This is for NON-SMOKERS ONLY. Meaning, it's not enough that you don't smoke here, if you smoke AT ALL, please don't book the space. This is due to the lingering smoke smell that stays on clothes and bedding. If I smell cigarette smoke on you, I will need to ask you to leave ASAP. Thanks for honoring this.
Bedroom w/ private bathroom (shower, no tub). At this time we are not offering kitchen or yard access.
Interaction with Guests
Happy to point you in the right directions!
Ocean, ocean, ocean. Walking, biking, gardens, and friendly folks.
1. NON-SMOKERS ONLY. Meaning, not just that you don't smoke here but that you don't smoke AT ALL. It's a deal-breaker 'cos smoke lingers on clothes and linens & I'd rather not have it in my space. Thanks.
2. Check in is between 7:00pm and 9:00pm and check out is by 10:00am. This means if you are staying more than one night, in between days you must head out by 10:00am and are welcome to return anytime after 7:00pm.
3. Holistic household so we don't use chemical/synthetic cleaners or cosmetics (perfumes/colognes). PLEASE do not bring or spray anything that is not 100% natural.
4. The room is off the kitchen and even though we have quiet hours from 10:30pm to 8:00am, folks still cook and do their thing. It's usually fairly quiet but not for the super sensitive quiet-needing person. :)
5. We are not offering kitchen or yard access at this time. However... the gorgeous ocean is just a 5-minute walk away!
I think that's a wrap!
Nicki was a wonderful host. She was very welcoming and kind. The room was neat and clean. It had everything I needed - bed, private bathroom, internet access and a desk for laptops. Just as advertised, the place was a 5 minute walk from the ocean in a nice neighborhood. Highly recommended!
I enjoyed sleeping in the tent. The bed in the tent is comfortable and very cozy; I slept very well. It is in a peaceful part of Oakland.
The bathroom is available whenever you need it and I had a nice shower in the morning before I left.
There were little lights that I could use in the tent, so you can read in bed if you want to. There was also a jug of hot water in case I wanted to make some tea.
The only drawback for me was that I needed a place to study and work on my computer, so I went to the Can't Fail Cafe. There, the food was good but it was not a good place to study.
I loved staying at this tent! It's located in a beautiful (& safe) area of Oakland, nestled in the hills. Nicole was a great host and like other reviewers have mentioned, she was kind to leave hot water and tea that really helped set the mood for sleeping each evening, or waking in the morning.
Public transit is close, and very easy to navigate. Fun stay
Nicole was absolutely delightful to stay with, and sleeping in the tent was a super relaxed, refreshing and unique experience! I'd do it again :) The neighbourhood is peaceful and though it can get pretty chilly outside (we stayed in mid-January), under the blankets it's totally warm and very comfortable. Nicole was sweet enough to leave us chocolates (from a local chocolatier) and lots of tea. A pleasant and inspiring stay.
