Lusch Acres "Lodge"

House - Entire home/apt · Tourscher Rd, Dushore, PA 18614, United States

The Space

Space and comfort to match the great outdoors. This 4 bedroom and 3 1/2 bath home has very large spaces(bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen and great outdoor spaces( 2 covered decks/porches, a master bedroom balcony and 4 private acres of land to relax on). The private setting is perfect for the ultimate in peace and relaxation while also being centrally located within Sullivan county and all it has to offer.

Sullivan County is officially known as the 'Gem of the Endless Mountains". It is slightly populated(6,000 year round residents) with mountainous terrain, lakes and streams. There are many State parks for swimming, hiking and picnicking and State Game lands for hunting. The high altitude(2,400 ft) and being heavily forested offers natural mountain air conditioning, even on the hottest of days. Once the sun sets you can feel the coolness return to the air for the nightly campfire and then a comfortable nights sleep.

The lakes and streams are mountain spring fed year round and are excellent for swimming, kayaking(spring), and fishing. Of course antiquing and craft stores are found throughout the county. A recent development are 4 wineries that have sprung up on the local mountainsides and are ready to host those interested in wine tastings.

  • We had such a great time at Lusch Acres. The house is even bigger than it looked in the pictures. It's really clean and well maintained. The kitchen had just about everything you could possibly need. The property is beautiful and really quiet (which is a nice change from the city). After a long day of hiking at Worlds End Park, it was such a comfortable place to come back to and relax. And John and Kay are such great hosts, they made sure the heat was on so the house was nice and cozy when we got there. We can't wait to go back.

  • We had a wonderful time. The house is delightful and equipped with everything you need, especially the kitchen. I spent as much much time as possible on the beautiful porch. Our hosts were so warm and friendly. John even called to make sure we didn't miss a bear sighting! We had a great hike at Rickets Glenn and enjoyed World's End too. Highly recommend!

  • We had a wonderful stay and John made us feel extremely comfortable. He went out of his way to give us directions at 1.30 AM when we got lost. Very warm and clean house with tasteful decorations. Can not wait to come back!

  • Sparkling clean home. Feels like home away from home. Had a great time biking, trekking and roasting marshmallows in fire.

About
My Mom's family originally came from Germany and homesteaded this property in 1850. She was raised on this farm, married and raised 7 children( I was #4) on this same farm. After my father died in 1975, she was not able to keep the farm and it was sold in 1980. I was fortunate enough to be able to buy most of it back in 2001. With our kids grown and off to college, my wife and I moved back in 2008, we tore down the original farm house and rebuilt it in the same image. I've since retired in 2011. This particular property is across the street from the "Homestead" and was built 30 yr's ago. My wife and I were able to acquire this home in February of 2012 and we have spent the last 5 months, working full time renovating and decorating. We are now very happy and pleased to share this home and this area with our guests. Even though I moved off to college in 1974 and lived all around the US I always knew I wanted to return. The beauty, pace and quality of life is hard to match. I recommend you try it out !! I think you would agree !!
