Someone on here called Carlos something like a one man tourism de force, and I could not agree more. He recommended an awesome car rental place, and once we'd told him we were coming in on the ferry, he stopped by the ferry in Papeete to make sure we got the car OK and had proper directions. Then during our whole stay, he had offers for fun and interesting things to do and kept us stocked with fresh bread and pineapple. All of this stuff is just so above and beyond.
The bungalow we stayed in was immaculately clean. The windows have thick screens, which was SUCH a relief after weeks of being demolished by mosquitoes. The kitchen is well equipped and has some basics, so it was easy to cook decent meals. We liked this place so much that it was not uncommon for us to spend hours sitting on the porch or the beach after some island exploring. I'd really like to go back someday, and if we feel like staying somewhere else, I would look at Carlos's other listings because he now has my trust for life. Thanks for everything!
We had a lovely stay at Fare Areaarea, near Faa'a. The fare was nice and clean and very close to the sea! The fare is quite far away from other areas to visit on the island of Tahiti-nui and Tahiti-iti so we were pleased we had hired a car.
The pineapple, baguettes and juice was very lovely.

Stayed here with my husband and 2 boys aged 5 and 7 for 2 nights. This was such a great little spot, with a highly attentive and friendly owner (Carlos) and an onsite caretaker who was also most attentive. Definitely one of our best value finds during our 3 weeks in Tahiti- we would definitely stay again. The grounds were meticulously maintained, the kitchen was well equipped cook in, the shower was hot with good pressure, the windows were all screened, and there were even fresh baguettes on our arrival. The only negative might be for some - the beach didn't look like a swimming beach to us - though we didn't try. Beautiful grassy yard to sit and enjoy the views and sunset though.
Carlos was extremely welcoming and he checked in on us throughout our stay, offering to show us the interior of the island. He even cooked a delicious lunch for us on our last day.
The bungalows are well off the beaten tourist track, which suited us well. There are 3 bungalows in total and is ideal for a family group.
This place is excellent, and Carlos is amazing. Incredibly accommodating and kind. I booked this place pretty much because of the reviews, and they were all very accurate so I won't repeat them. But definitely be sure to rent a car to see the whole island (that's not to say that hanging out at the bungalow isn't also fantastic). Highly recommend it!
This was the last stop on a 1-year trip around the world with AirBnBs. I believed we saved the best for last. There is no more welcoming, fun, beautiful, or joyous place than here. These huts are comfortable and surprisingly modern with the feel of an authentic beach hut. An added plus to these adorable abodes is your host himself. Carlos is a one-man tourism-de-force who will tell you where to find the real and natural Tahiti of legendary dreams. There is no amount of money that can buy this experience. Just come here and be lucky, like we were.
Some things to pack, some things to know:
*Rent a car if you are not planning to live completely on this beach for your stay. The huts are away from the city, as they should be, and the very best of Tahiti is closer to here than it is to Papeete. With a car you will be able to take little day adventures that will become your forever treasured memories. Carlos recommended a car rental company that saved us 50% from online fees. Book early for a small car. Ask him.
*Mosquitos and sandflies are an expected part of beach life. Come prepared with a bit of Deet for sunsets and you will be happier.
*You don't need anything fancy to wear here. It is a hot, humid climate. Save your back and luggage fees and live in pareos, shorts, and swimsuits, and 1 airy cotton dress if you want to do something at night. Buy pareos at the local market in Papeete, authentic and cheap!
*If you want to buy pearls, ask Carlos. He has connections with local artisans and suppliers. You'll get the best for less. We were quite happy.
*If Carlos suggest it, do it. That's the final word. :)
Carlos is a wonderful host. The spot is very remote and with awesome views. You need a car to get around, but actually we stayed a lot at the fare and the garden, because it's relaxing and you have kayaks and bodyboards and the beach right infront.
Two small downsides:
When we were there (april)and there were heaps of mozzies, that you couldn't really keep out.moskito net is a must.
The floor and overalls were clean, but spaces like the top of the microwave, flie screens and lamps are not cleaned regularly, if you are picky about such things. Other than that Anita comes every 2nd or 3rd day to clean, swap towels and even sheets, if you like.
Carlos came by often with bread an fruits and he took us on a little hike, which was really nice.
