The Space

If you are looking for a place to relax away from work or visiting Charlotte, this fully-renovated 1936 single family home in the historic district of Wesley Heights is the place for you. We welcome you to email us.

Wesley Heights is a beautiful neighborhood with tree lined streets located within walking distance of Uptown, many convention activities, restaurants and transit.

The home is only two blocks from a free trolley service to Uptown, one block from Charlotte's bus system and a 15-20 walk to Uptown. If you fly in, no need to take a taxi, just take the City's Sprinter bus system to the Grandin Road stop and your host will pick you up (5 minute walk to the house!).

During your stay you will have a sauna/cottage with twin futon type bed (for those a little more adventurous). This single family home is about 1600 square feet with all the amenities needed for your stay. Though the sauna building does not contain a bathroom, you will have full use of the house restroom and kitchen. The sauna contains a bed, mini-refrigerator and A/C. There is no TV in this cottage, but wireless internet will hook up. You are welcome to use the sauna too during our cooler nights!

The yard is a perfect place to enjoy the gardens, various backyard patios and front porch. This neighborhood offers a true urban feel and has beautiful views of the Charlotte skyline, including the light show of Duke Energy Center and views of Bank of America Stadium.

Please note that we (the owners) will be on site as well with a shared bathroom and we want to ensure you have your privacy as well. We'd be glad to answer any questions. We will have breakfast cereals, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee available. We welcome those that might enjoy a cocktail or two and might even join you if you like, but we are not looking for those ready to throw a major blow out party at the house.

You'll need to be a cat lover to join us as we have two happy kitties, Ako and Rio. We also have a wonderful dog named Sierra, but if you are not a dog lover, she goes to a friend's house to play and stay while you visit us.

If you would like a place to stay that is off the hotel circuit, come join us!

  • Vivian and Dave adopted me for the week and I had a wonderful time with them during my stay. I came to Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention and had a crazy schedule, but Vivian and Dave still found time to make sure I was good to go! I was lucky enough to stay there for about a week so I got to know them and hope our paths cross in the future. The cottage building is just perfect with just the right amount of privacy but still full access to the house and fun hosts! Vivian and Dave even had breakfast essentials in their kitchen that they happily shared. I can't recommend them enough and really, the cottage is great, well air conditioned, just enough space and a fun different type of place to stay. Also, if you have any questions or concerns they are both very open and easy to talk to, let alone just cool people. Just say yes to staying with them, it's worth it!

I am a city transportation planner and landscape architect. My husband works in the environmental field. We have lived at our residence for 9 years and enjoy the city views. We live with two cats and a dog. Our dog sometimes goes to visit friends when we have guests depending on if you are dog lover or not. :) We both have unusual hobbies. My husband is an avid model builder from WWII planes to restoring Coca Cola machines. He recently built a TARDIS from scratch which resides in the backyard. I enjoy time in the garden, triathlons and have gotten into dog sledding. Next year will be my 5th year travelling north to work with sled dogs! Two winters ago I volunteered at the Iditarod Sled Dog Race and this past winter spent a month in the Yukon Territories working with a dog musher and her team of Siberian and Alaskan huskies. I lived in Finland for a summer and am the proud owner of a sauna cottage in our backyard. We enjoy travelling and have been to Europe, Russia, Canada, Mexico and a number of US states.
