The space

Located in Princeville on the North Shore of Kauai. The surrounding area is romantic with the view from your bed and the lanai of the majestic mountains behind Hanalei town where rainbows and waterfalls form spontaneously almost every day.

Nature Watch the most romantic sunset on all of Kauai just steps across the street as the sun goes down over Bali Hai, the mountain formation featured in the movie "South Pacific" with the azure blue waters of Hanalei Bay.

Beautiful Surroundings A short walk from the Studio are several spectacular beaches. There are 5 fine-dining restaurants with gorgeous views and two (2) five-star resorts within walking distance.

Guest access

You have access to the studio as well as the shared lanai out back with the BBQ.
Please note:
The Studio is a Vacation Rental (meaning not part of a hotel) we provide an initial starter amount of paper products and soaps. From there, you provide your own supplies. We also provide an initial set of fresh bath towels. If towel service is requested, the cost is an additional $41.67 per day of service, advanced notice is needed. There is a coffee maker, a microwave, convection oven, blender, toaster, towels and sheets. There is no AC. This is a Studio: no stove, no hot plate and no kitchen sink.

Interaction with guests

You will receive all information for check in before checking in. Our office is located 40 minutes from condo, we are near the Lihue airport in Kapaa. We only get you started with basic supplies (i.e toilet paper, you provide any more that you need from there). We won't be able to show you around the property, we will be working away!

Other things to note

There is very limited cell reception out in Princeville. Please view directions and have lock box codes for keys written down in case you don't have access to internet or phone reception. There is no full size kitchen in this studio, there is a half refrigerator, coffee maker, hot pad for basic cooking, utensils, cups. This studio is similar to a Hotel room. We only get you started with basic supplies (i.e toilet paper, you provide any more that you need from there).

CONSERVATION OF ELECTRICITY: Please turn off fans, lights and pull the blinds shut if you wish to keep the Studio cool when you go out. Many people on the mainland do not realize Hawaii has the highest utility rate of all 50 states.
CONSIDERATION AND COOPERATION of all guests is requested at all times. Keep sounds to a moderate level during daytime hours. Minimum sound levels shall be maintained from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. in keeping with Princeville town rules. This is in consideration for the neighbors.
Parking for Hale Moi #213, Side B is in any of the spaces marked “PERMIT” and is on a first come first serve basis. Please note: the parking permit will be in the Studio, note that it must be displayed in your car while parked at Hale Moi. There are “PERMIT” parking spaces provided all along the Hale Moi complex.
THE CONDO AND ENTIRE CONDO COMPLEX INCLUDING THE PARKING LOTS ARE NON-SMOKING. IF CITED, THE FINE IS HUGE AND WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR CC ON FILE.
PLEASE RETURN A KEY TO THE LOCK BOX. This is in case you lose or leave the key inside. PLEASE CONTACT Candace as soon as possible if one or more keys are lost so a replacement is made available for next guests.
When leaving the condo, please LOCK AND CLOSE ALL DOORS.
It is HAWAIIAN CUSTOM TO REMOVE SHOES BEFORE ENTERING. This is to keep the red dirt and sand to a minimum inside the condo and to avoid extra cleaning fees (carpet cleaning, etc.) deducted from the security deposit.
BEACH GEAR including beach towels and beach mats are provided for your use:

–BEACH TOWELS ARE PROVIDED; PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE BATH TOWELS TO THE BEACH.

