Awesome location, no noise, no stress - great. Fishing, kayaking, walking, reading, BBQ, games all at once in one week. We visited some villages in the neighborhood, bird show in medieval town 40min drive and famous fish and chips restaurant 20min drive. Rosie was very helpful, easy going.

We stayed at Moulin des Vaux cottage, booked though Airbnb, at the end of August 2015. Everything about our stay was positive and I hope we will return there one day. I'm afraid, however, that I messed up with posting a review, thinking I had when I hadn't and then the 14 day period elapsed. DOH! This, therefore, is my review. In general The mill is an idyllic place. It matches very well to the description given here. When we arrived, the place almost took my breath away - the combination of the mill and its situation by the river and the trees. The booking process and access to hosts during our stay Rosie responded promptly during the booking process answering all questions with patience and useful practical advice. She went the extra mile in suggesting places we could visit at Poitiers and other towns on our way to the mill. Also, the arrangements for meeting us there were excellent and both Rosie and Huw were extremely helpful with their advice to us when we got there. Rosie was always available at the other end of the phone for any queries during our stay. There was also a welcome pack which included a bottle of wine. The Mill The place is charming, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The living room on the first floor was wonderful for reading when the weather was less inviting. There are books available in every room, to most tastes. The kitchen was well stocked, including spices and herbs. We experienced the mill in a range of weathers - from very hot to rather cool and wet and it accommodates all weathers. There are lots of extras such as 3 very good new bikes and the rowing boat which was available exclusively for our use. We took the bikes on a longish ride and my husband was fortunate enough to see 2 deer crossing a path. There are plenty of quiet paths for walking and cycling. The boat was such an added bonus. We had trips every day up the river and saw otters and what we believe were coypu. I woke up early one morning and saw either an otter or a coypu just outside the mill on the weir. We took the boat and stopped some way upriver one day and had a picnic along the riverbank. This is a place to really get away from it all and it felt like a privilege to have use of the place for a week. Take water shoes if you want to swim or just paddle in the water. You can swim in the water but I found it a bit cold when we were there. The area We didn't explore the area much as we wanted to chill out, read and just enjoy the simple pleasures of being in such lovely surroundings. There are signposted walks in the area. We got a bit lost at times. There is a board with a general map by...

Rosie and Huh were there to meet and greet us and to explain all with regards to the working of the house. They were most friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them both. The house was absolutely fantastic and just what we had hoped for. It was fabulously clean and the quality of all provided such as linens and bedding was amazing. The very thoughtful provisions of wine, fresh bread, cheese, butter, eggs and preserves were wonderful and much appreciated. The surrounding gardens and weir were unbelievable. We were amazed to see the otters often and various rare species of birds. Our children had a fantastic time playing in the boat, rowing upstream, fishing, bicycling and playing board games which were all provided by the hosts. It is a true gem and I would definitely love to return to the beauty and peace of this house and surrounding area. This is a house for every season. The personal touches of the hosts are quite amazing I would rate the whole experience beyond anything I would have expected and certainly has made our holiday one we shall cherish for years to come. Thankyou
