Interaction with Guests

If we're staying in town we will gladly meet up during your stay, but we also want people to feel like it's their place.

The Neighborhood

This is one of the most hip neighborhoods in New York City. As described above it is very creative with a ton of photographers, musicians, artists and other creatives. We are also home to a long-standing Polish population. Many stores in the area are written in both English and Polish, and employees generally speak both languages!

There is a lovely fruit stand one block away, multiple bars, and more coffee shops then you could throw a stick at! Also we just discovered a coffee shop two blocks away just started serving the world famous Dough Donuts (K Bagel Cafe at 142 nassau). The neighborhood just keeps getting more awesome!

Getting around

One of the best parts of New York City is the public transportation. We are a short 5 min walk to the Nassau G subway stop, or a 10 min walk to either the Bedford L train or Graham ave L train. Long story short you can be in Manhattan in about 20 min.

Other Things to Note

We have lived in this area for over 14 years and know just about every aspect of it. If you have any questions, ranging from a good tailor, a fast tailor, an old-world italian sandwich shop, the best iced espresso, etc Just ask!

  • We had a fantastic time at Nora and Jac's home! They were incredibly easy to communicate with, extra helpful with suggestions and information about their home and their whole neighborhood... and then really went over-the-top by giving us thoughtful treats to celebrate our anniversary. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay, both for their great hosting, and simply for being in a fun area yet "cozy" part of the city that we were excited to get to know better. We will certainly be back sometime, and will plan to spend even more time there, to properly take advantage of the great backyard and grill!

  • Lovely apartments. Quiet area with lots of bars and shops. Great place for those who want to escape from the crowds of tourists.
    Way to Manhattan 20-30 minutes.
Heating loud at night. For those who are a light sleeper, this is a problem. No storage space for clothes.

    Response from Nora:

Hi Daniel, Glad you had a good time at our apartment! Sorry about the heat being noisy, I assume it was the old steam heat with banging pipes, we are looking into getting that fixed. And good tip on the clothes storage, Ill get an armoir for guests!

Thanks so much for choosing us!

  • We really enjoyed our Greenpoint neighborhood experience here. The location couldn't be better. The apartment is on a leafy side street, on the first floor of a two story row house, and it was quiet and comfortable and it felt really private.

The apartment has lots of style: eclectic, artistic touches and a happy vibe, remixed vintage and modern furnishings, paintings by the owners, lots of plants. The kitchen is spacious and country style, with a big butcher block table, an incredible new stove and woodblock counter tops. There is newly finished hardwood flooring all throughout and lots of light. The living room is a comfortable place to hang with an epic sized flat screen TV. Netflix is a nice perk.

Our hosts Jac and Nora sent a text the day we arrived and were prepared to be very helpful, though everything was taken care of. Many thoughtful touches including a pile of thick towels in the updated bathroom with yardley soap, juice and muffins in the fridge, maps and guides and a local dining guide booklet created by Nora. It was November so we didn't get to hang out on the back patio/garden, which looked like a quiet little haven.

We had many great meals -- there are a ton of eateries all just a few blocks away. We especially enjoyed the savory pies at Pie Corps, the bibimbap at Little Dokebi and the pierogies and gigantic stuffed cabbage rolls at the Northside Bakery.

We walked to Williamsburg a few times, and had an especially memorable feast at Bozu's. The subway stop is close and takes you to Manhattan in 10 minutes or so- incredibly convenient.

The apartment is just a little gem, as said by a previous guest. And the hosts Jac and Nora are easy to contact and responsive. We had a great visit. Highly recommended!

  • This is truly the place I can call home away from home. Nora & Jac take great care of their home. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Their home is considered a gem in the heart of Greenpoint.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Nora and Jac's little apartment in Brooklyn. What a surprise how calm New York City can be! The neighbourhood is pleasant, safe and offers, however, manifold occasions to go out; the subway to Manhattan is not far, the kitchen very comfortable, the garden a really nice place - we sat under a beautiful tree of flourishing mallows (August). The additional bed was useful and comfortable; Nora and Jac answered our questions courteously, reliably and quickly at any time. Thank you for hosting us!

  • The location was great and the garden was really nice. Jac and Nora were really prompt in replying to any enquiries we had and the Netflix was a nice little extra.

  • Nora & Jac have an awesome apt. I loved the art, the plants, the hardwood floors. The apt. was VERY clean; all the conveniences of home; terrific Greenpoint location. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Brooklyn! Be sure you check out the brochure Nora has created for restaurants around the apt.---some great recommendations! I didn't get to many of the places, but I can certainly vouch for Enid's......!

  • I stayed with my 2 teenage children at Nora and Jac's lovely apartment in the heart of Williamsburg. It is really cosy in a leafy, safe area, great to stroll down to the shops and cafes in Williamsburg and easy to get the Metro over to Manhattan or anywhere else. There is a pretty enclosed rear garden which was so peaceful and quiet we couldn't believe we were in the middle of New York!

  • Nora and Jac's place is wonderful and in our favorite part of Brooklyn-Greenpoint. More and Jac are wonderful hosts-great communicators, thoughtful and happy to help with any questions by cell. Also, you can tell they take great pride in their home and neighborhood. They designed a book of suggestions for guests-so nice. The AC was so nice to have as it was 95+ degrees this weekend and the comforts of home were nice (although we were on the run most mornings, they left muffins and OJ for us - so sweet). Although we didn't have time to use it, they even have a little backyard garden and porch in the back. Close to many of the Greenpoint and Brooklyn parks. You should stay here!!

  • Nora and Jac have an awesome place. As soon as we walked in their place was very clean and spacious. They had brochures places to eat, hang out and how to get around NYC. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, shops all in walking distance. They are also close to the G and L train if you want to get into Manhattan.

Thanks so much for letting us stay at your place. Hopefully we can come back again soon.

    Jason and Katy.

Jac and Nora are artists and designers. We own a house in Greenpoint and an old farmhouse up in the catskills. We go back and forth between the city and the mountains. We love indian food, thrift shops, and sitting in front of the fireplace reading comic books.