–PLEASE CLEAN OFF ALL BEACH GEAR AFTER EACH USE WITH THE WATER FAUCET IN FRONT OF 213 AND ALLOW TO DRY THOROUGHLY BEFORE RETURNING TO THE CLOSET

–IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO BEACH GEAR PLEASE LET CANDACE KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO REPLACEMENTS CAN BE PLACED BEFORE NEXT GUESTS.
Due to the potential fire hazard, GRILLING IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE CONDO OR ON THE LANAI AT HALE MOI. NO GRILL OR CAMPING FUEL ALLOWED. THERE IS A PROPANE (CHARCOAL okay if propane has run out) GRILL BETWEEN BUILDINGS 5 & 6.
A current inventory list of everything in the condo is kept and if any inventory is MISSING OR DAMAGED please contact Candace so replacements placed in the studio before next guests – Mahalo!
Guests are KINDLY ASKED TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH DAILY to the dumpster to avoid attracting insects.
Check out instructions:
a.Return keys: one set of keys must be in the lock box and the other set on the kitchen counter.
b.Please return the parking permit to the condo.

c.Turn off fans and all lights; close and lock all doors.

d.Take the trash out to the bin. Note: Food left will be donated and is greatly appreciated.

e.Before taking off for the airport, check the trunk of your car for any beach gear and / or the cooler.

Great place, amazing location! Views in the area are scenic & incredible, w/beauty everywhere. It alternates between sunshine & rain on that part of the island more than other parts, but plenty of sun when we were there. Hidden gem beach right down the street called Hideaways w/a trail that's easy to miss. Also a short drive away from Hanalei & Napali Coast. Convenient to all sorts of activities (snorkeling, surfing, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining). Close to many great beaches as well as other sights (waterfalls, lighthouse). There's great food across the street at Hideaways Pub as well as in Hanalei (Tahiti Nui was a favorite of ours). Plenty of other options for food & shops in the area. Grocery store (w/gas station) is a short drive away as well, right off the highway. Closest laundromat is half an hour away, so might want to plan around that if you're staying in this studio. Apparently there's a washer/dryer on the larger side of these units, as well as a kitchen space if more interested in those amenities. We were able to work around the lack of the kitchen space b/c there was still most everything we needed (just no stove, toaster oven was the closest to cooking that way). You'll have to clean the dishes in the bathroom sink as well but still very workable. The hosts were accommodating, very polite and easy to work with but the initial point of contact was not the person we ended up communicating w/once we arrived. It wouldn't have been an issue had we known to expect it, but that was really the only knock on our stay. It wasn't really much of an issue, just would've liked to know ahead of time so we'd known what to expect. The lanai is pretty great with plenty of sun and great views but just keep in mind that there isn't much privacy from the other lanais, especially the A side of the unit. There's a makeshift divider to separate the lanai between the units but if you have loud neighbors, you'll hear them and will see them if they're outside. We didn't have any issues with this because our neighbors were all very quiet and respectful, but I can imagine some won't be as fortunate. All in all it was a great stay. Great spot for a great price, with everything we needed to make the most out of our visit. Hard not to give it a 5 for those reasons alone. Despite the confusing communication set up, the hosts were very accommodating and have a really great property available for a great price.

Candace's place was very conveniently located and very ideal for seeing the North Shore side of Kauai. As a host, Candace was very responsive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to others and will hopefully be coming back myself!

If you're looking for a quiet get-a-way to Kauai's lovely windward coast, this is the place for you. On the whole, we found Secret Princess 213B comfortable and ideally located for our needs. We note that the studio could use updating and that the mattress was very soft without much support. Candace is very responsive, easy to communicate with and helpful. Overall, we think Secret Princess 213B is a good value for the area and location can't be beaten!

Candace's studio was a nice, cozy place to stay. It was quiet and peaceful. The location is in the more rural area so traveling to stores/restaurants is a bit of a drive. The condo has a very nice view of the forest and mountains. Candace was very interactive and it was easy to find the condo. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to stay away from the busyness of the city

I have always known I would have a home on beautiful Kauai and dreamed of hosting guests who come to Kauai to fulfill their own life's dream. My favorite TV show when growing up was 'Fantasy Island' and here I am. Over the past 13 years I have come to realize that all that guests who have stayed at Wailua Riverside Hideaway become ohana the moment they arrive. It is you the guests who are the true stars in this Fantasy Island called Kauai!

I now run a vacation rental business here on the island managing over 40 properties with co-hosting help from Cathy and Michelle, my ohana!
