overpriced run-of-the-mill hotels/motels and enjoy the company of nice folks, I recommend it.
If you look at the pictures online it looks like you would be staying in a nice big hotel. But it's not. It is a house that is being remodeled. It is nothing like the pictures show it. The room is just like the pictures, but that is just it. I stayed there in October and yes it was chilly/ cold. The only heat we had was an electric blank. You had to share a bathroom with one other person that was staying in the other room. We couldn't even lock our room door. There were no curtains on the windows, I couldn't wait to leave. I'm sorry, but where I could not lock the door I did not feel safe, and being that I didn't feel safe I did not get very much sleep because I was scared that someone was going to come in our room. In my opinion, if I had to stay there again, I would go somewhere else.
Ethel and Barry are quite the hosts, Barry, please add your lovely self to the photo with Ethel! Place is close to the university which is nice for exploring restaurants close by. The pancakes with brown sugar were delicious! Denise and I wish you many blessing in the restoration of the lovely home you are sharing with your visitors passing through.
Ethel and Barry are a pair, indeed. While I didn't have much time to chat, they were warm and accommodating. The space is decidedly unique and I look forward to returning to Cincinnati soon to see their progress on the house.
Certainly enjoyed my first AirBnb with Ethyl and Barry!! They were accommodating (even for our short stay), polite, and we found ourselves cracking up while eating some yummy waffles for breakfast! We will certainly come back next time we're in the neighborhood. Thanks guys!
I had a great visit to Cincinnati for research, and this was a perfect home base. The room was comfortable, and they made me feel at home in the house. I really enjoyed talking with Barry and Ethel, and Barry cooked an excellent breakfast! I would recommend staying here, and I would be happy to stay her again on future visits.
A really great experience and @ wonderful hosts plus a sweet sweet puppy named Luna. There is obviously a bit of a work zone @ this place but Ethel and Barry do their best to make your visit a clean and beautiful experience. Clean sheets, linens, incredible breakfast with 2 of the most interesting people on the planet. I hope to make it back sooner that later!!!
Ethel and husband Barry were wonderful hosts - and pretty excellent breakfast makers!... home made biscuits to die for.
Conversation was sophisticated, advice wise, hospitality generous, coffee hot and tasty.
Our two room suite was very comfortable and included a sitting room surrounded by windows.
The house is an architect's (Barry) work in progress, but all the amenities are there and then some.
Where does one even begin? Ethel and Barry are a complete joy. And yes their dog Luna is a fluffy superstar! I swear Luna wrapped her arms around mine when first meeting me as a welcome I guess and it really did make me feel at home. In fact everything made me feel at home. The room was clean and cool (the air conditioning works great). The sun room was a nice touch and I can definitely see myself staying here again in either room because Ethel and Barry are real people who are comfortable and fun to be around. I even went along when Barry walked Luna and we had a great conversation about Italian wall lizards which I guess are everywhere in these parts. Sadly on this visit I did not see one. If you are looking for a comfy clean bed with good people who are super kind then look no further because Ethel, Barry and Luna are the perfect hosts. I need to also mention I loved that we all had breakfast together. Plus they were super accommodating with early check in. The last thing I would like to say is there is absolutely nothing wrong with the neighborhood and that I felt completely safe both during the day and at night.
I was happy to return to stay another night after my first visit; woke up to birdsong and felt at home!
