Close to a long sandy beach and spectacular coastal walks, our family cottage has a wood burning stove, lots of books, board games, wifi internet and a well equipped kitchen. It's a place to relax and recharge your batteries. Bundle up and go for a walk along the beach, then have a delicious hot chocolate or a good coffee in the Rockpool café. Light the fire and put your feet up with a good book or a game of Rummikub. If you feel adventurous try the local sea school for surfing and kayaking,

The space

In this Seatown cottage, there are two bedrooms (one twin, one double), perfect for a family of four or a group of friends. We've set up a reading room with an easel which has beautiful light for those who like to paint and draw or for you to simply relax with a book or magazine. Along the hall, the bathroom is simple with an electric shower. The living room downstairs has a wood and coal burning stove for warming up in the evening after a day of wildlife watching on the Moray coast. Next door, the bright kitchen has been fitted with traditional wooden cupboards and has an electric cooker and washing machine.

Guest access

There is a key safe by the front door, so you can arrive at anytime.

Interaction with guests

My friend and neighbour lives just around the corner and she looks after the cottage. She'll pop in to make sure you're comfortable. You can message me anytime if you've got any questions. I'm happy to be in touch - I like to know that people are enjoying themselves and getting the to know the best bits of the area.

Other things to note

I will provide clear instructions for lighting the stove. Please follow them for your safety. Well behaved pets are welcome if they have their own beds; we prefer them not to sit on the furniture. An extra £5 per night will be added for pets.

This is a cozy little cottage right in Seatown in Cullen, comfortably appointed with all you need for a nice stay by the sea. Pru is a great host -- good communication, friendly -- and we are happy to have had the opportunity to stay at her place. A great experience! If you're like us and didn't really know what to expect of the area -- there's not much tourism info about Scotland's northeast online -- you will be pleasantly surprised by how beautiful Cullen is. Plenty of cliff walks, remote beaches, small towns, standing stones, castles (both ruined and not), mountain hikes, and history to explore -- with no crowds. We had a car, which was nice for getting out to the mountains and distilleries, but you'll find enough beauty right in Cullen for a quiet holiday. We are two writers and found it the perfect place to spend a month working and walking together. Thanks, Pru!

As we drove into Cullen, we were immediately sure we had made the right choice of where to stay. The coastline views are amazing and constantly changing with the the weather. The cottage itself was exactly what we were expecting: a cozy little house of our own to spend evenings in and to explore from. We felt right at home and I enjoyed reading in the little room upstairs. On sunny days, we sat in chairs outside the front door, sipping coffee. We especially enjoyed the wood fire stove to take the chill away. The sea is just a stone's throw away: perfect for walking on the beach, along the harbour or even taking the trails along the cliffs. Exceptional views everywhere. We did a fair amount of our own cooking making purchases at the local COOP, but also enjoyed Portknockie fish and chips and Willows Tea Room. We were also lucky to get in the last night of the local pub. With a car, we were easily able to visit Speyside distilleries, see Highland Games, and take a trip to the West Coast and back. We highly recommend a drive and short walk out to Auchindoun Castle for views of the Cairngorms and countryside.

This cottage turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. It was and escape from the ultra-modern and a return to rustic and simple (although it did have Wi-Fi, which was good). The cottage was less than 100 yards from the beach and amidst a small community of jumbled cottages and streets that were fun to explore. The entire town is just a short walk up the hill where we went each day for groceries, fish & chips, The Three Kings Inn (a great pub), and even Chinese takeout when everything else was closed. Pru was a delight and very helpful. Even though we didn't get to meet her in person she did have a nearby friend meet us at the house and show us around. The sunsets were great and the temperature in Cullen in mid-May was wonderful. The Scotch distilleries in Dufftown are less than an hour's drive away. The drive to Cullen through Cairngorms National Park was unbelievably scenic and well worth the 15 extra minutes of drive time due to winding roads. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely loved staying in Pru's cottage. Peaceful and tranquil. Great for walks and close to the horizon. Great for artists and photographers too as the light quality is stunning. Thoroughly recommended.

Pru's cottage is lovely - very comfortable, clean, warm, cosy and well equipped; Communications before and during our stay were friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome. We really enjoyed our stay - recommend walks to / from Strathlene (good for dolphin sightings) eating at the Bijou in Strathlene (dog friendly, lovely food, very good service) and the coffee from 'Coffee at the Kings' - the airstream van next to Cullen golf club. We found Cullen a very friendly and welcoming place and look forward to returning.

I'm an artist and teacher and I live and work in London. I love the bustle and culture in London and I have an allotment. I need to recharge my batteries and Cullen is where I go with my family and friends to relax, walk along the beach, read and watch films, light the fire and cook lovely food.
My guests like the family feel of our cottage and I hope you will enjoy it too.
