Overall our stay at Las Brisas was good. Vanessa at the front desk was very helpful. They even upgraded our room because we had a long stay (6 days). The only reason I cannot say it was great because of the location. We would not recommend this hotel unless you have a car.
We did have a misunderstanding/ lack of communication when when first got there about the taxi from the airport to the hotel. It was $100 USD for 2 people and we gave the driver the money but when we checked in at the front desk at the hotel they said we were suppose to pay at the hotel which was not related to us before hand. They handled it with the driver but it was still frustrating because I don't live misunderstandings.
The hotel is located on the outskirt of Jaco (about 5 min car ride to and from Jaco). Due to not being in a major city like Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, San Jose, etc. Transportation and finding food is hard. There is a public bus stop about 10-15 min walk from the hotel.
The hotel does have a shuttle but it was in the shop getting fix during our stay so it was unavailable. But this shuttle is not free there is a small fee ($4 USD) to have them take you to Jaco while the public bus take you for 320 colones (~$0.60 USD). To go to Manuel Antonio via Taxi is $70 USD (what the owners told us) while public bus is $5 USD. But when we got to the main street (10-15 min walk) we found a greyline shuttle passing through and ask them how much to take us to Manuel Antonio and they charged us only $5 USD each.
We took the public bus during our stay but the downside to that is the last bus is at ~1730 and the closest place to eat near this hotel are restaurants located at Playa Hermosa which is a 20-25 min walk from the hotel and they are not cheap. They do have a pizza place that deliver but we paid 9700 colones (~18 USD) for a medium cheese pizza EXPENSIVE in my opinion verses getting a full meal (meat, rice, beans, 2 other sides) and a drink at a soda for $6 USD.
In Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Quepos, San Jose you will find cheap places called Soda and other 24/7 places.
Please do not misunderstand me here. The hotel is beautiful, clean and safe. The staff and Breakfast is AMAZING. But if you are on a budget and want to really explore different parts of Costa Rica and plan to rely on public transportation I would not recommend staying here for an extending period of time like we did unless you have a car. This is a great place if your just passing through (2 days MAX). It seems like "the spot" for locals. But they have cars.
Overall 4 Stars.
